Ori and the Will of the Wisps — $2.99 reported
GamesRadar describes this as a 2D platforming adventure with puzzles in the world of Niwen, and praises its art and gameplay while noting a weaker final level. Its review called it a “gorgeous, tear-jerking platformer.” That combination makes it the pick here for players looking for an atmospheric platforming adventure, with the caveat that the cited review is not uniformly positive about the ending. GamesRadar’s sale roundup and review.
TOEM — $1.99 reported
For a gentler, low-pressure option, GamesRadar describes TOEM as a short, hand-drawn adventure built around photography, exploration and puzzle-solving. You unlock picture-taking features as you go; the roundup also praises its characters and landscapes. GamesRadar’s sale roundup.

Watch Dogs 2 — $2.49 reported
Gaming On Steam identifies Watch Dogs 2 as an open-world game and a strong low-cost pick. The key practical caveat for handheld players is its Steam Deck label: the roundup says Valve lists it as Unsupported. The available description does not establish more about its gameplay, so check the store page and other detail sources if you need specifics before buying. Gaming On Steam’s roundup.
Mad Max — $2.99 reported
Gaming On Steam recommends Mad Max as a budget pick and reports that it runs well on Steam Deck, with Verified status. That makes it the clearest choice in this shortlist if Steam Deck compatibility is a priority. Gaming On Steam’s roundup.

How to choose—and confirm the price
- Pick by mood: TOEM is the gentlest photography-and-puzzle option; Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the platforming choice; Chorus is the space-combat pick.
- Check Deck compatibility if you play handheld: the cited roundup labels Mad Max Verified and Watch Dogs 2 Unsupported. It does not establish a status for the other three games.
- Verify the listing in your region: open each game’s Steam store page and confirm its current price and currency. The figures here are reported in US dollars and may not match your local price or remain available after the sale.
The sale catalog is much larger than any short list: PC Gamer reports that SteamDB showed 44,048 games priced below $5 in 2026. That figure is sale context, not a count of games under $3. If none of these five suits you, filtering Steam’s catalog by genre, features, release date, user rating and review count can make the wider sale easier to navigate. PC Gamer’s Steam sale coverage.
