The judge’s question scrutinised the investigation; it was not a finding that Pawar was guilty. On October 1, 2026, the court granted suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yewale anticipatory bail subject to his cooperation, while the state Director General of Police said the probe needed more detailed and professional work.
What did the High Court ask about Parth Pawar?
During a hearing on Yewale’s anticipatory-bail application, Justice Madhav Jamdar asked: “Is the person who is having 99 per cent share, Parth Pawar, not a beneficiary of this transaction?” Outlook/PTI reported the oral question. The issue was the apparent mismatch between the reported ownership stakes and who had been named as an accused: Patil, said to hold 1%, was named, while Pawar, said to hold 99%, was not.

That question does not establish that Pawar benefited from the transaction, committed an offence, or should be charged. It asks police to account for the investigative treatment of the people involved. The reproduced October 1 order records a separate development: the DGP reviewed the investigation papers and saw a need for a more professional and detailed investigation, directing Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to conduct further investigation and monitor its progress. The DGP’s recorded position is not a finding of liability against Pawar.
What is alleged in the Mundhwa land transaction?
The Bombay High Court order describes a parcel of about 40 acres in Mundhwa, Pune, as government-owned land leased to the Botanical Survey of India. The prosecution case recorded in the order alleges that it was sold to Amadea Enterprises LLP without mandatory state approval. These are allegations in the criminal matter, not conclusions about every person associated with the LLP.

Moneylife reported that a registered sale deed was executed on May 20, 2025, for about ₹300 crore. It also cited estimates of ₹1,800 crore to ₹2,000 crore during the controversy; those are reported estimates, not a court-established valuation. Moneylife’s coverage also reports a roughly ₹21 crore stamp-duty and penalty demand. That figure belongs to the revenue history and should not be mistaken for a criminal-court finding or a settled current appeal status.
What happened to Yewale’s bail application?
The court granted Yewale anticipatory bail, noting his compliance with earlier interim protection and making the relief subject to cooperation with investigators. Anticipatory bail concerns protection from arrest under specified conditions; it does not decide whether the alleged transaction was lawful or resolve the investigation into other people.

How do the civil, criminal and revenue proceedings differ?
| Track | What it concerns | Reported status |
|---|---|---|
| Criminal investigation | Alleged conduct surrounding the land transaction and the treatment of individual stakeholders. | At the October 1, 2026 hearing, the DGP’s position recorded in the reproduced High Court order was that a more professional and detailed investigation was needed. The Pune Police Commissioner was instructed to conduct further investigation and monitor progress. The court granted Yewale anticipatory bail subject to cooperation. |
| Civil proceeding | The legal status of the sale deed and its registration. | A Pune court order dated July 3, 2026 was reported to declare the deed inoperative from the beginning and direct cancellation of registration entries. This is a civil ruling about the deed, not a determination of criminal responsibility. Moneylife reported the civil-court development. |
| Revenue proceeding | Stamp duty and related penalty. | Moneylife reported a demand of about ₹21 crore. The current status of any appeal is not established here and should be checked against the relevant revenue order. |
The proceedings address different questions. A civil order about whether a deed remains operative does not, by itself, decide whether anyone committed a crime or settle administrative responsibility. Likewise, the criminal investigation’s next steps do not change the reported civil order automatically.

What is established—and what remains open?
- The High Court asked why the reported 99% stakeholder was not treated as a potential beneficiary when the reported 1% stakeholder had been named as an accused. The oral question is scrutiny of the investigation, not a verdict on Pawar.
- The court granted Yewale anticipatory bail subject to cooperation.
- The DGP, as recorded in a reproduction of the October 1 order, called for a more professional and detailed investigation, with the Pune Police Commissioner assigned further investigation and monitoring.
- The civil deed ruling, criminal investigation and revenue demand are distinct tracks; their reported outcomes should not be conflated.
