Short answer: Businesses have not yet been overwhelmed by AI-enabled cyberattacks, according to 7AI co-founder and CEO Lior Div, but he says the advantage may shift quickly as attackers gain better frontier and open-weight models. His proposed answer is an agentic security operations center (SOC) that continuously creates detections, investigates incidents, hunts for threats and responds, rather than relying on a mostly linear SIEM-and-analyst workflow. The warning and the performance figures are vendor statements reported by CRN, not independent measurements of attack prevalence or success.
What Lior Div warned at CRN’s 2026 conference
Speaking at CRN’s 2026 XChange Best of Breed Conference, Div argued that the current pause is temporary. “We’re not crushed yet, because those technologies are evolving right now,” he told CRN on October 13, 2026. In his view, attackers are gaining practical help from AI-assisted code generation, faster vulnerability discovery and more adaptive attack techniques. He is especially concerned about open-weight models that can be downloaded and operated without a vendor-controlled kill switch.

Div’s concern is not that every company is already facing an unstoppable autonomous campaign. The sources do not provide an independent statistic showing how common agentic attacks are, how quickly they are growing or how often they succeed. Instead, he is warning that defenders may have a limited period to modernize before offensive automation becomes harder to contain.
“I’m very afraid that if customers are not starting to adopt the new technology—and staying in the old model—it’s going to be too little, too late,” Div said in the same October 13 report.

What an agentic SOC is supposed to do
Div contrasts the conventional SOC with a continuously running loop. In the familiar model, an organization centralizes telemetry in a SIEM, writes detection rules, assigns investigations to analysts and staffs monitoring around the clock. An agentic SOC is intended to move repeatedly through the entire cycle:
- Create detections: turn threat intelligence, observed behavior or a newly identified technique into a detection.
- Go to the relevant data: query the systems and telemetry needed to test the signal instead of waiting for a human to assemble the evidence.
- Investigate: correlate activity, determine scope and distinguish a real incident from noise.
- Hunt and adapt: search for related activity and update detections as the investigation reveals new indicators or behaviors.
- Respond: take the approved containment or remediation action, with human controls where the customer requires them.
- Repeat: feed the result back into the next detection and response cycle.
The intended benefit is compression of the time between a new piece of intelligence and a protective action. Div says a human investigation that can take roughly 30 to 60 minutes may sometimes take less than 10 minutes with AI, and that a new capability can move from build to production in a 24-hour cycle. CRN attributes those figures to Div and 7AI; they have not been independently tested in the supplied reporting.
How 7AI says its architecture differs from a traditional SOC
7AI says it is not simply adding a chatbot or an AI assistant to an existing SOC stack. “We’re not going to bolt AI on top of what we’re doing. Everything that we build is AI-first or AI-native,” Div said in CRN’s October 14, 2026 coverage.

|---|---|---|
| Detection and investigation | Rules and alerts feed analyst-led investigation. | AI creates or adjusts detections, investigates and proposes action in one loop. |
| Threat hunting | Often scheduled or initiated by an analyst after an alert or intelligence update. | Continuous hunting is part of the detection-investigation-response cycle. |
| Speed | Human investigation may take roughly half an hour to an hour, according to Div’s comparison. | 7AI says some investigations can take less than 10 minutes. |
| New capability deployment | New rules and workflows can require separate engineering, testing and release steps. | 7AI says it can build, implement in production and provide a capability within 24 hours. |
| Human role | Analysts perform much of the triage, correlation and response work. | AI performs more of the repetitive work while customer-defined oversight remains important for consequential actions. |
| Architecture claim | AI is commonly added to an established SOC workflow. | 7AI describes its platform as AI-first or AI-native rather than an add-on. |
7AI also reports an automation range of about 80% to 95%. That is a company claim, not a third-party benchmark, and the reporting does not define which tasks, data sets or operating conditions produce the range. Buyers should therefore treat it as a performance hypothesis to validate in their own environment.

Does this mean a company should replace its SIEM or SOC?
Not automatically. The warning is about response capacity, not a universal instruction to discard existing security controls. A company considering an agentic design should first identify where its current process loses time: collecting data, writing detections, investigating alerts, obtaining approvals or executing containment.
Questions to answer before changing architecture
- Which telemetry sources can the system access, and where is that data stored?
- Can proposed actions be limited by policy, approval gates and rollback procedures?
- How will the organization measure false positives, missed incidents, investigation time and analyst workload?
- Can existing identity, endpoint, cloud and ticketing systems be integrated without creating a second, disconnected data silo?
- What happens when the model is uncertain, the data is incomplete or an automated action could disrupt production?
A phased deployment—starting with investigation and hunting, then moving to tightly bounded response actions—can provide evidence without granting an unfamiliar system unrestricted control. The appropriate comparison is not “AI versus humans”; it is whether the combined workflow improves detection quality and containment speed while preserving accountability.

How soon could AI attacks get worse?
Div’s timeline is a warning rather than a quantified forecast. He points to improving code-generation systems, automated vulnerability discovery, adaptable attack behavior and open-weight models as reasons the offensive side could scale quickly. None of the cited coverage establishes a date when attacks will become dominant, or an independent rate of increase.

That uncertainty matters for planning. Security leaders can prepare for a shorter attacker decision cycle without claiming that a wave of autonomous attacks is already measurable. Useful near-term exercises include testing how quickly a new indicator becomes a detection, how many investigation steps can be safely automated and whether responders can audit every model-generated decision.

How 7AI works with MSSPs and other channel partners
7AI is pursuing a channel-first commercial model. CRN reports that the company launched its first formal channel program in July and has relationships with GuidePoint Security and DXC Technology. Div describes three partner paths: software resellers, managed security service providers (MSSPs) and managed detection and response (MDR) providers that use 7AI technology to serve customers.
The partnership model is significant because an agentic SOC still has to be integrated into each customer’s identity, endpoint, cloud and incident-response processes. A reseller may introduce the platform; an MSSP or MDR provider may operate it as part of a managed service. Div said, “There is not a single deal that we’ve closed so far—and [7AI has] closed many—that has been done alone.”
Public reporting does not establish open-enrollment terms, commission rates or a standard partner margin. Organizations evaluating a channel-led deployment should ask who owns configuration, who approves automated actions, how incidents are escalated and which party is responsible for measuring outcomes.

- 7AI launched in 2024, according to CRN’s 2026 reporting.
- The company raised a $130 million Series A in December 2025 led by Index Ventures.
- 7AI says it can automate about 80% to 95% of SOC work, investigate some cases in under 10 minutes and deliver a new capability in a 24-hour cycle.
- Those speed and automation figures are attributed to Div and 7AI and are not independent tests.
- The cited sources do not provide an independent statistic proving the prevalence, growth rate or success rate of agentic cyberattacks.
The practical message is narrower than a prediction of imminent collapse: defenders should test faster, more adaptive operating models before attackers’ access to capable models makes the transition urgent.
