The phrase is a category label on comparison sites, not a strict screen-size limit. 91mobiles’ October 2026 page of that name covers 58 phones and includes displays from 6.08 to 6.4 inches. A separate NDTV Gadgets 360 under-₹10,000 roundup dated 5 October 2026 lists the Moto G35 5G, which has a 6.72-inch screen. This guide shows what those two sources report, where they fall short, and how to pick a phone near six inches yourself.
What “6 inch” actually means here
Treat “6 inch” as “roughly six inches and up”. The listed examples reach 6.4 inches, and budget phones in the same price band now commonly have larger panels. If you want a compact phone, filter by the exact diagonal (for example 6.0 to 6.4 inches) instead of relying on the page title. Screen diagonal alone also doesn’t tell you how pocketable a phone is, so check the height, width and weight on the spec sheet.

Redmi Note 8: a listing, not a recommendation
The ₹9,699 price and 6.3-inch screen fit the category, but the phone dates from 2019. A listing shows a price; it does not show that new stock exists. It also does not say whether the unit is new or refurbished, or who gives the warranty. A 2019 chipset and software base are also a poor bet for a phone you plan to keep for years. Treat it as a reference point, not a pick.
Moto G35 5G: a bigger-screen alternative
At ₹9,999 it sits right at the budget ceiling, so a small price change would take it out of range. It offers 5G, 128GB storage and a 5,000mAh battery, but its 6.72-inch panel is well beyond a literal six-inch phone. Consider it only if screen size is flexible. Confirm the exact variant, because the 4GB/128GB version is the one the roundup reports.

What these sources do not tell you
- Which units are in stock right now.
- Whether the listed prices apply to new units.
- Which seller provides the warranty.
- How good the camera, performance or software support is. The listing tables give specs and prices only, so don’t rank phones on those points from them.
How to choose a phone near six inches under ₹10,000
- Set your size cutoff first. Decide whether 6.4 inches is your maximum, then filter on the exact diagonal and the physical dimensions.
- Price the exact variant. Prices differ by RAM and storage. Compare the checkout price, including any bank offer conditions, against ₹10,000.
- Check release date and software support. Prefer a recent model over an old one that has been discounted into the range.
- Compare battery and charging. Look at capacity (4,000mAh versus 5,000mAh in the two examples) and the charger wattage in the box.
- Check network support. Confirm 5G or 4G and the bands your carrier uses.
- Confirm condition and seller. Look for “new”, not “renewed” or “refurbished”. Prefer a brand-authorised seller with a manufacturer warranty and a clear return policy.
