This ranking puts it first, followed by a new epic, a superhero detective story, and films that show how widely Pattinson has ranged since Twilight. “Best” is subjective, so the right first watch depends on whether you want suspense, spectacle, horror, or romance.
What are the 7 best Robert Pattinson movies?
This performance-focused order follows a list published by Dan Girolamo in Tom’s Guide on September 27, 2026. It is an editorial ranking, not an objective measurement of which film audiences like most.

Why each film belongs on the list
1. Good Time (2017): the most gripping performance
Pattinson plays Connie, a desperate man trying to get his brother out of jail after a robbery goes wrong. The overnight scramble keeps tightening the pressure, and Pattinson makes Connie’s reckless choices feel both alarming and painfully human. The role also marked a striking break from the heartthrob image many viewers associated with him after Twilight.
Rotten Tomatoes listed the film at 91% on its Tomatometer when accessed in 2026. That score is a live critic-review aggregate, not proof that this is the only defensible top pick. Check the current Rotten Tomatoes listing for Good Time.
#1 Best Overall
2. The Odyssey (2026): Pattinson in epic mode
Christopher Nolan adapts Homer’s story of Odysseus’s dangerous journey home after the Trojan War, with Pattinson among the ensemble cast. Its scale and mythic adventure offer a very different setting from the intimate pressure of Good Time. The ranking was published soon after the film’s release, so this placement reflects an early critical response to Pattinson’s work rather than a long-settled consensus.
3. The Batman (2022): a detective story in superhero clothing
Matt Reeves’s film follows a comparatively early-career Bruce Wayne as Batman investigates murders and corruption in Gotham. Pattinson’s restrained, brooding approach suits a story driven as much by investigation and atmosphere as by action. It is a natural choice if you want a major studio film that still gives its lead room to play a troubled, inward-looking character.

In Robert Eggers’s psychological horror film, Pattinson and Willem Dafoe play lighthouse keepers isolated on a remote New England island. Monochrome imagery, a confined setting, and increasingly unstable performances make it a deliberately demanding watch rather than an easygoing horror pick. Rotten Tomatoes listed it at 90% on its Tomatometer when accessed in 2026; the figure is a live aggregate, not a timeless rating. See the current Rotten Tomatoes listing for The Lighthouse.
Rank #3
5. Tenet (2020): a puzzle-box action film
Christopher Nolan’s espionage science-fiction film casts Pattinson as Neil, an enigmatic partner to John David Washington’s Protagonist. Its time mechanics are intentionally difficult to track, which is part of the appeal for viewers who enjoy action built around a puzzle. Choose it for kinetic spectacle and a cool, understated Pattinson performance, not for a plot that explains every detail on first viewing.
6. The Drama (2026): awkwardness and tonal shifts
This relationship comedy-drama pairs Pattinson and Zendaya as an engaged couple whose wedding week is disrupted by a secret. The ranking’s praise for Pattinson’s anxious, uncomfortable performance is the author’s judgment, not an objective measure. A24’s film index lists both actors among the stars. Check A24’s film index for The Drama.
Rank #4
7. Twilight (2008): the career-making phenomenon
Pattinson’s Edward Cullen made him a franchise star and remains the entry point many viewers know best. Its place here recognizes its impact on his career and its enduring attachment among fans, rather than claiming it is his most accomplished dramatic performance. Watching it alongside his later, more eccentric roles makes the range of his career especially clear.

How to check where the films are available
Streaming, rental, and purchase options change over time and vary by country. A listing that applies in one market may not apply in another, and a service’s catalogue can change after publication. Search the exact title in your local streaming guide or the services available to you, then confirm the current rental or subscription terms before pressing play. JustWatch maintains a title-by-title availability guide, but its results are date- and region-dependent. Check JustWatch for your market.
The Odyssey was not included in the Tom’s Guide ranking’s discussion of Primetime: the article said it left out the new release because many readers might not have seen it. The omission was a recency choice, not a judgment about its quality.
