Current status (checked September 28, 2026): MIUI 12.5 is no longer an active rollout. It was a 2021 update cycle, followed internationally by MIUI 13 in the first quarter of 2022. The dates below are therefore a historical tracker, not a promise that Xiaomi will still deliver an OTA today.
The surviving regional tracker was last updated May 16, 2022. Its dates generally record stable package publication; an OTA could still have arrived later for an individual handset.
What this tracker records
MIUI 12.5 stable, MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition, China ROMs and international ROMs were separate release streams. Global, EEA (Europe), India, Indonesia, Russia, Taiwan and Turkey branches could receive different builds on different dates. A Recovery ROM or Fastboot ROM being downloadable does not prove that an over-the-air (OTA) push reached every owner.
Do not identify Enhanced Edition from a number such as “12.5.x” alone. Confirm the regional build and changelog; a higher numerical build is not automatically the Enhanced package.

Original international rollout
Xiaomi announced an international rollout beginning in the second quarter of 2021. The first wave included Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro, Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Mi 11, but Xiaomi did not publish one exact date for every model. Contemporary coverage therefore described an eligibility window, not a worldwide release.
MIUI 13 was announced internationally on January 26, 2022, with a first-wave rollout in Q1 2022. That makes MIUI 12.5 a completed historical cycle rather than a current 2026 update track (Xiaomi’s announcement).
Xiaomi and Mi regional tracker
The historical Xiaomi/Mi tracker separates branches and records releases through May 16, 2022 (full Xiaomi/Mi table). The examples below show why a single “released” label is misleading.
| Device | China | Global | India | EEA/Europe | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mi 10 | August 10, 2021 | May 31, 2021 | August 23, 2021 | September 24, 2021 | Tracker-recorded stable release dates; not guaranteed OTA dates for every handset |
| Mi 10 Pro | See regional tracker | See regional tracker | See regional tracker | See regional tracker | Verify the exact branch and build in the historical table |

| Mi 11 family, Mi 11 Lite and Mi 11i | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Use the device-specific row and ROM suffix |
For Mi 10S, Mi 10i, Mi Note 10 variants, MIX models and Xiaomi tablets, use the linked historical table rather than assuming that a similarly named model shared the same package.

Redmi regional tracker
Redmi releases were tracked separately because timing often differed from Xiaomi-branded phones. The Redmi historical table includes Redmi Note, Redmi-numbered, K-series and tablet entries where a regional release was recorded.
| Device | China | Global | India | Indonesia | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 10 5G | September 16, 2021 | See tracker | See tracker | February 10, 2022 | Tracker-recorded dates for different regional branches |
| Redmi Note 8 series | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Check the exact variant, codename and branch |
| Redmi Note 9 and Note 10 series | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Do not substitute a Pro, 5G or rebranded variant |
| Redmi 9 and Redmi 10 families | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Region-dependent | Eligibility and dates varied by model and market |
POCO models require separate verification
POCO branding does not guarantee the same firmware timing as an equivalent Redmi or Xiaomi model. Only treat a POCO entry as confirmed when an exact regional build or credible release record exists. Otherwise label it “not independently verified,” not “not eligible.”
MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition
Enhanced Edition was a later refinement of MIUI 12.5, not a wholly separate operating system. Xiaomi’s Global rollout was announced for Q4 2021 (October–December), with model- and region-dependent staging (announcement coverage). A phone could receive ordinary MIUI 12.5 while another received Enhanced Edition.
Check the updater’s changelog and complete build string. A package’s region suffix and documented features are stronger evidence than the version number alone.

How to check your own phone
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone or My device; wording varies by MIUI build.
- Tap the MIUI version panel, then Check for updates.
- Open the updater menu and, if shown, review Receive updates early. This may expose a staged release but cannot force Xiaomi to publish one for your account or region.
Record the full model name, Android version, MIUI version, complete build number, ROM suffix, purchase region and whether the device is carrier-supplied or imported.
Reading ROM suffixes
Common practical suffixes are MIXM (Global), EUXM (EEA), INXM (India), IDXM (Indonesia), RUXM (Russia), TRXM (Turkey), TWXM (Taiwan) and CNXM (China). Naming can vary by device, so verify the complete build against Xiaomi’s official package information before installing anything.
Why another owner received it first
- Staged rollout: Xiaomi gradually expands an OTA and can pause it after discovering bugs.
- Different ROM: A Global, EEA, India or China branch has its own package and schedule.
- Carrier customization: Carrier testing can delay or alter delivery.
- Variant differences: Similar retail names can hide different codenames, radios or storage variants.
- Package versus OTA: A Recovery or Fastboot package may appear before broad OTA distribution.
- Imported hardware: The phone may be running a branch intended for another market.
Xiaomi’s later software pages likewise caution that releases are gradual and region-dependent, although that general policy does not prove the exact mechanism of every 12.5 release (Xiaomi HyperOS information).

- Recovery ROM: normally applied through the updater when the device, region and upgrade path match.
- Fastboot ROM: a computer-based reinstall that may require an unlocked bootloader and commonly wipes data.
- Unofficial or modified packages: avoid them for a mainstream update.
Back up first, verify the device codename and region, and never cross-flash China, Global, EEA or India firmware casually. Do not relock the bootloader after an incompatible regional flash. A wrong package can cause bootloops or a brick and can affect Google services, banking apps, DRM/Widevine, NFC, VoLTE and carrier features. Warranty consequences vary by jurisdiction. No universal Fastboot command is safe without the exact model, package and bootloader state.
When the update is missing or fails
- Connect to reliable Wi-Fi, charge the phone and free storage.
- Restart and run the updater’s manual check.
- Recheck the complete build number and ROM suffix.
- Look for Xiaomi support notices about a paused rollout.
- If distribution is staged, wait rather than switching regions.
- For manual recovery, use only an exact-match official package and back up first.
- Escalate repeated verification errors or boot failures to Xiaomi support or an authorized service center.
“Can’t verify update” commonly means a region, build or upgrade-path mismatch. Recovery packages can be rejected when the version is not an approved upgrade; Fastboot flashing can fail with a locked bootloader. Insufficient storage is another routine cause.
How to read status labels
- Released: a stable package is documented for that exact region.
- Staged rollout: distribution has started but is not universal.
- Stable beta: a limited-audience stable build is being tested.
- Not yet verified: no reliable region-specific evidence is available.
- Not eligible: Xiaomi or a reliable device record excludes the model.
- Superseded: the device moved to MIUI 13 or another later platform.
- Historical only: the entry belongs to the completed MIUI 12.5 cycle.
Support-policy context
Xiaomi says security support is typically maintained for at least two years after first shipment, with some devices supported for three years or longer. That modern policy does not retroactively establish MIUI 12.5 eligibility (Xiaomi support policy). For end-of-life context, see Xiaomi’s Security Center policy page.
