You can share a 360 photo on Instagram, but viewers cannot interactively drag or tilt the post to look around. Instagram does not currently provide interactive 360-photo viewing, according to an Insta360 Support reply from July 2026. For Instagram, make a flat reframe, a sequence of different viewpoints, or a video treatment; for interactive viewing, use a destination with a documented 360-photo workflow.
What happens when you post a 360 photo on Instagram?
Instagram presents the image as a regular, flat post rather than an interactive panorama. A 360 file may look stretched when opened in a viewer that does not interpret it as panoramic media. Keeping panorama metadata in the file does not make Instagram display an interactive 360 viewer.

Start with the stitched panorama you already have and keep an untouched copy of the original. Choose the presentation based on what you want viewers to notice:

- One flat image: Reframe the panorama around its strongest direction, making sure the subject is clear on a phone screen.
- A swipeable sequence: Export several flat views from different directions as separate slides. They are crops or reframes, not interactive views.
- A motion treatment: Create a short pan or orbit effect from the image. This presents the panorama as video, not as an interactive 360 photo.
Preview the finished post in Instagram. Check that the chosen view is legible and that the sequence or motion effect communicates the scene as intended; do not imply that viewers can look around the image.
Where can you share a 360 photo interactively?
Use a destination whose current app and sharing flow explicitly support 360 photos, and check the preview before publishing. Insta360 documents a Facebook sharing workflow, but its operating-system support differs:

These platform details come from Insta360 documentation, not a guarantee that every account, app version, or region has the same experience. Preserve the original file so you can use it with a compatible viewer later.

No. An existing stitched panorama can be reframed for Instagram without new capture equipment. Insta360’s sharing guide lists the Insta360 X5 360 camera among applicable models, but owning a camera does not enable interactive 360-photo viewing on Instagram.

How to choose the right format
- Choose a flat reframe if the goal is a straightforward Instagram post focused on one view.
- Choose multiple slides if the scene has several points of interest worth showing separately.
- Choose a motion treatment if movement helps convey the space, while labeling it as a video presentation.
- Choose a supported interactive destination if viewers must be able to explore the panorama themselves.
Insta360 notes that the final display of 360 media depends on whether the platform supports panoramic display. Its app guide describes choosing Flat or 360 export types for supported destinations; exporting as 360 alone does not add support on a destination that lacks it.
