Choose soundcore Space One Pro if portability and the shortest stated emergency charge are more important than absolute ANC-on endurance. It is rated for 60 hours without ANC, 40 hours with ANC, and eight hours after five minutes of charging.
Nothing Headphone (1) is an additional design-focused option. What Hi-Fi? reports 80 hours with ANC off and around 35 hours with noise cancelling on in its review sample, but that is a reviewer result, not a standardized cross-brand test.
Battery-life comparison
| Model | ANC on | ANC off | Quick-charge claim | How to read the number |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless | Up to 60 hours over Bluetooth | Not separately stated in the cited specification | About four hours from five minutes; approximately two hours for a full charge | Sennheiser’s 8 August 2026 specification cites an iPhone at mid volume. This is the leading documented ANC-on claim. |
| JBL Tour One M3 | 40 hours | 70 hours | Five hours from five minutes | The 70-hour headline figure is ANC-off. Use 40 hours when comparing normal ANC listening. |
| soundcore Space One Pro | 40 hours | 60 hours | Eight hours from five minutes | The quick-charge claim is unusually high, but its ANC-on endurance is below the MOMENTUM 4 rating. |
| Nothing Headphone (1) | Around 35 hours | 80 hours | Not stated in the cited review | What Hi-Fi? measured these figures in a review sample. They are useful context, not a uniform laboratory comparison. |
| Sony WH-CH720N | 35 hours | 50 hours | Not stated in the cited guide | What Hi-Fi?’s 2026 guide lists these figures; its rankings are editorial judgments rather than battery certification. |
Every figure above is a claim from the named manufacturer or reviewer. There is no common test protocol covering all models. Listening volume, wireless codec, microphones, spatial or immersive modes, call use, temperature, and the strength of the Bluetooth connection can change the result.

Why ANC-on runtime is the number that matters
Manufacturers commonly publish a maximum figure with ANC and other power-consuming features disabled. That number is useful if you listen in a quiet room, but it can overstate the endurance you will get on an aircraft or train.
For a fair shortlist, record two values for every model: maximum playback with ANC disabled and playback with ANC enabled. The second value should drive the ranking for commuters, frequent flyers, students in shared spaces, and office workers who leave noise cancellation on all day.
Do not convert a rating directly into a guaranteed number of days. A person listening at low volume for two hours daily may go much longer between charges than someone using high volume, frequent calls, transparency mode, and spatial processing. Bose summarizes the general limitation on its official page: “Battery life varies based on settings and usage.”
Top pick: Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless
What the specification says
Sennheiser’s current support specification, dated 8 August 2026, lists up to 60 hours of music playback via Bluetooth with ANC active. The stated test condition is an iPhone at a mid volume level. The same specification says a full charge takes approximately two hours and that five minutes of charging provides up to four hours of playback.
Rank #2
- Charge once and cover nearly two full work weeks. ANC mode still delivers 40+ hours — enough for a long-haul flight and the week after.
- Powerful 40mm drivers deliver rich, full-range sound, while Lab Spatial Audio creates an immersive listening experience. Choose from EQ modes or customize your sound in the JLab App.
- Hybrid ANC blocks up to 35 dB of noise, while Be Aware Mode helps you stay aware of your surroundings.
- Wireless Share Mode lets you share audio with another pair of compatible JLab headphones. Bluetooth Multipoint keeps you connected to two devices for seamless switching, or use the included USB-C cable to listen with a wired connection.
- Tune your EQ, adjust ANC and Be Aware levels, remap controls, and set safe-hearing limits. Backed by JLab’s 2-year warranty.
That combination makes the MOMENTUM 4 the clearest choice when your definition of best battery life is the longest published runtime while noise cancellation remains on. The 60-hour value is still conditional: it is Sennheiser’s own specification, not an independent endurance test, and your phone, volume, codec, call time, and features can reduce it.
Who should buy it
- Travelers who want ANC active for long flights and airport waits.
- Commuters who prefer not to charge during a workweek.
- Listeners who prioritize ANC-on endurance over the fastest emergency recharge.
What to check before buying
- Confirm that the current listing and regional support page match the MOMENTUM 4 model, since specifications can vary by generation or market.
- Compare the supplied charging cable and your phone’s charging adapter; the two-hour full-charge statement assumes the manufacturer’s stated charging conditions.
- If you use a wired source, check whether the headphones remain powered for ANC and how that mode affects your particular setup.
JBL Tour One M3: the feature-rich alternative
Separate the two runtime modes
JBL states that Tour One M3 provides 70 hours of Bluetooth music and calls between charges, then qualifies that claim with 40 hours when ANC is on. For a buyer who rarely uses noise cancellation, 70 hours is relevant. For a traveler, the 40-hour figure is the correct comparison with other ANC headphones.
Charging and travel features
JBL says five minutes of charging adds five hours of playback. That can cover a commute or several meetings after a short stop at a charger, although it is still a manufacturer-stated quick-charge result rather than a guarantee for every listening setup.
The product page also lists adaptive ANC and a wired 3.5 mm connection. Adaptive ANC can be useful when environmental noise changes, while a cable can preserve listening when wireless use is restricted on some aircraft. Wired operation does not automatically mean ANC works without battery power, so verify the behavior in the manual before relying on it during a trip.

Best fit for this guide
Tour One M3 belongs on a shortlist for someone who wants substantial battery life, adaptive noise control, and a fast top-up. It is not the ANC-on battery winner because its 40-hour claim is materially below Sennheiser’s 60-hour rating.
soundcore Space One Pro: fastest stated five-minute recovery
Runtime figures
soundcore lists Space One Pro at up to 60 hours without ANC and 40 hours with ANC. That 20-hour gap shows why the operating mode must appear beside the headline maximum in any comparison.
Quick-charge advantage
The product page says five minutes of recharge provides eight hours of music. Among the models with documented figures here, that is the strongest stated recovery from a very short charge. It is valuable when you discover a low battery immediately before a flight or commute.
Rank #3
- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.
- 40 Hours. 5-Minute Top-Up: With ANC on, a single charge keeps you listening through days of commutes and long-haul flights. Running low? Just 5 minutes plugged in gives you 4 more hours — so you're never stuck waiting.
- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.
How to weigh the trade-off
Space One Pro makes sense when you can charge briefly and often, or when a compact travel setup matters more than the longest continuous ANC session. If you need the fewest charging events over several days of ANC listening, compare its 40-hour ANC figure directly with the MOMENTUM 4’s 60-hour rating instead of using the 60-hour ANC-off headline.
Nothing Headphone (1): an independent-review reference point
What Hi-Fi?’s review of Nothing Headphone (1) reports 80 hours with ANC off and around 35 hours with noise cancelling on. Those are results from the reviewer’s sample, not a manufacturer-to-manufacturer standardized measurement. They show how a very high ANC-off number can coexist with a much lower ANC-on result.
Use this model as a design-focused alternative if its controls, software, or appearance appeal to you, but do not treat the 80-hour figure as evidence that it will outlast the other headphones during ANC use. The relevant comparison for that scenario is approximately 35 hours, and even that result belongs to the reviewer’s test conditions.
Sony WH-CH720N and other context
What Hi-Fi?’s 2026 over-ear guide lists Sony WH-CH720N at 35 hours with ANC and Bluetooth enabled, and 50 hours with both turned off. The figures help place a more affordable, mainstream option in context, but the guide’s product choices are editorial judgments rather than laboratory certification.
Bose’s official noise-cancelling page illustrates why model generation and feature mode matter. Its cited production-representative QuietComfort Ultra test reports up to 24 hours with Immersive Audio off and up to 18 hours with it on, at 75 dB playback loudness and ANC in Quiet Mode. The page includes 2023 and 2025 test notes, so confirm the exact generation and current listing before using those figures to choose a model.

Long flights and international travel
Start with the ANC-on figure, then check charging recovery and wired connectivity. The MOMENTUM 4 has the highest documented ANC-on rating here. Tour One M3’s five-minute/five-hour claim and 3.5 mm input are useful if you often leave the gate with a low battery. Space One Pro’s five-minute/eight-hour claim is even stronger for emergency charging.
Daily commuting
Estimate your actual ANC hours rather than relying on a calendar promise. A one-hour round trip five days a week is very different from a four-hour daily commute. Pick the model whose ANC-on rating leaves margin for calls, transparency mode, and occasional higher-volume listening.

Office, study, and shared spaces
Comfort and fit can determine whether you keep ANC enabled, but no comfort ranking is established by the cited sources. Try the headphones with your glasses, hairstyle, or preferred clamping pressure where returns are available. A theoretically long battery is less useful if you remove the headset frequently because the fit is uncomfortable.
Mostly quiet rooms
If ANC is normally off, the ranking changes. Tour One M3’s 70-hour claim and Nothing Headphone (1)’s reviewer-reported 80 hours become relevant, while Space One Pro is rated at 60 hours. Confirm whether calls, microphones, spatial effects, or automatic standby are included in the manufacturer’s stated mode.

Charging math that helps in real life
Quick-charge claims are easier to compare when expressed as hours of stated playback per minute of charging:
| Model | Stated recovery | Approximate stated hours per charging minute |
|---|---|---|
| JBL Tour One M3 | Five hours after five minutes | 1 hour per minute |
| soundcore Space One Pro | Eight hours after five minutes | 1.6 hours per minute |
| Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless | Up to four hours after five minutes | 0.8 hours per minute |
This ratio is only a way to read the published claims; it is not a cross-brand charging test. Battery level, charger output, temperature, cable, and simultaneous use can all affect recovery. Do not assume that a five-minute top-up always delivers the full advertised amount.
Features that can shorten runtime
- ANC and transparency processing: microphones and signal processing consume power, which is why ANC-on figures are lower for every model with both values documented.
- Higher volume: Sennheiser’s 60-hour figure is specified at a mid volume level, not maximum loudness.
- Calls: microphone operation and call processing can use a different power profile from music playback.
- Spatial or immersive audio: Bose’s cited test drops from 24 hours with Immersive Audio off to 18 hours with it on.
- Wireless conditions and codecs: a busy radio environment, higher-quality codec, or unstable connection may change consumption; the supplied specifications do not provide a common codec test.
- Temperature and battery age: published ratings describe test conditions, not the capacity of an older battery in extreme heat or cold.
A practical buying checklist
- Decide whether ANC will be on most of the time. If yes, sort by ANC-on hours first.
- Record the ANC-off number separately. It describes quiet-room use and should not replace the ANC-on value.
- Check the test qualification. Note the phone, volume, feature mode, and whether the number comes from a manufacturer or reviewer.
- Compare quick-charge recovery. Calculate how much stated playback a five-minute charge provides, but keep the claim’s manufacturer qualification.
- Verify charging and wired options. Confirm connector type, cable support, airline compatibility, and whether ANC works when wired.
- Evaluate fit and controls in your use case. Battery capacity cannot compensate for a poor seal, uncomfortable clamp, or controls you cannot operate reliably.
- Check the exact generation. Names such as QuietComfort Ultra can have different test notes and figures across release years.
- Leave margin. Select more runtime than your normal schedule requires so calls, higher volume, and cold-weather travel do not leave you without audio.
What these numbers do not prove
No source cited here establishes one independent, apples-to-apples battery test for all models. Sennheiser’s 60-hour figure, JBL’s 70/40-hour figures, and soundcore’s 60/40-hour figures are manufacturer claims. The Nothing figures come from a What Hi-Fi? review sample, and Sony’s figures come from What Hi-Fi?’s 2026 guide. Different phones, volumes, codecs, firmware, and feature settings can produce different outcomes.
Likewise, runtime alone cannot establish sound quality, ANC effectiveness, microphone quality, comfort, durability, or call performance. Those are separate buying decisions. Use the battery table to narrow the field, then verify the features that determine whether you will actually wear the headphones for the hours you want.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBottom line for long battery life with ANC
For the specific need of the longest documented over-ear battery life while ANC is active, Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless leads with a manufacturer-rated up to 60 hours under its stated iPhone and mid-volume condition. JBL Tour One M3 and soundcore Space One Pro both list 40 hours with ANC, while their longer 70-hour and 60-hour figures require ANC to be off. Space One Pro offers the strongest stated five-minute recovery, and Tour One M3 adds a wired 3.5 mm option. Treat every number as conditional, and choose according to the mode you will actually use.
