Android Central’s current top pick is the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026; its runner-up is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8, while the Motorola Razr 2026 is its budget choice. Three other models—OPPO Find N3 Flip, TECNO PHANTOM V Flip 2, and Xiaomi Mix Flip—are international options with significant availability and support caveats. Confirm local stock, warranty, and carrier compatibility before choosing any imported phone.
How to choose an Android flip phone
These are clamshell smartphones: they fold vertically to become shorter and more pocketable, then open into a full-size smartphone. They are not basic keypad feature phones. A large outer screen can handle more tasks without opening the phone, but cover-screen size alone does not establish how well apps work there.

Start with the practical buying checks below, then compare the phones on the features that matter to you:
- Availability and total price: Check the exact regional model, current price, and whether it is sold with local warranty service. Prices and stock change.
- Software support: Look for an explicit update commitment, especially if you keep phones for several years.
- Cover-screen utility: Check which apps and functions work while the phone is folded. A screen primarily designed for widgets may suit quick glances but not your preferred folded workflow.
- Durability and service: An IP rating is one useful specification, not a guarantee against damage. Several phones below have no IP rating listed in the cited guide.
- Carrier compatibility: Confirm the precise variant’s supported bands and your carrier’s requirements. An import can also make warranty claims and repair support more difficult.

1. Motorola Razr Ultra 2026: best overall in Android Central’s guide
Android Central names the Razr Ultra 2026 its best overall. Its listed specifications are flagship-oriented: a 7.0-inch LTPO AMOLED inner display, a 4.0-inch LTPO AMOLED cover display, Snapdragon 8 Elite, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery. Charging is listed at 68W wired, 30W wireless, and 5W reverse; its two rear cameras are 50MP main and 50MP ultrawide.
The large cover screen and fast charging help explain the guide’s favorable assessment, which also praises the phone’s chip, build, and finish. The counterpoint is value: Android Central calls the yearly change iterative and notes a $200 price increase over the previous generation. Consider it if you want a premium Razr with generous outer-screen space, but compare the price and available support in your market before treating the guide’s pick as the right buy for you.

Carrier unlocked device may retain original carrier logo on start up, while being fully unlocked
2. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8: runner-up with a long update commitment
Android Central’s runner-up is the Galaxy Z Flip 8. It lists a 6.9-inch 1–120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, 12GB of RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage, and a 4,300mAh battery. The guide says Samsung promises seven years of operating-system and security updates.
The 4.1-inch cover display is primarily for widgets and at-a-glance information. Running apps full-screen depends on Labs features, so whether it suits you depends on how you intend to use the phone while folded. The guide’s detailed specifications list 25W wired and 15W wireless charging; its summary gives a conflicting wireless figure, so confirm the exact regional specification if charging speed is decisive.
3. Motorola Razr 2026: the budget pick among these leading options
Android Central selects the Razr 2026 as its budget choice. It lists a 6.9-inch pOLED inner screen, 3.6-inch OLED cover screen, MediaTek Dimensity 7450X, 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, and a 4,800mAh battery. The rear camera pair is 50MP main and 50MP ultrawide; wired charging is listed at 30W and wireless charging at 15W.
The phone runs Android 16 and is eligible for up to three years of OS and security updates, according to Android Central. TechRadar reported a launch starting price of $799.99 / £799.99 and U.S. and U.K. availability at the time of its review, but not Australia or India. Those are launch and review-time details, not a promise of today’s price or availability; check current local listings. TechRadar’s Razr 2026 review provides that separate price and market snapshot.

The Find N3 Flip is the camera-oriented alternative in this group with a three-camera rear setup: 50MP main, 48MP ultrawide, and 32MP telephoto. Android Central lists a 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED inner display, 3.26-inch cover display, MediaTek Dimensity 9200, 12GB of RAM, 4,300mAh battery, and 44W wired charging. The cited guide says it has no wireless charging, has no IP rating, and is not available in North America.
Android Central also warns that an imported unit will not work on North American CDMA carriers. That is a specific compatibility warning, not a substitute for checking your own carrier: verify the exact model’s network bands and service support with both carrier and seller. With regional availability and after-sales service concerns, do not assume an import will be a straightforward purchase.

5. TECNO PHANTOM V Flip 2: an international budget alternative
Android Central positions the PHANTOM V Flip 2 as an international budget option. Its listed hardware includes a 6.9-inch FHD+ 120Hz LTPO AMOLED inner display, Dimensity 8020, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4,720mAh battery with 70W wired charging. It has dual 50MP rear cameras and a 32MP inner selfie camera.
The cited guide highlights charging speed and a lower price, but also notes weaker battery life than the other phones in its comparison, bloatware, and no IP rating. It is not available in North America according to that guide. Any price should be treated as region- and date-dependent; check local seller support and the exact model before considering an import.
6. Xiaomi Mix Flip: a camera-focused import-market choice
The Xiaomi Mix Flip has a 6.86-inch 120Hz LTPO AMOLED inner display and a 4-inch 120Hz cover display. Android Central lists Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, a 4,780mAh battery, and 67W wired charging. Its rear cameras are 50MP main and 50MP telephoto; it does not have an ultrawide camera.
The large, high-resolution outer display and camera quality are strengths in the guide’s assessment. Its limitations for many buyers are market access and missing features: Android Central says it is not available in the U.S., has no IP rating, and has no wireless charging. The guide dates its China launch to July 2024, making it an international or used/import-market option rather than a straightforward U.S. current-generation purchase.
Before buying an imported flip phone
- Identify the exact regional model. Ask the seller for the full model number and confirm that it is the version intended for your country.
- Check carrier compatibility. Ask your carrier whether that specific model supports its bands and required voice and data services. Do not infer compatibility from the phone’s name alone.
- Confirm warranty and repair access. Get the warranty terms in writing and establish where repairs can be performed before buying.
- Verify the current price and stock. Prices, retailer listings, and carrier availability can change; the launch-price and review-time figures above are not live quotes.
- Compare folded-screen use and support. Check the cover-screen behavior you need and the update commitment that applies to the regional variant.
Android Central’s separate Motorola Razr 2026 price and carrier overview offers additional 2026 Motorola family context, but current carrier pages are the place to verify live availability and offers.
