Check the whole setup, not just the camera price
A camera advertised below $500 may not mean a complete, ready-to-shoot setup costs less than $500. Confirm what the package includes, whether any lens is included, and whether you need separate mounting or audio accessories. Digital Camera World’s July 2, 2026 U.S. guide illustrates the distinction with the Canon R100: it reports a kit bundle at $549, even though the body alone is below $500. A body-only price does not establish the cost of a usable lens-and-camera setup.

How to choose between 4K specs
“4K” describes resolution, not how smoothly a camera records movement. The cited specifications range from 4K/30p on the V10 and WG-8 to 4K/60 fps HDR on the Action 4 and 4K/120 fps on the HERO12. If fast motion or slow-motion editing is central to your videos, compare frame rates at the resolution you will actually use. Stabilization is another separate consideration: DJI lists electronic stabilization on its action cameras, while a gimbal-based pocket camera is a different approach.
