Dell Pro 14 Plus P1425: best for travel

Its 16:10 aspect ratio provides more vertical room than a typical 1920 × 1080, 16:9 screen, which can help when reading documents or viewing long web pages. It has two USB-C ports and no HDMI input, so the laptop must support video output over USB-C. TechRepublic reported a publication-time US price of $259.99.
For display performance, TechRepublic relays Tom’s Hardware measurements of 409 nits peak brightness and 100.6% sRGB coverage. Those are review results, not guarantees for every device or operating mode. The compact size and weight make the P1425 the most travel-focused choice among these five, provided your laptop’s USB-C video output is compatible.
Lenovo ThinkVision M14t Gen 2: best for touch and pen
This 14-inch, 2240 × 1400 IPS touchscreen runs at 60 Hz and weighs about 1.5 lb, according to TechRepublic. It has two USB-C ports and supports a stylus, making it a fit for annotating documents, signing, or directly interacting with on-screen content. TechRadar lists 300 nits stated brightness, 100% sRGB, and a 1500:1 contrast ratio, and describes it as suited to business, study, and light creative tasks. These specifications do not establish color accuracy for professional work.

Be careful not to confuse this touchscreen M14t Gen 2 with Lenovo’s non-touch ThinkVision M14.

TechRepublic relays PCWorld measurements of 328 nits brightness, 63% sRGB coverage, and 47% DCI-P3 coverage. That measured color coverage makes this model a more natural fit for documents, email, and dashboards than color-critical editing. Its lower reported price and included stand and pouch may appeal if your priority is adding a basic second screen rather than maximizing pixel density or color range.

ViewSonic VX1655-4K-OLED: best for premium image quality
The VX1655-4K-OLED combines a 15.6-inch, 3840 × 2160 OLED panel with a 60 Hz refresh rate. TechRepublic lists a weight of about 1.5 lb, two USB-C ports, and mini-HDMI. It relays PCWorld measurements of 457 nits SDR brightness, full sRGB and DCI-P3 coverage, and 94% AdobeRGB. TechRadar separately highlights 99% DCI-P3 coverage. These are review figures from different publications, not a guarantee for every unit or mode. TechRepublic reported a publication-time US price of $499.99.

At 60 Hz, it is also less suited to fast gaming than a high-refresh monitor. High resolution and broad gamut coverage alone do not establish calibration or color accuracy for a professional workflow.
Check laptop compatibility before buying
A USB-C connector does not automatically carry video. Your laptop’s specific port must support DisplayPort Alt Mode or another compatible video path, and it must be able to provide sufficient power if you expect the monitor to run from the laptop alone. The Dell P1425 and Lenovo M14t Gen 2 are especially dependent on USB-C video because the cited comparison lists no HDMI input for either model.

- Look up the laptop’s exact model and verify video output support for the USB-C port you plan to use.
- Check whether that port can supply enough power for the monitor, or whether the display needs a separate power source.
- If relying on HDMI, confirm that both devices have compatible ports and that the cable supports the resolution and refresh rate you want.
- For monitors with more than one video input, verify the maximum resolution and refresh rate for each input separately.
When the laptop’s USB-C port does not support video, a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter will not create a video signal by itself. Confirm the complete laptop, adapter or cable, and monitor connection path before ordering accessories.

A 15.6- or 16.1-inch display gives you more physical screen area, while a 14-inch model can make a smaller travel kit. Weight is only one part of portability: include the stand or cover, cable, and any separate charger when comparing what you will carry.

- 1080p IPS: A practical resolution for documents, email, and reference windows on a compact screen. The MSI is the 1080p option in this list.
- QHD IPS: The Arzopa’s 2560 × 1440 resolution provides more detail and workspace than 1080p at a similar portable size.
- WUXGA and 16:10: The Dell’s 1920 × 1200 resolution gives it a taller workspace than a 16:9 1080p display; the Lenovo also uses a 16:10 shape at a higher 2240 × 1400 resolution.
- 4K OLED: The ViewSonic prioritizes fine detail and OLED image characteristics. It costs more in the publication-time comparison and has a glossy finish.
For color-sensitive work, look for measured color coverage and accuracy information, not resolution alone. Coverage figures describe how much of a color space a display can show; they do not, by themselves, prove that colors are accurate or consistent.

Refresh rate, touch, brightness, and finish
Refresh rate matters most when you care about smooth motion, such as fast-paced games. The Arzopa offers up to 180 Hz over USB-C, though its mini-HDMI limit is 144 Hz in TechRepublic’s comparison. The other four picks are listed at 60 Hz. Touch and pen support serve a different purpose: the Lenovo is the option here for direct interaction and stylus-based annotation.
Brightness measurements can help when comparing screens, but no model should be assumed to be suitable for outdoor use on these figures alone. Room lighting and reflections matter too: the ViewSonic’s glossy surface can catch reflections, which may be distracting in bright or changing environments. Check the finish and review measurements alongside the conditions where you will actually work.
Other options if the five picks do not fit
ASUS’s March 1, 2026 portable-monitor guide identifies alternatives for specific needs: the ZenScreen MB169CK for an affordable 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display with two USB-C ports and a 360-degree kickstand; the ZenScreen Touch MB16AMTR for battery-powered touch use; the MB16NCG for gaming-oriented refresh; and the MQ16AHE for an OLED preference. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent comparative test results.
ASUS says the MB16AMTR has a 7800 mAh built-in battery and can provide up to four hours of independent use. Treat that as a manufacturer runtime claim; actual battery life can vary with conditions. ASUS also says its portable screens can typically draw power from a laptop over USB-C, while connections to a smartphone, tablet, console, or camera need a separate power source.
