The rollout varied by region and device; the announcement was not a promise that every listed phone would update at once. MIUI 13 is now a historical release, and Xiaomi’s current software platform is HyperOS. This page separates the original announcement from regional release evidence so you can check what was known for your device without mistaking an old schedule for a current OTA.
MIUI 13 rollout: what the announcement did—and did not—mean
Xiaomi’s international announcement named eight models for its first wave and set Q1 2022 as the planned rollout window. Xiaomi also said timing could vary by region. A place on that list meant Xiaomi had announced the model for the first wave; it did not establish that every regional variant received an update on the same date, or that all other Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices were excluded from later releases. Xiaomi’s January 2022 MIUI 13 announcement
MIUI 13 was Xiaomi’s Android-based software interface and system layer, not a synonym for a particular Android version. A reliable status therefore needs separate answers for the MIUI release, the region-specific firmware, and the underlying Android base.

- Officially announced: Xiaomi named the device in a published schedule. This is a plan, not proof of a completed OTA.
- Stable OTA reported: Owners or a tracker reported a stable over-the-air release for a specific market or firmware branch.
- Stable package spotted: A stable firmware package was listed, but package availability alone does not prove that the OTA was broadly enabled.
- Pilot or beta: A limited test release, not general availability.
- Android base confirmed: The device’s underlying Android version is reported separately from MIUI.
- Not confirmed: The available evidence does not establish a reliable stable release for that device and region.
For current Xiaomi software branding and rollout information, see Xiaomi’s HyperOS page. Its present-day schedule should not be used as evidence of a past MIUI 13 release.

How to check historical regional status
There is no single universal MIUI 13 eligibility list that safely combines China, Global, EEA, India, Indonesia, Russia, Taiwan, and Turkey firmware. The same retail name can correspond to different regional software branches, and a rebrand can use a different name in another market. A region-specific tracker is useful for locating reported releases, but verify the exact device and build before treating an entry as applicable to your phone.
| Region or market | How to interpret a tracker entry |
|---|---|
| Global | Check that the report names the Global firmware branch, not merely a device sold internationally. |
| India | Check the India-specific build and retail model; a China or Global report does not confirm India availability. |
| China | China firmware release evidence applies to that branch, not automatically to Global, EEA, or India devices. |
| EEA/Europe | Look for the EEA branch specifically; do not assume a Global package or date is interchangeable. |
| Indonesia | Confirm the Indonesia branch and exact device variant. |
| Russia | Confirm the Russia branch; availability elsewhere does not establish a Russian OTA. |
| Taiwan | Use Taiwan-specific evidence rather than extrapolating from another market. |
| Turkey | Check the Turkey branch and whether a reported release was stable or limited. |
The MIUIROM historical tracker separates release information across Global, China, India, Indonesia, Europe, Russia, Taiwan, and Turkey. It is secondary tracking evidence; use Xiaomi’s official announcement and device support channels as the stronger reference when available.
Historical reports also cover more Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO, and tablet models than Xiaomi’s first-wave announcement. Because the evidence cited here does not establish a complete model-by-region matrix with verified build numbers and first-evidence dates, this page does not present a universal “eligible” list or invent missing status cells. FoneArena’s historical tracker is another record of reported Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO releases; check its device and regional details rather than treating a model-name match as proof for every variant.

MIUI 13 and Android 12 are separate versions
No: MIUI 13 does not automatically mean Android 12. MIUI 13 identifies Xiaomi’s software interface/version; Android 12 identifies the underlying Android operating-system release. Some phones received MIUI 13 on Android 12, while others could receive MIUI 13 on an older Android base. Check both version fields for the exact device and firmware rather than inferring Android from the MIUI number. Historical tracker coverage likewise distinguishes MIUI and Android versions.
What MIUI 13 included
Xiaomi advertised features including widgets, sidebar and floating-window multitasking, privacy and security functions, cross-device collaboration, and performance or storage improvements. Tablet software also had tablet-oriented capabilities. These were not a guarantee of an identical feature set on every phone or tablet: Xiaomi said availability could vary by device and region. Xiaomi’s announcement describes the feature set and its availability caveat.

If MIUI 13 did not appear on your device
An absent OTA does not by itself prove that a device was ineligible. Common explanations include a different regional ROM, staged distribution, carrier control, a regional model name or variant, a paused rollout, or the device already moving on a newer MIUI or HyperOS branch. A quarterly announcement window was not a delivery guarantee, and stable package availability was not the same as a broadly enabled OTA.
- Confirm the exact model and region. Use the model information and current software build shown in Settings; do not rely on the retail name alone.
- Record the current build number. Compare it with reports for the same device and ROM branch, not just the same product family.
- Check basic conditions. Use a reliable Wi-Fi connection and adequate battery, then reboot and check again later.
- Allow for staged delivery. A reported release may have reached only a subset of devices or users.
- Clear updater data only with official guidance. Do not treat cache-clearing or other unofficial workarounds as a guaranteed fix.
- Do not install a different region’s ROM just because the model name matches. Regional packages can be incompatible, and manual flashing can erase data or make a device unusable.
- Back up before manual recovery or bootloader work. If the phone enters a boot loop or fails package verification, use Xiaomi’s official recovery or service channels rather than trying unrelated firmware.
Stable, beta, and manual packages are not interchangeable
A beta or Mi Pilot build is limited testing, not proof of general stable availability. A recovery ROM or other downloadable package shows that a file exists; it does not establish that Xiaomi enabled an OTA for all users in that market. For dependable status, prefer an official announcement or official firmware evidence, then corroborate with multiple reports that name the region and build. Treat tracker entries and owner reports as useful leads, not as permission to flash a package intended for a different branch.
