Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor US shoppers with a pre-tax budget of US$50, the Logitech G305, Razer Cobra, and SteelSeries Rival 3 are useful starting points, with the Logitech G203 and HyperX Pulsefire Core as additional candidates only when their current local listings fit the budget. This is a shortlist, not a hands-on or test-derived ranking: prices and stock change, and the available product details do not establish that all five are under $50 today.

The models below cover wireless and wired choices, different weights, and varied levels of product-detail support. Verify the exact model, current US price, stock, and shipping before buying; a deal roundup is only a time-specific price signal.

How to choose between wired and wireless
Choose wireless if a cable is the bigger annoyance
The G305 is the wireless option in this shortlist. Logitech advertises up to 250 hours of battery life, and its support specifications list a weight of 99 g with one AA battery. “Up to” is the manufacturer’s stated maximum, not a guarantee of the runtime every user will get; battery life can depend on use and settings.
Choose wired if you prefer a direct cable connection
The Cobra and Rival 3 are wired models. A cable removes the need to manage a mouse battery, but whether its presence bothers you is a matter of desk setup and preference. The supplied specifications do not establish a performance advantage for wired over wireless.

- Wireless does not have to mean heavy, G305 lightweight mouse provides high maneuverability coming in at only 3.4 oz thanks to efficient lightweight mechanical design and ultra-efficient battery usage
- The durable, compact design with built-in nano receiver storage makes G305 not just a great portable desktop mouse, but also a great laptop travel companion, use with a gaming laptop and play anywhere
Compare fit and specifications, not just DPI
Weight and shape affect how a mouse feels in hand. The Cobra’s approximately 58 g figure excludes cable and dongle, while the G305’s 99 g figure includes its AA battery, so those numbers are not measured on an identical basis. SteelSeries provides dimensions and grip guidance for the Rival 3; use those details to assess fit rather than assuming one shape suits everyone.
DPI and CPI describe sensitivity settings, but a higher maximum alone does not establish better real-world performance. Razer lists the Cobra at 8,500 DPI, while SteelSeries specifies a 200–8,500 CPI range for the Rival 3. Consider whether the available settings, shape, weight, and buttons suit your use instead of picking by the largest number.
Rank #2
- HERO Gaming Sensor: Next generation HERO mouse sensor delivers precision tracking up to 25600 DPI with zero smoothing, filtering or acceleration
- 11 programmable buttons and dual mode hyper-fast scroll wheel: The Logitech wired gaming mouse gives you fully customizable control over your gameplay
- Adjustable weights: Match your playing style. Arrange up to five 3.6 g weights for a personalized weight and balance configuration
- LIGHTSYNC technology: Logitech G LIGHTSYNC technology provides fully customizable RGB lighting that can also synchronize with your gaming (requires Logitech Gaming Software)
- Mechanical Switch Button Tensioning: A metal spring tensioning system and metal pivot hinges are built into left and right computer gaming mouse buttons for a crisp, clean click feel with rapid click feedback
Button count can also matter if you want extra programmable controls: Logitech lists six programmable buttons for the G305, and Razer lists six for the Cobra. The cited details do not provide a matching button-count specification for every model in this shortlist, so do not treat the table as a complete feature-by-feature ranking.
Check whether a mouse is really under $50 in the US
“Under $50” is not a stable product attribute. Retailer, promotion, availability, shipping, tax, and the date of the check can change the total. The cited deal reporting supports the possibility of finding eligible mice below US$50, but it does not prove that all five models are currently available at that price.
Rank #3
- Next-gen 12,000 DPI HERO optical sensor delivers unrivaled gaming performance, accuracy and power efficiency
- Advanced LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming mouse for super-fast 1 ms response time and faster than wired performance
- Ultra-long battery life gives you up to 250 hours of continuous gaming on a single AA battery
- Lightweight mechanical design and classic shape for maximum maneuverability, durability and comfort
- Compact, portable design with convenient built-in storage for included USB wireless receiver
- Open the exact model’s product listing at a retailer serving the US, and confirm the model name rather than relying on a broad category page.
- Check the current item price and whether the item is in stock; do not treat a past deal roundup as a live offer.
- Decide whether your US$50 limit applies to the item price before tax or to the delivered total, then account for shipping and any applicable tax.
- If the listing exceeds your limit, compare another seller or wait for a promotion rather than assuming the mouse is always below budget.
What this shortlist does—and does not—establish
It provides several models to investigate and verified specifications for three of them, alongside two price-sensitive candidates supported by secondary deal or roundup coverage. It does not establish a universal top-five order, current pricing across retailers, or a hands-on performance verdict. For a decision, first narrow by wired versus wireless and fit, then check the live US listing against your actual budget.
