Songs of Glimmerwick turns music into magic: play songs to cast spells, then spend your days at a witch academy taking classes, tending a garden, exploring and getting to know your classmates. Seven short clips highlighted by PC Gamer offer a glimpse of that mix, from flute spell practice to one notably prickly shrub. They are an inviting introduction, not a full review: writer Lauren Morton said she had played the demo earlier and had only brief time with the full game.
What kind of game is Songs of Glimmerwick?
Eastshade Studios describes Songs of Glimmerwick as “A story-driven witch academy RPG where magic is cast through music.” Its official description connects songs to practical magic, including work in the garden and exploration. Around that central mechanic, school life includes classes, clubs, friendships, seasonal events and story quests. The result is a fantasy-school adventure whose appeal rests on both musical spellcasting and everyday campus routines.

The first moment introduces the Etchery School of Magic and Melody, setting the scene for the game’s cozy fantasy-school atmosphere.
2. Music-assisted gardening
A song helps with garden work, showing how the musical magic connects to an ordinary school task. Gardening is also one of the activities highlighted in the developer’s description.

3. Crystal-ball calls
One clip treats crystal balls like phones. It is a playful bit of worldbuilding, rather than evidence of a larger calling or messaging system.
4. Flute practice for spells
The player practices a spell through a flute rhythm game. The official site identifies a flute and songbook as the player’s tools, making this one of the clearest glimpses of how music becomes magic.
5. Brewing a potion
Morton describes the potion-brewing minigame as fun and hectic. That is her impression of the moment, not a measure of how the activity works across the full game.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute6. A roommate’s magical experiments
A roommate’s experiment goes badly, providing a brief character-comedy scene. The clip suggests the game makes room for mishaps between classmates, but does not establish how its broader friendship or relationship systems work.
Rank #3
7. One prickly shrub
The final clip features a shrub that is, quite literally, prickly. It is a small comic encounter; it should not be taken as proof that the game has a general combat or enemy system.
