Verdict: The OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro are excellent value if you want energetic bass, genuinely useful budget ANC, multipoint connectivity and long case-assisted battery life. They are especially appealing with a OnePlus phone. Their important catches are a distinctly bass-forward tuning, average ANC-on endurance, inconsistent noisy-environment call quality, no wireless charging and fewer platform conveniences on iPhone and non-OnePlus devices.

Design, fit and everyday durability
The Nord Buds 3 Pro use a conventional stemmed, in-ear design with a rounded housing. The two listed finishes are Soft Jade and Starry Black. Their light, familiar shape is comfortable for many ears, and independent coverage from Scarbir and SoundGuys has found the fit comfortable for extended listening.
Comfort is still individual. The supplied ear-tip size changes the seal, bass response and ANC performance, and a tip that feels secure for walking may become tiring during a long session. People with small ears should check whether the housing presses against the outer ear before committing.

- JBL Deep Bass Sound: Get the most from your mixes with high-quality audio from secure, reliable earbuds with 8mm drivers featuring JBL Deep Bass Sound
- Comfortable fit: The ergonomic, stick-closed design of the JBL Vibe Beam fits so comfortably you may forget you're wearing them. The closed design excludes external sounds, enhancing the bass performance
- Up to 32 (8h + 24h) hours of battery life and speed charging: With 8 hours of battery life in the earbuds and 24 in the case, the JBL Vibe Beam provide all-day audio. When you need more power, you can speed charge an extra two hours in just 10 minutes.
- Hands-free calls with VoiceAware: When you're making hands-free stereo calls on the go, VoiceAware lets you balance how much of your own voice you hear while talking with others
- Water and dust resistant: From the beach to the bike trail, the IP54-certified earbuds and IPX2 charging case are water and dust resistant for all-day experiences
What IP55 allows
IP55 applies to the earbuds, not the case. It is suitable for sweat, workouts and light rain, but not swimming, showering, immersion or deliberate water exposure. Dry the earbuds before putting them back in the case. OnePlus says resistance can decline with age and that liquid or dust damage is not covered by warranty; its safety guide provides the model’s handling warnings.
Sound quality: fun rather than neutral
The 12.4 mm titanium-coated drivers and Basswave 2.0 processing produce a warm, energetic presentation. Bass has real weight and makes pop, electronic music and hip-hop immediately enjoyable. Kick drums have impact, but the tuning is not neutral: on some recordings the extra low end can cover a little vocal space or reduce the sense of upper-mid detail.
How different material sounds
- Pop and electronic: Strong sub-bass and punch make these a natural fit.
- Rock and metal: Guitars remain lively, although dense mixes can sound thicker than intended.
- Hip-hop: Bass extension is a major strength.
- Classical and acoustic: Instruments are listenable, but listeners seeking an airy, strictly accurate balance may want less bass.
- Podcasts and dialogue: Voices are generally intelligible; reducing Basswave can make speech cleaner.
Reviews from Scarbir and Beebom similarly describe a warm, bass-emphasized sound rather than an audiophile-neutral one. “Balanced” in some coverage means vocals stay clear, not that the frequency response is flat.
HeyMelody supplies EQ controls, so you can reduce the low end instead of relying on phone volume. If a recording sounds thin, Basswave can add enjoyable weight; if kick drums dominate, switch it off and compare before changing several EQ bands at once.

ANC and transparency in the real world
OnePlus advertises hybrid ANC of up to 49 dB and a cancellation range reaching 4,000 Hz. That number comes from laboratory testing, and OnePlus explicitly warns that real-world results vary. The earbuds are impressive against low-frequency bus, train and HVAC rumble for their class, but they do not match the refinement of premium Sony, Bose or Apple models.
Where ANC works best
- Engine, rail and aircraft-like low-frequency rumble: strong value performance.
- Office HVAC and steady background noise: useful reduction once the tips seal correctly.
- Human voices, keyboards and other high-frequency sounds: reduced less completely than bass.
- Wind: performance can fluctuate as the anti-wind algorithm adapts; a hood or better physical fit can help.
The 49 dB figure is not a promise that every environment will become 49 dB quieter. Ear anatomy, tip seal, the noise’s frequency and wind all matter. If ANC seems weak, first confirm that Noise Cancellation—not Transparency or Off—is selected and try another tip.
Transparency mode
HeyMelody offers Noise Cancellation, Transparency and Personalized Noise Cancellation, plus OnePlus 3D Audio, as selectable modes according to Tom’s Guide. Transparency is useful for a brief conversation or hearing surroundings without removing the buds. Its naturalness and any faint hiss vary with fit and environment, so do not assume the same open, effortless sound as a flagship pair. For walking or commuting, use it as an awareness aid rather than a substitute for visual attention.
Battery life: excellent case endurance, ordinary ANC endurance
OnePlus rates the earbuds for up to 12 hours with ANC off and 5.5 hours with ANC on. Including the case, the figures are up to 44 and 20 hours respectively. A 10-minute charge is rated for up to 11 hours when using the case, or up to four hours for the earbuds alone.

And you can track down your AirPods and Charging Case with the Find My app.*
- LONG BATTERY LIFE — Get up to 5 hours of listening time on a single charge. And get up to 30 hours of total listening time using the case.*
These are AAC, 50-percent-volume laboratory results. Calls, high volume, gaming mode, multipoint, codec behavior and poor radio conditions reduce runtime. WIRED reports usually getting about five hours per charge in ordinary use, while Tom’s Guide treats the 5.5-hour ANC-on rating as competitive rather than exceptional. The 44-hour headline therefore describes repeated recharges from the case, not 44 hours from the earbuds themselves.
Calls and microphones
Each earbud has three microphones, and OnePlus says its Clear Call algorithm and anti-wind processing improve voice pickup. Independent impressions from PhoneArena and Beebom are positive about value and ordinary calls.
That specification does not guarantee professional-grade calls. Indoor conversations should be acceptable, but traffic, wind and busy offices can introduce compression, muffling or dropouts. They are good enough for routine phone calls and casual meetings; verify noisy-location performance before choosing them as your primary work headset. Both earbuds can be used independently, although switching calls between two connected devices may not behave identically across platforms.
App, controls and platform support
OnePlus phones expose earbud settings through the system’s accessory controls. Other Android phones and iPhones use the free HeyMelody app for EQ, ANC and transparency, Personalized Noise Cancellation, 3D Audio, touch customization, firmware updates and Find My Earbuds.

- Pair through Bluetooth, or use Google Fast Pair where supported.
- Install HeyMelody on a non-OnePlus phone.
- Check for firmware updates.
- Configure touch actions and confirm that play/pause is enabled; WIRED found it disabled by default.
- Run the available fit check, then choose ANC, Transparency or Normal.
- Adjust EQ and Basswave to your music rather than assuming the default suits everyone.
OnePlus cites Google Fast Pair for supported OnePlus 6-series and newer phones running Android 11 or later, subject to current software requirements. iPhone users get Bluetooth playback and HeyMelody management, but not the same system integration or OnePlus-specific automation.
Multipoint and gaming
Dual-device connectivity lets the buds remain connected to two sources and switch when a call arrives. Enable it in the app if it is not already active, then test your particular phone-and-computer combination; game modes and some codec settings can affect switching.
Bluetooth 5.4 and a low-latency Game Mode make the Nord Buds 3 Pro suitable for casual mobile games and generally good video lip-sync. On OnePlus phones, Tom’s Guide reports that Game Mode can activate automatically for mobile games; behavior differs on other platforms. Competitive PC or console players should still choose a wired or dedicated gaming headset because no universal zero-latency guarantee applies here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should buy them?
- OnePlus-phone owners: A strong buy when discounted or priced firmly in the budget tier.
- Other Android users: Good value, provided you are willing to install HeyMelody.
- iPhone users: Potentially worthwhile, but less compelling because OnePlus conveniences are unavailable.
- Bass fans and commuters: Particularly good matches for energetic sound and useful low-frequency ANC.
- Casual gamers and students: Low latency, multipoint and case endurance cover everyday use well.
Who should compare or skip them?
- Listeners who want neutral, highly resolving tuning without EQ.
- People who need the best possible microphone performance in wind or traffic.
- Frequent flyers expecting flagship ANC against voices and cabin noise.
- Anyone requiring wireless charging or a water-resistant charging case.
- Buyers who dislike companion apps or need identical features across iOS, Android, computers and consoles.
Alternatives and price context
The right verdict depends on the price available today. OnePlus’s retrieved product information does not establish a reliable current US price, so check the official listing and retailer return terms rather than treating an old launch price as current. At a similar price, Soundcore’s Space A40 is a sensible comparison for buyers prioritizing a broader, more polished feature set and multipoint. The OnePlus has the stronger bass appeal and an IP55 earbud rating; the Soundcore model is listed with IPX4 protection. Compare current price, ANC quality, ANC-on battery, microphones, codec support, wireless charging and platform behavior before buying.

Fixes for common problems
Weak bass or poor sound
- Try every supplied ear-tip size and reseat the buds.
- Rerun the fit test if the app provides one.
- Clean the speaker mesh carefully.
- Disable Basswave and compare.
- Use HeyMelody EQ rather than simply raising phone volume.
ANC seems ineffective
Check the selected mode, seal and tip size. Voices and high-frequency sounds are harder for ANC to suppress than engine rumble, and wind can make the anti-wind system fluctuate. Do not use the 49 dB laboratory rating as an expectation for every noise source.
Battery is below the headline figure
Higher volume, calls, multipoint, gaming mode, interference and ANC explain much of the difference from OnePlus’s AAC, 50-percent-volume test conditions.
Pairing or multipoint fails
- Put both earbuds in the case, close it, then reopen it.
- Forget the earbuds in Bluetooth settings.
- Pair again through Fast Pair or standard Bluetooth.
- Update HeyMelody and the firmware.
- Disable multipoint temporarily and test with one source device.
Reset button combinations can change with firmware; use the current manual or app instructions rather than an unverified shortcut.
