There is no single best TV for every sports fan: bright rooms, off-center seats, lower-resolution broadcasts, and budget all change what matters. RTINGS’ current US-oriented guide groups five picks by price tier: Samsung S95H OLED, LG C6 OLED (2026), Hisense U7SG, TCL QM7K, and Hisense U65QF. TechRadar’s September 22, 2026 update instead names the Sony Bravia 7 II as its US budget pick. Treat these as candidates from different guides, not one universal ranking, and check the exact size, regional model, availability, and price before buying.
Five tiered picks in RTINGS’ current sports-TV guide
RTINGS’ recommendations reflect its view of current availability and price, and its guide was updated on June 16 and August 6, 2026. The order below follows its price tiers rather than claiming every model is a better sports TV than the one before it.

| Price tier | TV | Why it is a candidate | Trade-off to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | Samsung S95H OLED | RTINGS’ current top sports pick; its June 16, 2026 update replaced the Samsung S95F. | Exact size and availability can vary. |
| Upper mid-range | LG C6 OLED (2026) | RTINGS’ upper mid-range selection, replacing the Samsung S90F in its June 2026 update. | Other guides may rank models differently; compare within the same tier and market. |
| Mid-range | Hisense U7SG | RTINGS replaced the TCL QM8K with this model in June 2026, citing newer performance for sports. | Check glare handling, motion, and processing of the broadcasts you watch. |
| Lower mid-range | TCL QM7K | RTINGS describes it as a less expensive alternative to the U7SG, with good contrast and adequate performance in indirect light. | It is less capable against direct reflections and has a narrow viewing angle, according to RTINGS. |
| Budget | Hisense U65QF | RTINGS’ budget choice, with brightness and upscaling identified as strengths. | RTINGS notes fast-motion artifacts and advises against placing it opposite direct light sources. |
Why another guide may name a different budget TV
Sony Bravia 7 II: TechRadar’s US budget pick
TechRadar’s September 22, 2026 update names the Sony Bravia 7 II as its US budget TV for sports, praising its motion handling and brightness. It also flags reflections and off-angle viewing as drawbacks. That is a different guide’s pick, not a sixth place in RTINGS’ tiered list; the guides use their own evaluations and market framing.

TechRadar describes the Samsung QN90F as suited to bright rooms, citing its Glare Free screen and bright picture. Its 65-inch guide lists a peak-brightness measurement of 2,086 nits for the Samsung 65QN90F; that figure is specific to that size and should not be assumed for other sizes or picture modes. TechRadar also calls the set relatively pricey and notes that Samsung TVs do not support Dolby Vision.

How to choose for your room and the sports you watch
Start with room light and reflections
For a sunlit room or lamps near the screen, prioritize measured brightness and reflection control rather than relying on a general “bright picture” claim. A TV that performs well in indirect light may still struggle when a window or lamp reflects directly on the screen. If possible, consider where the screen and seats will be before settling on a model.
Judge motion, not just the refresh-rate number
Fast camera pans, players crossing the frame, and moving score graphics reveal motion differences more clearly than a headline refresh-rate figure alone. TechRadar notes that many current TVs have 60Hz or 120Hz refresh rates and calls 120Hz the better choice. Motion clarity also depends on how the TV handles blur, judder, and the format of the content, so compare those behaviors rather than treating the refresh-rate label as a complete verdict.

Consider everyone’s seat
If viewers sit spread across a wide couch, check viewing-angle performance. RTINGS notes that a wide viewing angle helps people seated to the side avoid a substantially degraded picture; some LED candidates have narrower angles. A set that looks strong from the center seat may not deliver the same image to the ends of the room.
Account for broadcast quality and upscaling
Sports are not always delivered in 4K. A TV’s processing matters when it has to upscale a lower-resolution broadcast or stream, and RTINGS includes upscaling in its model comparisons. If most of your viewing comes from standard broadcasts rather than high-resolution streams, give that processing more weight than a feature you may rarely use.

Check the exact model, size, and local price
Model names and availability can differ by region, and performance or features may vary by diagonal. Compare the exact regional SKU and size you can buy, then check its current local price against the tier you are considering. A guide’s pick is a shortlist, not a guarantee that every size or retailer listing is available where you live.
Choose a screen size that suits your viewing distance
TechRadar cites manufacturer guidance of sitting about 1.5 to 2.5 times the screen diagonal away. Treat that as a starting point rather than a universal fit rule: room layout, resolution, personal preference, and how much of your field of view you want the screen to occupy can change the comfortable distance.

What the testing guides establish
RTINGS says it buys and tests dozens of TVs each year, using hundreds of tests, specially designed test patterns, and familiar home sources. Its recommendations also account for model availability. TechRadar’s guide discusses picture quality, motion, audio, setup, room light, and seating. These evaluations support comparing specific models and trade-offs; the reviewed guides do not establish a named statistic about the size of the sports-TV market or sports-viewer preferences.
