LG Electronics announced on October 1, 2026, that it is partnering with Miniclip to bring 8 Ball Pool to LG Smart TVs for the first time. LG says the game will run on TVs with webOS 6.0 or later, use the Magic Remote for aiming and shots, and include Couch Play Mode for two players sharing one screen. The announcement does not give a precise release time or a country-by-country rollout schedule, so check your TV’s app listing for local availability.
What LG and Miniclip announced
The partnership brings Miniclip’s 8 Ball Pool to LG Smart TVs. LG describes this as the game’s first release on a television screen. The announcement is from LG Electronics’ Global Newsroom, dated October 1, 2026: LG’s announcement.

LG says the title is part of its free gaming ecosystem, which includes more than 1,000 free-to-play titles in its web-based gaming library. The company also says optional in-game items can be purchased; “free” therefore describes the ecosystem and does not establish that every item or feature in the game costs nothing.
Which LG TVs are eligible?
LG specifies webOS 6.0 or later, including 2021 model-year TVs. That is a platform-version threshold, not a model-by-model compatibility list: the announcement does not name every supported TV, and a TV’s model year alone does not confirm support.

The announcement does not say that owners of otherwise-compatible TVs need to buy a new television, nor does it establish a separate Magic Remote purchase requirement.
How the TV version is controlled
LG says the game is optimized for webOS and the Magic Remote. The release describes using the remote to aim, adjust shot power and shoot. It does not state that a console or separate game controller is required.

What Couch Play Mode adds
Couch Play Mode is described by LG and Miniclip as an exclusive feature for this TV release. It lets two users compete head-to-head on the same screen, offering a local, shared-screen option rather than requiring each player to use a separate display. The announcement does not explain the mode’s detailed rules or setup process.

Large-screen presentation and LG’s figures
LG says that on screens larger than 100 inches—including its latest QNED evo and Micro RGB TVs—the game can appear at real-world scale, using a seven-foot pool table as the basis for the comparison. This is LG’s description of the presentation, not an independently tested measurement or a promise that every large-screen setup will reproduce a physical table’s experience.

LG also reports that 8 Ball Pool has more than 1 billion worldwide downloads and says Guinness World Records recognized it as the most downloaded mobile pool game. The announcement does not link to the underlying record, so those figures are attributable here to LG’s account.
To explain its broader gaming push, LG reports that total hours played grew 71% and individual gaming sessions grew 50%. The company says those comparisons are based on its internal data for January 2024 through May 2026; they are company figures, not an independent market study. LG’s Chris Jo, head of the webOS Platform Business Center at its Media Entertainment Solution Company, said the partnership would expand LG’s “free premium gaming ecosystem” on webOS. That is LG’s characterization of its platform.
