The best 18V leaf blower depends first on the battery platform you already own and then on the kind of cleanup you need. For routine yard debris, Milwaukee’s M18 FUEL 3017-20 and Makita’s XBU03Z publish the highest airflow-volume figures in this group. The lighter Milwaukee 3044-20 is another M18 option; RYOBI’s PCLLB01B is aimed at light cleanup, while Bosch’s GBL18V-71N is better suited to focused jobs than clearing a large area.
These are manufacturer specifications and estimates, not results from a shared independent comparison. Maximum CFM, MPH, force, weight and runtime may be measured or reported under different conditions, so treat the figures as model-specific guidance rather than a direct performance ranking.

Milwaukee also publishes a 54 dB(A) rating and describes the blower as “Up To 40% Quieter than the competition.” Both the sound rating and comparison are Milwaukee’s claims; without a shared comparison method, the percentage should not be treated as a general head-to-head result. Milwaukee identifies optional compatible nozzle and gutter attachments, sold separately, for buyers who need those accessories.

Best higher-volume Makita LXT choice: XBU03Z
Makita’s brushless XBU03Z is listed at 459 CFM and 116 MPH and uses one 18V LXT battery. Its variable-speed trigger and cruise-control lever let the user adjust airflow and hold a preferred setting. Makita publishes 60 dB(A), measured per ANSI B175.2, and gives two distinct weights: 4.6 lb without a battery and 6 lb with one.
Makita lists the XBU03Z as tool-only, so check whether a seller’s package adds a battery or charger rather than assuming it does. Its LXT battery platform is separate from Milwaukee M18, RYOBI ONE+ and Bosch 18V/AMPShare systems.

- 3 air volume settings: Low, Medium, High
- Vacuum function - can be used as a vacuum with a dust bag. Increased air volume.
- Compact and lightweight design and Ergonomic soft grip
- Equipped with Battery protection circuit: designed to protect the battery from damages due to overdischarge, high temperature or overload current.
Best lighter M18 option: Milwaukee M18 Brushless 3044-20
The 3044-20 is specified at 450 CFM, 120 MPH and 11 N. Milwaukee lists it at 4.4 lb tool-only and equips it with variable speed and a full-throttle lock-on. It is a useful fit for M18 owners who want a lighter listed tool weight than the FUEL model’s published comparison allows—but note that the FUEL model’s weight is not stated in the cited details, so these figures do not establish which is lighter overall with battery.
Milwaukee estimates about 12 minutes of runtime at full throttle with a 6.0Ah battery and about 24 minutes with a 12.0Ah battery. Those are maker estimates tied to those battery capacities and full-throttle use, not equivalent runtime tests against the other models. Milwaukee says all M18 batteries are compatible and recommends 6.0Ah or larger for best performance. The 3044-20 is sold as a bare tool and does not accept Milwaukee’s existing blower attachments.
Milwaukee M18 Brushless Blower 3044-20
Best for light dry-leaf cleanup: RYOBI PCLLB01B
RYOBI lists 350 CFM and 100 MPH for the PCLLB01B and expressly positions it for light applications, hard surfaces and dry leaves. That makes it a more natural match for patios, driveways and modest cleanup than for buyers seeking the highest published airflow in this list. RYOBI reports 70 minutes with an 18V ONE+ 4Ah battery; the figure is tied to that battery, and the page does not make it a common-condition comparison with the other runtime estimates here.

- Compatible with RYOBI 18V ONE+ batteries (Tool Only – battery & charger not included)
- 500CFM / 150MPH max output for powerful clearing
- 5 Speed Modes for light dusting to heavy debris
- Ergonomic handle + hanging hook for easy storage & comfort
- Lightweight cordless design – ideal for yards, driveways, garages
RYOBI says any 18V ONE+ battery works with any 18V ONE+ product. The product page lists tool-only and kit purchase choices, so verify the exact listing’s battery and charger contents before ordering.

Best for focused cleanup: Bosch GBL18V-71N
Bosch lists the GBL18V-71N at 71 CFM and 167 MPH. Those numbers describe different things: CFM is the stated volume of moving air, while MPH is air velocity. A high MPH number alone does not mean the tool moves a large volume of leaves; the Bosch’s low CFM makes it a compact, focused blower rather than a full-yard leaf-clearing pick.
The blower has a two-speed switch and four listed nozzle types: standard, extension, small-diameter and debris-collection. Bosch estimates eight minutes per amp-hour on low and 3.5 minutes per amp-hour on high; these are per-Ah estimates by speed, not a single runtime promise for every battery. Bosch lists the tool at 2.4 lb, but its technical data does not clearly qualify whether that includes a battery, so do not compare that number directly with another model’s tool-only or battery-included weight without checking the manual.

Bosch describes AMPShare compatibility for supported 18V tools and products. That does not make the battery interchangeable with every product labeled 18V.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choose by battery platform and cleanup task
Start with the batteries you own
Makita LXT, Bosch 18V/AMPShare, Milwaukee M18 and RYOBI ONE+ are distinct battery ecosystems. A nominal 18V label does not make packs interchangeable. If you are already invested in one system, choosing a compatible tool can avoid buying another battery and charger; if you are starting fresh, compare the tool package and battery needs as a system.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesMatch the blower to the job
- Routine yard debris: Consider the Milwaukee 3017-20 or Makita XBU03Z based on platform fit and their comparatively high published CFM figures.
- Light hard-surface and dry-leaf cleanup: RYOBI explicitly identifies this as the PCLLB01B’s intended use.
- Small, directed cleanup: Bosch’s nozzle selection and low stated airflow suit more focused work than broad leaf clearing.
Manufacturer pages do not establish a maximum yard size or a shared measure of leaf-load capacity, so these use cases are descriptions of intended fit, not a guarantee for a particular property.

Read CFM and MPH together
CFM describes stated air volume; MPH describes stated air speed. One number cannot stand in for the other, and the Bosch model shows why: its 167 MPH figure is paired with just 71 CFM. Consider both specifications along with the task rather than choosing by the largest velocity number alone.
Check the exact package and runtime claim
A tool-only or bare-tool listing generally means the battery and charger are not included, but product pages and seller bundles can vary. Makita labels the XBU03Z tool-only and Milwaukee says the 3044-20 is bare tool; RYOBI offers both tool-only and kit options. Confirm the contents on the listing you plan to buy.
Runtime figures also need their conditions attached: the Milwaukee estimate is at full throttle with named battery sizes, Bosch provides time per Ah for each speed, and RYOBI’s figure specifies a 4Ah battery. They cannot be treated as results from a single comparative test.
