OmniVoice’s authors report coverage of more than 600 languages, while ElevenLabs publishes separate language counts for each model family. Neither number proves that every supported language will sound fluent, native, or like the reference speaker. There is no controlled independent comparison here that establishes a universal winner.
For a useful choice, compare the specific models and workflows you would use. Test the same text, target language, delivery style, and—where accepted—the same voice reference in both. Then judge pronunciation, intelligibility, accent, speaker similarity, expression, and practical setup on your own material.

What does “600+ languages” refer to?
OmniVoice is a multilingual text-to-speech (TTS) and zero-shot voice-cloning model. Its authors’ April 2026 paper reports coverage of more than 600 languages and describes training on a 581,000-hour multilingual dataset curated from open-source data. Those are the paper’s claims about the model and its training data, not a guarantee of equally strong output in every language.

ElevenLabs’ published figures are model-specific. Its documentation, accessed in 2026, lists 90+ languages for Eleven v4, 70+ for Eleven v3, 29 for Multilingual v2, and 32 for Flash v2.5. These counts should not be combined into a single platform-wide figure or treated as directly comparable with OmniVoice’s headline count without checking which model, version, and feature you intend to use.

| Option | Published language coverage | Documented positioning | What the figure does not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| OmniVoice | More than 600 languages, as reported by the authors in their April 2026 paper | Zero-shot multilingual TTS and reference-based voice cloning | That every language has equal quality, native pronunciation, or reliable voice similarity |
| Eleven v4 | 90+ languages, according to ElevenLabs documentation accessed in 2026 | ElevenLabs describes this model family as offering voice-cloning capability | That it supports the same languages or gives the same results as OmniVoice |
| Eleven v3 | 70+ languages, according to ElevenLabs documentation accessed in 2026 | A model family with its own language and feature coverage | That its count or performance applies to other ElevenLabs models |
| ElevenLabs Multilingual v2 | 29 languages, according to ElevenLabs documentation accessed in 2026 | Positioned by ElevenLabs for stable long-form generation | That “stable” is an independent comparative result |
| ElevenLabs Flash v2.5 | 32 languages, according to ElevenLabs documentation accessed in 2026 | Positioned by ElevenLabs for low-latency generation | That lower latency means better pronunciation or voice similarity |
The counts above come from different product descriptions and are not an apples-to-apples quality test. Before choosing, check whether the exact language and writing system you need are supported by the particular model or checkpoint you plan to use.
Is OmniVoice better than ElevenLabs?
There is no evidence here for a universal “better” verdict. The published language counts indicate breadth, not comparative listening quality. The available material does not provide a controlled independent test using equivalent voices, prompts, languages, and model versions.

The practical distinction is partly about what you want to operate. ElevenLabs presents several hosted model options with different published coverage and positioning. OmniVoice’s paper reports public code and pretrained models, and its project documentation describes voice cloning, voice design, training, evaluation, and fine-tuning workflows. Public availability can suit people who want to work with an open model, but it does not by itself establish that deployment is simple, free, or feasible on a particular machine.

Voice training and voice cloning are different workflows
“Voice training” can mean building or adapting a model from audio, while “voice cloning” may mean generating speech from a supplied reference sample without training a dedicated model. The names can sound interchangeable, but the workflows are not.

ElevenLabs: Instant and Professional Voice Cloning
ElevenLabs documents both Instant Voice Cloning and Professional Voice Cloning (PVC). PVC uses extended training audio. The source material does not establish equivalent audio requirements or setup times for the two options, so check the current instructions for the specific feature in your account before recording or preparing a sample.
OmniVoice: zero-shot reference-based cloning
OmniVoice describes zero-shot voice cloning: provide a voice reference rather than necessarily training a personal model first. Its project also documents other workflows, including voice design and training or fine-tuning. Zero-shot does not mean that any sample will work equally well, or that the voice will retain its identity across every language.

These descriptions establish different workflow categories, not a direct comparison of sample length, setup time, or output quality. Do not assume that an audio file prepared for one system meets the requirements of the other.
Does support for a language mean the voice will sound native?
No. A language count is a coverage claim, not a guarantee of native-sounding speech. ElevenLabs says the text determines the language, while the selected voice influences accent and pronunciation. Its help content also cautions that a clone based on a speaker who is not native to the target language may retain that accent or drift among similar languages.

That distinction matters when using one voice reference to generate speech in another language. A system may produce intelligible words yet mispronounce names, flatten regional distinctions, sound accented, or change speaker identity. Results can depend on the target language and the chosen reference voice, so assess both fluency and identity rather than relying on the language list alone.
How to run a fair, useful comparison
Use a repeatable trial that reflects the job you actually need to do. Keep the language, script, text, and delivery goal consistent. If both systems accept the same reference audio, use it; if their requirements differ, follow each system’s instructions and record the difference rather than pretending the setup was identical.
- Choose one target language and script. Confirm that the exact language is supported by the specific model or checkpoint, not merely by the service or project in general.
- Prepare a representative passage. Include ordinary sentences and the content that tends to expose errors in your use case, such as names, numbers, punctuation, or technical terms.
- Set the same delivery goal. Decide whether you need conversational speech, expressive narration, or consistent long-form reading. Use the closest equivalent settings each system offers and note any differences.
- Supply a reference voice where supported. Use the same sample when both workflows accept it. Follow each product’s audio instructions; do not assume identical sample requirements.
- Listen for separate failure types. Score intelligibility, pronunciation, accent retention, speaker similarity, expression, and consistency separately. A strong result on one measure does not compensate for a failure that matters to your audience.
- Repeat with more than one passage. A single short sentence may hide problems that appear in names, longer phrasing, or sustained narration.
- Check the operating fit. Note generation speed, setup effort, and any deployment needs for your actual workflow. The cited material does not settle total cost, licensing terms, or hardware requirements for an individual deployment, so verify those separately before committing.
For a decision that affects publication or a large batch of audio, have a fluent speaker of the target language review pronunciation and naturalness. A system’s ability to generate output is not proof that a native listener will find it accurate.

The published OmniVoice paper supplies a broad coverage claim and describes the model’s training dataset; project documentation describes available workflows. ElevenLabs’ documentation supplies model-specific language counts and vendor-described positioning. Those sources help identify candidates, but they do not establish an independent head-to-head winner across languages or use cases.
In particular, the available figures do not answer which model sounds more natural in your target language, preserves your voice more faithfully, or offers the best balance of quality and speed for your production. Those are questions to resolve with the same kind of test material, a qualified listener, and the current version of each candidate.
