No: these seven Roblox horror games are not all based on verified real events. The list combines an inspiration attributed to a real disaster, personal accounts, Japanese folklore, and fictional or creepypasta material. The distinction matters: a game’s description or an article’s account of its inspiration is not independent proof that the story happened as portrayed.
What “based on a true story” means for these games
The seven experiences below draw on different kinds of source material. Some are linked to reported events or personal accounts; one takes its premise from an urban legend; others mix submitted stories, online horror lore, and invented details. Developers can also transform an inspiration with fictional characters, supernatural threats, and new plot events.

That blend is part of Roblox creepypasta play: an academic study describes how game adaptations let players experience creepy lore and legends while playing with the possibility that something might be true. That context explains the appeal, but it does not verify any individual game’s backstory. Read the study.

1. 99 Nights in the Forest — disaster inspiration with supernatural fiction
TechWiser’s September 25, 2026 article links the game’s search for four missing children in a forest to the 2023 Colombian Amazon plane crash. TechWiser reports that the four children survived for around 40 days before rescuers found them. That duration is the article’s reported figure; it is not independently confirmed by the sources cited here.

Nefarious Game Studio describes its Roblox experience this way: “Burrowed Fears is an episodic psychological horror game based on true events.” The listing also says it is inspired by Fears to Fathom, a horror series that TechWiser describes as drawing on real-life accounts while noting that its developer has acknowledged inventing some scenarios.

TechWiser says the developer presents Movie Massacre as based on a fan-submitted account about working a night shift at a video-rental store while an escaped killer clown is on the loose. That is an attributed submission, not a verified incident. TechWiser’s author also says they found the account difficult to believe, underscoring that the story should not be treated as established fact. TechWiser’s description.

4. Woodbury Getaway — an account attributed to Sydney Harper
The game’s story is attributed by TechWiser to accounts from Sydney Harper about a snowy weekend cabin trip in Vermont and unsettling encounters there. The article says the developer adds fictional and supernatural elements. The available account establishes what the game is said to draw from, not that every event in its horror plot happened. TechWiser’s description.
5. Survive Teke-Teke! — Japanese urban legend
This game draws on Teke-Teke, a Japanese urban legend about the ghost of a person killed by a train. It belongs in the folklore category, not the confirmed-real-event category: TechWiser explicitly distinguishes the legend from a verified incident. TechWiser’s description.

6. 100 Days At Sea — survival and Bermuda Triangle mystery tales
TechWiser describes a survival game about gathering resources, building a raft, exploring islands, and rescuing survivors. Its story is associated with Bermuda Triangle mystery tales. That connection is a storytelling inspiration; the article does not establish that the game depicts a specific documented disappearance. TechWiser’s description.

7. Scary Grocery: The Night Shift — creepypasta and fictional accounts
In this game, players check customers and shoot doppelgangers. TechWiser links its inspiration to Shift At Midnight and describes the backstory material as a mix of accounts, Reddit creepypastas, and fiction—not one verified event. The premise is best read as internet horror assembled for gameplay rather than a claim about a single documented case. TechWiser’s description.
