Give the selected value a name, include that field in the form or AJAX POST body, and read the matching key in PHP—for example, $_POST['callingcode'] for a field named callingcode. First decide whether you need a telephone calling prefix or a country identifier; they are different values.
Send the selected value in a named field
In an HTML form, the field’s name becomes the key sent to the server. A hidden input can carry a value selected through a telephone-input widget:
<input type="hidden" id="callingcode" name="callingcode">
Before the form is submitted, JavaScript must put the selected value into that input. A SitePoint Community discussion published January 8, 2018, illustrates this pattern with intl-tel-input and getSelectedCountryData().dialCode: SitePoint Community discussion. That API call is an example from the dated discussion, not confirmation of the current library API.
The hidden field must belong to the submitted form, and its value must be set before submission. A field that is absent from the form or omitted from an AJAX payload will not appear in the request.

Read the matching POST key in PHP
If the submitted field is named callingcode, read it on the PHP endpoint as $_POST['callingcode']. The PHP key must match the HTML name, not merely the input’s id.
if (isset($_POST['callingcode'])) {
$callingCode = $_POST['callingcode'];
// Validate the value for the format your application expects.
}
The discussion demonstrates $_REQUEST['callingcode'], but $_POST is the clearer choice when the value is expected specifically from a POST request. Check that the key exists and validate its value before using it.

Make sure the AJAX payload includes the field
When submitting with AJAX rather than a standard form, include the selected value under a named key in the POST body. For example, the server-side key must still match the payload key: a payload key of callingcode is read with $_POST['callingcode']. The 2018 SitePoint discussion includes an AJAX POST example, but the same rule applies regardless of the JavaScript request method: a value that is not sent cannot be read by PHP.
Choose which kind of country code you mean
The SitePoint example uses dialCode, which is a telephone calling prefix. That is not automatically an ISO country identifier. Use a field name that makes the meaning clear—for example, callingcode for a telephone prefix—and confirm the current intl-tel-input API if your application needs a distinct ISO identifier. The cited discussion does not establish the current API for retrieving that identifier.
