Assam constituted its 8th Pay Commission on 23 February 2026 to review state government employees’ emoluments and related service conditions. A September report said the commission was accepting stakeholder memorandums until 31 October 2026. No 8th commission salary figure, fitment factor or implementation date has been confirmed in the sources available. The formal resolution confirms the panel’s constitution, but does not substantiate the title’s attribution of the announcement to the Chief Minister.
What is the 8th Assam Pay Commission?
It is a state commission set up by the Government of Assam to review the emoluments and related service conditions of state government employees. The resolution constituting it is dated 23 February 2026 and is identified as an order of the Governor issued by the Finance (Pay Research Unit) Department at Dispur. It names retired IAS officer Subhash Chandra Das as chairperson and the Senior Most Secretary, Personnel Department as a member.

The resolution says the existing emolument structure had last been revised with effect from 1 April 2016, following the 7th Assam Pay and Productivity Pay Commission. The available English copy is a reproduction hosted on Scribd, not an English notification hosted by the Assam government. Its details are therefore best treated as reproduced resolution text rather than independently verified official web text.
Has the commission announced a salary hike?
No new salary amount, pay table, fitment factor or effective date is established in the available sources. The commission’s job is to review and recommend; a recommendation would not itself mean the state government has accepted or implemented it. Until a report and subsequent government decision are available, projected salary charts or online fitment-factor estimates should not be treated as official outcomes.

What the previous Assam commission recommended
The 7th Assam Pay and Productivity Pay Commission report recorded a recommended minimum pay of ₹15,900 and a multiplying factor of 2.62. These are historical figures from the previous commission, not announced terms or recommendations of the 8th commission.
What is the report timeline?
The reproduced resolution says the commission should submit its report as soon as practicable, preferably within 18 months. That is a target for the report, not a guaranteed deadline and not a date when revised salaries will begin. The eventual implementation timetable depends on a separate government decision.

The Sentinel reported on 6 September 2026 that the commission had invited representations and described 31 October 2026 as the deadline for submissions. That date was still upcoming on 12 October 2026, the date of the available reporting snapshot. Because the deadline and submission process are time-sensitive, applicants should check the commission’s official portal for any current notice or change.

Who can submit a memorandum, and how?
The Sentinel’s account says the invitation covered serving employees, pensioners, associations, organisations, unions, government departments and interested citizens. It described the process as online registration, completion of mandatory questionnaires and upload of a memorandum. The report does not establish whether the portal’s instructions or deadline have since changed.

- Sebastian C. Adams was a 19th-century educator and minister who spent years drawing this chart by hand before publishing it in 1871. He wanted ordinary families to see how the Bible and world history fit together, not as two separate stories, but as one. This edition carries that same purpose: 21 full-size panels, a hardcover case that keeps them together, and a chart you can open with your children the way parents did more than a century ago.
- There is something almost overwhelming about seeing six thousand years laid out side by side. While one kingdom rises, another is already fading. While prophets speak in one land, armies are marching in another. This synchronological chart places sacred and secular history in parallel columns, using the same Ussher chronology that generations of North American families learned in Sunday school. Parents will recognize it. Their children will see it for the first time.
- Fold it open like a book, or stretch it across the floor and watch it run twenty-three feet from wall to wall. Twenty-one panels unfold into one continuous stream of time, from Creation to the late 19th century. This is the kind of thing you gather the family around on a Sunday afternoon, or leave on a classroom wall for a semester. Kids who see the whole sweep of history stretched out before them start asking questions you never expected.
- This edition preserves the 19th-century voice of the original chart—its handwritten commentary, its period artwork, and the way it reads like a document from another time. It is the same chart that hung in libraries and classrooms in the 1870s, inviting readers to trace the rise and fall of nations, the lives of prophets and kings, and the quiet turning points that shaped the world. You are not just looking at history. You are reading it the way a 19th-century student would have.
- Some resources are meant to be studied. This one is meant to be lived with. Homeschool families use it as a spine for world history. Bible study groups unfold it on a long table. Parents tell us their kids keep it open on the floor, tracing the line from Adam to Abraham to David to Christ. It also makes a gift that says something: here is the whole story, from the beginning, in your hands.
- Check the commission’s official portal for the current notice, eligibility details and closing date.
- Register online as directed by the portal.
- Complete the mandatory questionnaire or questionnaires.
- Upload the memorandum through the stated submission process and follow any portal-specific requirements.
What will the commission consider beyond pay?
The resolution frames the review around fiscal sustainability, service delivery, administrative efficiency, human-resource management, technology adoption, outcome-based governance and manpower rationalisation. It also discusses integrating human resource management systems with financial management systems, measurable performance metrics, and structured training and capacity building.
These are stated objectives, not proof that a particular performance-linked pay scheme has been approved. The resolution describes the rationale and scope for a review; it does not establish the design of any eventual pay arrangement.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Assam’s panel the same as the 8th Central Pay Commission?
No. Assam’s commission is a state panel constituted by the Government of Assam and concerns state matters. The 8th Central Pay Commission is a separate Union-level body. The Union Cabinet approved that commission’s terms of reference in October 2025; those terms provide for recommendations within 18 months of its constitution. Central commission dates or recommendations do not determine Assam’s pay terms.

What is known about the Chief Minister’s statement?
The formal resolution confirms that Assam constituted the commission, but it does not verify the exact statement attributed to the Chief Minister in the headline, or when the Chief Minister made it. The available sources do not establish that attribution, so it should not be treated as a confirmed quotation or announcement.
