To uninstall NoScript, open Firefox’s Add-ons and themes, select Extensions, find NoScript, open its three-dot menu, and choose Remove. If you only want to turn it off temporarily, use the extension’s blue toggle instead; that disables NoScript without uninstalling it. Mozilla Support explains the difference between disabling and removing add-ons.
Remove NoScript in Firefox
- Open Firefox’s menu using the menu button.
- Select Add-ons and themes, then choose Extensions.
- Find NoScript in the list.
- Open the three-dot menu beside NoScript and select Remove. Confirm the prompt if Firefox displays one.
Mozilla’s Add-ons Manager instructions cover disabling and removing extensions. You manage NoScript as a Firefox extension; you generally do not need to look for a separate NoScript application on your computer.
Disable NoScript without uninstalling it
If you may want to use NoScript again, switch off its blue toggle on the Extensions page instead of choosing Remove. Disabling turns the extension off while leaving it installed; removing uninstalls it.
Use the toolbar shortcut
Firefox’s extensions toolbar panel may offer a Remove Extension option for NoScript. Selecting it uninstalls the extension. The Add-ons Manager is the more direct place to view and manage all installed extensions. See Mozilla’s guide to managing extensions from the extensions button.

If Firefox will not remove NoScript
Try Troubleshoot Mode
If Remove is unavailable or the Add-ons Manager cannot uninstall the extension, restart Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode and try again. Open the Firefox menu, choose Help and Report, select Troubleshoot Mode…, and restart Firefox. Then return to Add-ons and themes → Extensions and attempt removal again.
Check whether another program manages the extension
Some extensions are installed or managed by other software. If NoScript remains after the normal removal attempt, check the software that added it for its own removal controls. If your immediate goal is only to stop NoScript from running, disable it in Add-ons Manager.
Reserve manual file removal for advanced troubleshooting
Mozilla documents manual removal from a Firefox profile’s extensions folder and, in rare cases, from global installation locations. This is an advanced fallback: identify NoScript by its extension ID, quit Firefox, and follow Mozilla’s instructions for add-ons that cannot be removed. Do not delete files based on a guessed name.
