7 Days to Die Crossplay Server Guide: Set Up PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Play

Yes—PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players can play 7 Days to Die together. The supported arrangement is a compatible dedicated server running the vanilla game, with crossplay enabled, Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) enabled, approved game-setting values, and no more than eight players. The Fun Pimps added this support in version 1.2, announced December 10, 2024. A console player cannot join an arbitrary modded PC server, and a server with one invalid crossplay setting may disappear from the console browser altogether.

What crossplay supports

The current cross-platform combination is PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The Fun Pimps’ version 1.2 announcement states that “Players on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC can now enjoy cross-platform gameplay.” It also sets two hard planning limits: a maximum supported crossplay population of eight players and a world size of 8192.

Crossplay is tied to a dedicated server rather than a normal local save hosted from a player’s console. A hosted server can remain online while its owner is away; a self-hosted dedicated server can do the same only while the owner’s computer and internet connection remain available. All participating players still need accounts and game versions that support the same crossplay release.

Crossplay requirements at a glance

Set these requirements before inviting anyone. The official Help Center identifies the values below as the console-compatible baseline; Nitrado’s documented crossplay configuration uses the same rules.

#1 Best Overall
7 Days to Die – Console Edition - PlayStation 5
  • Explore – Huge, rich environments, with unique biomes and worlds up to 100 square kilometres in size.
  • Craft – Handcraft and repair weapons, clothes, armour, tools, vehicles, with hundreds of recipes and schematics.
  • Build – Design your fort with traps, electricity, auto turrets, and gadgets to survive in a fully destructible and mouldable world.
  • Cooperate or Compete – Work together to build settlements or against each other in a wasteland where zombies and outlaws rule the land.
  • Farm or Hunt – Plant gardens for sustainable resources or head out to the wilderness and hunt over a dozen unique animals.
Requirement Required value or limit Why it matters
Server type Dedicated server Cross-platform sessions use a server that runs independently of one player’s local game.
Game files Vanilla; no gameplay mods Console clients cannot join a server whose files require PC-only mods.
ServerMaxPlayerCount 8 or fewer Eight is the official crossplay maximum, not merely a hosting-plan suggestion.
ServerAllowCrossplay True Exposes the server to supported console and PC clients.
EACEnabled True EAC must be active for crossplay.
IgnoreEOSSanctions False Matches the official console-compatible configuration.
PC client setting EAC Protected: On A PC player must launch with EAC protection enabled.
General client setting Crossplay Enabled: On Both PC and console clients must allow crossplay.
World size 8192 The official announcement lists 8192 as the supported crossplay world size.

The player cap and world-size limits come from the Fun Pimps’ version 1.2 announcement. The setting requirements and accepted ranges come from the official Help Center, updated April 21, 2026. Because server software and policies can change, check the current Help Center entry when you update the game.

Official setting ranges you must respect

Crossplay validation is stricter than ordinary PC server configuration. Use the following ranges exactly unless the Help Center explicitly marks a field as disableable with 0. A value outside a listed range can trigger a “non-standard game settings” error or prevent the server from appearing in the console browser.

Setting Accepted crossplay range Practical interpretation
XPMultiplier 25–300 Keep the percentage inside this inclusive range.
DayNightLength 10 or higher Do not use a shorter day-night cycle than the supported minimum.
BloodMoonEnemyCount 4–64 Use at least four and no more than 64 enemies for the blood moon setting.
BlockDamagePlayer 25–300 Player block damage must remain inside this range.
BlockDamageAI 25 or higher AI block damage cannot be set below 25.
BlockDamageAIBM 25 or higher Blood-moon AI block damage has the same minimum.
LootAbundance 200 or lower Do not exceed 200 percent.
LootRespawnDays 5 or higher Use a respawn interval of at least five days.

The Help Center notes that some settings can be disabled with 0. That exception is field-specific; do not assume that entering zero is valid for every row. If you changed several values on a PC-only server, restore the official defaults or ranges first, then test crossplay before making further adjustments.

Set up a hosted crossplay server

A hosted dedicated server is the least complicated option for a group that plays at different times. The provider keeps the machine online and supplies a web control panel, so the world does not depend on the owner leaving a gaming PC running. Nitrado’s published workflow is a useful concrete example of the screens and order involved.

  1. Stop the server. In the hosting web interface, stop the instance before changing crossplay options. Editing a live configuration can leave the old process running with the old rules.
  2. Open the general settings. Select Settings > General, then scroll to the Crossplay section.
  3. Enable the crossplay switch. Turn Allow Crossplay on. Confirm that the server has no more than eight player slots.
  4. Check security and compatibility fields. Keep EAC enabled, set EOS sanctions to false (the interface may label this as an option to ignore sanctions), and verify that the server is vanilla with mods disabled.
  5. Review gameplay values. Compare every configurable value with the accepted ranges in the table above. Correct non-standard values now rather than troubleshooting browser visibility later.
  6. Save the configuration. Use the panel’s save or apply control and wait for confirmation that the file has been written.
  7. Restart the server. Start the instance again and allow it to finish loading. A restart is required for the crossplay flag and many setting changes to take effect.

Do not give players the address until the restart completes. A server can be running while still loading its world, and joining during that interval can produce a timeout that looks like a platform incompatibility.

Configure a self-hosted dedicated server

Self-hosting avoids a recurring hosting bill and gives the owner direct access to the files, but it transfers every operational responsibility to that owner. Install the official dedicated-server software on a computer that can remain powered on, apply the same crossplay settings and limits, and keep the game and server versions aligned.

7 Days to Die – Console Edition Survival Bundle - PlayStation 5
  • Explore – Huge, rich environments, with unique biomes and worlds up to 100 square kilometres in size.
  • Craft – Handcraft and repair weapons, clothes, armour, tools, vehicles, with hundreds of recipes and schematics.
  • Build – Design your fort with traps, electricity, auto turrets, and gadgets to survive in a fully destructible and mouldable world.
  • Cooperate or Compete – Work together to build settlements or against each other in a wasteland where zombies and outlaws rule the land.
  • A must-have for collectors and fans of Open-World Survival Horror, the 7 Days to Die – Console Edition Survival Bundle includes the following: An exclusive Artbook with over 100 pages showcasing never-before-seen illustrations of the zombie apocalypse, a CD featuring the haunting Original Soundtrack (OST) of the game, a double-sided poster, Fine art prints x3, Sticker sheets x 3, the physical game, and a collectible tuck-in box housing all the contents.
  • Uptime: the computer and its network connection must be available whenever friends want to play.
  • Resources: the server shares CPU, memory, storage and bandwidth with any game or other services running on that machine.
  • Network exposure: you must handle firewall and router configuration, protect the administrative interface, and understand which ports the current server documentation requires. Do not open more services than necessary.
  • Backups: copy the world and configuration files on a schedule and keep at least one backup away from the server computer.
  • Updates: test game and server updates before applying them to a world that friends rely on; keep a rollback copy first.

Self-hosting is practical for occasional sessions when one person can manage the machine. For a persistent world with players joining while the owner is offline, a hosted dedicated server is usually the simpler arrangement.

Have PC, PS5 and Xbox players join

  1. Finish the server restart. The owner should confirm that the instance is online and that the panel reports the new configuration.
  2. Enable the client options. On PC, set EAC Protected to On and General > Crossplay Enabled to On. Console players should also leave the general crossplay option enabled.
  3. Open the server browser. Have each player search for the server by its exact name. Search from the crossplay-capable browser rather than a PC-only favorites list.
  4. Join with the platform account. Select the server and join using the player’s normal Xbox, PlayStation or PC account. The server owner does not need to be in the world for a dedicated server to accept a connection.
  5. Test one player at a time. Add a PC player, then one console player, before inviting the full group. This isolates an account or browser problem from a server configuration problem.

If the server is not listed, do not immediately change network settings. First recheck the crossplay flag, EAC, the eight-player cap, vanilla files and every numeric range. The official troubleshooting guidance also recommends trying the peer-to-peer tab or a SteamID search when those options are available in the browser.

Why console players cannot see or join the server

Crossplay is off at the server

A server can appear healthy to PC players while remaining invisible to consoles if ServerAllowCrossplay is false or if the hosting panel’s Allow Crossplay switch was never saved. Stop the server, confirm the value, save, and restart.

EAC is disabled

Crossplay requires EAC on the server and on the PC client. Set EACEnabled to True, launch the PC game with EAC Protected on, and restart the server after changing the setting. A console player cannot compensate for a PC client that launched without protection.

A setting is outside the accepted range

The “non-standard game settings” message is a compatibility failure, not evidence that the console network is down. Compare the configuration line by line with the official range table, including less obvious fields such as BlockDamageAIBM and LootRespawnDays. Restore an approved value, save, restart, and search again.

The server uses mods

Mods that alter server files or add content prevent console participation. Remove the mods and restore a vanilla installation for the shared world. If the PC group needs mods, keep a separate PC-only server and a separate save; do not alternate a console world between modded and vanilla files.

  • A double-sided poster

The player cap is too high

Crossplay supports eight players maximum. A larger slot count can keep the server out of the console listing even if only a few people intend to play. Set the cap to eight or lower and restart.

The client is searching the wrong place

Ask the player to enable crossplay in the game’s general settings, refresh the browser after the server has fully started, and search the exact server name. On PC, try the peer-to-peer tab or SteamID search if the browser provides those choices. These steps address discovery without weakening EAC or changing supported gameplay values.

Versions or account services do not match

Crossplay depends on compatible game and server builds and functioning platform-account services. Update the server and clients to the same supported release, then restart the server. If only one player fails while others can join, have that player restart the game, confirm the account is online, and repeat the browser search before altering the server.

Hosted versus self-hosted: which fits your group?

Decision factor Hosted dedicated server Self-hosted dedicated server
Setup effort Choose a plan, set values in a web panel, and restart. Install and maintain server software, files, firewall and router settings.
Availability Designed to stay online while the owner is away, subject to the provider’s service. Online only while the host computer, server process and connection are available.
Control Convenient controls, with limits imposed by the provider’s panel and policies. Direct control of files, processes, backups and update timing.
Recurring cost Monthly or periodic hosting charge; current price depends on region and plan. No hosting subscription, but the owner pays in electricity, hardware and maintenance time.
Backups May be available through the provider; verify retention and restore tools. Entirely the owner’s responsibility.
Network exposure Provider operates the public endpoint; you still protect account credentials. You expose and secure your own home connection and administrative services.
Best use A persistent world for friends who join on different schedules. Occasional sessions for an owner comfortable administering a server.

Nitrado describes its standard and crossplay servers as supporting up to eight players and documents the crossplay workflow above. Prices, data-center regions, backup policies and support levels change, so verify those details on the provider’s current plan page before paying.

Keep a crossplay world stable

Make a pre-change backup

Download or copy the world save and the server configuration before changing settings, installing an update or migrating hosts. Name backups with the date and game version. A backup is useful only if you know where it is stored and have confirmed that it can be restored.

Change one category at a time

When troubleshooting, first restore compatibility settings, then test discovery, then adjust ordinary gameplay options within the approved ranges. Changing networking, EAC, mods and loot settings simultaneously makes it impossible to identify the cause of a failure.

Separate modded and crossplay saves

Maintain a vanilla save for the PC-and-console group. Keep any modded PC save in another directory or on another server so that a mod installation cannot damage the shared world or block console access.

Plan updates around your players

Announce maintenance before restarting. Stop the server cleanly, make a backup, apply the update, verify the crossplay flags and ranges, and let the server finish loading before players connect. If an update changes compatibility, restore the prior server build and backup rather than experimenting on the only copy of the world.

Choosing a hosting plan for crossplay

Do not choose solely by advertised player slots. Confirm these points with the provider’s current documentation:

  • Explicit support for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S crossplay, not just PC multiplayer.
  • A hard limit or validator that prevents more than eight crossplay slots.
  • Direct controls for crossplay, EAC, EOS-sanction settings and the gameplay ranges listed above.
  • A way to disable or remove mods for the vanilla crossplay instance.
  • Automated backups, stated retention, and a documented restore process.
  • A server region close to most players and support coverage that matches your play schedule.
  • Clear terms for suspension, world ownership, data export and cancellation.

These checks matter more than a low introductory price because an apparently cheap plan that cannot validate console-compatible settings will not solve the joining problem.

Crossplay checklist before inviting friends

  • PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players are using supported game versions.
  • The server is dedicated, vanilla and free of mods.
  • ServerAllowCrossplay=True.
  • EACEnabled=True, with EAC Protected on for PC players.
  • IgnoreEOSSanctions=False.
  • ServerMaxPlayerCount is 8 or lower.
  • World size is 8192.
  • Every listed gameplay value is inside its official range.
  • General > Crossplay Enabled is on for clients.
  • The server has been saved, restarted and allowed to finish loading.
  • A test player from each platform can find and join before the full group connects.

Bottom line

For a reliable PC-and-console world, use a vanilla dedicated server with crossplay and EAC enabled, no more than eight slots, an 8192 world, and only the official supported setting ranges. Hosted service is the easiest persistent option; self-hosting is workable when you accept responsibility for uptime, networking, updates and backups. When consoles cannot see the server, validate configuration and mods first—the browser and network are usually not the first things to change.
