Three of the four minivans that SlashGear’s 2026 comparison names as alternatives to the Chrysler Pacifica beat the Pacifica in three of the four rating sources it uses. The Honda Odyssey is the only one the reporting places ahead of the Pacifica in all four. The fourth model, the Kia Carnival Hybrid, has the least complete coverage. No single minivan wins everywhere, and the scores come from four different publishers, so they should not be read as one combined rating.
How the comparison defines “better”
The headline is narrower than it sounds. SlashGear’s comparison draws on four sources: Consumer Reports, J.D. Power, Car and Driver, and U.S. News. A vehicle qualified for its list if it beat the 2026 Chrysler Pacifica in at least two of those four. It did not have to win every source. The four publishers use different scales (some rank, some score out of 10, some score out of 100), so the figures can be compared only within the same publisher’s results.

SlashGear used the 2026 Pacifica as its baseline because 2027 reviews of the competing minivans were not uniformly available when it prepared the piece. Scores and trim details are model-year specific, so any 2027 update can change the picture.

The table reproduces the figures as SlashGear reported them. Consumer Reports results appear there as placements relative to the Pacifica rather than numeric scores, because that is how the reporting gave them. “Not stated” means the reporting did not give that value.

The four alternatives, model by model
Honda Odyssey
The Odyssey is the only one of the four that the reporting places ahead of the Pacifica in every source it cites. Its J.D. Power and Car and Driver margins are the most consistent of the group, and U.S. News also ranks it above the Pacifica, though this report does not give the score. For a family whose priority is the strongest overall showing across publishers, this is the cleanest case in the comparison.

Kia Carnival
The Carnival leads the Pacifica in Consumer Reports, J.D. Power, and Car and Driver, but U.S. News scores the Pacifica slightly higher. The gap is narrowest in U.S. News, which is the publisher where the Pacifica keeps its edge. It is a good example of how rankings diverge by source: the Carnival meets the comparison’s two-of-four threshold, but it does not win in every outlet.

Toyota Sienna
The Sienna also beats the Pacifica in three of four sources. Its largest lead is in Car and Driver, where it scores 9.5/10, while U.S. News again favors the Pacifica, by a margin of two-tenths of a point. The reporting also notes that the Sienna is available with all-wheel drive, which matters for buyers in snowy regions (see the drivetrain section below).

Kia Carnival Hybrid
The hybrid variant gets the strongest Consumer Reports result in the shortlist, with the highest overall score in its minivan group. The reporting does not supply a complete set of scores from the other three publishers, so the hybrid’s position against the Pacifica across sources cannot be confirmed from this comparison. Treat it as the most promising of the four but the least verified. If the hybrid powertrain is the reason you are shopping, check its fuel economy and rating details directly.
Edmunds’ 7.8/10 rating: a fuel-economy score
Edmunds’ 2026 minivan coverage gives both the Toyota Sienna and the Kia Carnival Hybrid a 7.8/10. Edmunds says its ratings give substantial weight to fuel economy, so this number reflects how efficient each minivan is as much as overall driving quality. A family that drives a lot of miles may find it the most relevant score here; a buyer who cares most about cabin space or driving feel may weigh it less. The comparison does not provide an Edmunds score for the Pacifica, so this rating cannot be used to rank the two directly.

Drivetrain availability
Consumer Reports lists the 2026 Pacifica, Odyssey, Carnival, and Sienna among its minivan reviews, and notes that the Pacifica and Sienna are available with all-wheel drive. The reporting does not establish AWD availability for the Odyssey or Carnival. Drivetrain options vary by trim, so confirm the exact configuration against the manufacturer’s 2026 specifications for the trim you are considering.
Safety: what the ratings do not settle
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates crashworthiness and crash avoidance or mitigation, and those results are specific to a model year and sometimes to a trim. The comparison does not establish a relative safety ranking among the Pacifica, Odyssey, Carnival, Sienna, or Carnival Hybrid, so a higher overall review score says nothing about crash protection. Pull the IIHS result for the exact model year and trim before deciding.

How to check these numbers yourself
- Confirm the model year on the manufacturer’s site. Scores here apply to 2026 models, and 2027 reviews may have changed the rankings.
- Open each publisher’s own 2026 minivan page and record its score or placement with the date you checked it. Do not mix publishers in one calculation.
- For each model, compare only against the Pacifica’s score from the same publisher and the same model year.
- Check the trim you plan to buy for drivetrain (AWD or front-wheel drive) and powertrain (including the hybrid version) using the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Look up the IIHS crashworthiness and crash avoidance or mitigation results for that exact model year and trim.
- If predicted reliability or owner satisfaction matters to you, check whether each publisher publishes those measures for that model, since this comparison does not report them.
What the evidence does not establish
- A universal winner. The four vehicles beat the Pacifica in different combinations of sources, and no shared score exists across publishers.
- A complete set of scores for the Kia Carnival Hybrid across all four publishers.
- Trim-level prices, which vary by configuration and are not covered here.
- Reliability and owner satisfaction comparisons among the four models.
- A safety ranking among these vehicles.
