To see whether a palette works on buttons, navbars, alerts, cards, and backgrounds—not just as isolated swatches—try PaletteDesk or Realtime Colors. Both have usable first-party feature descriptions; Coolors’ Palette Visualizer is another option, but its current access and features could not be confirmed. These previews help you judge color roles and hierarchy, but they do not replace testing your actual interface, content, component states, and accessibility requirements.

PaletteDesk: explore several directions from one color
PaletteDesk is useful when you have a starting color but have not settled on its role. Enter one color and the tool produces four separate palettes; the seed may serve as an accent, background, or text color. Its named previews include developer dashboards, payments dashboards, and a blog platform, alongside other layout styles.
That role variation can help you see whether a color that looks attractive as a swatch also works as a surface or text color. PaletteDesk also lists live color adjustment, dark mode, SVG background patterns, URL-based sharing, and a WCAG contrast checker. Its export options include Tailwind, Figma, and CSS variables.
The provider labels the basic experience free, without sign-up or generation limits, while also advertising paid full access. Check the current product page if a feature or plan boundary matters to your project: PaletteDesk.
Realtime Colors: adjust semantic roles in a website preview
Realtime Colors gives separate controls to text, background, primary, secondary, and accent colors. Its suggested workflow starts with text and background neutrals, then adds primary and secondary colors, using the accent for highlights and other components. A live website preview makes it possible to inspect how those roles work together across headings, forms, navigation, and other page elements.

How to use a preview without mistaking it for a finished design
- Assign roles before judging colors. Decide which colors are text, background, primary, secondary, and accent. A preview is more informative when you compare like roles instead of treating every swatch as interchangeable.
- Look across multiple components. Check navigation, buttons, cards, forms, alerts, and headings. A color that provides useful emphasis on a button may be too strong as a large background.
- Check contrast for actual pairings. Test the foreground and background combinations your interface uses, including component states. A tool’s contrast indicator is guidance, not a substitute for validating the real implementation.
- Test the palette in your product. Layout previews cannot reproduce your exact content, component styling, or every interaction state. Apply the chosen colors in the actual interface before treating the palette as settled.
- Export only after the roles are stable. Use the available code or design-file formats to carry the palette into implementation, then confirm that exported values match the colors you approved.
Other useful palette tools—and what they do not establish
Figma’s official generator can create, edit, lock, reorder, and share palettes, and supports HEX, RGB, HSL, and HSB. Its page points users to a separate contrast checker. It is useful for palette work, but the available description does not establish it as a real-UI-component visualizer. Figma palette generator
UI Color Palette is another adjacent option for building interface color systems. Its documentation describes a web app and plugins for Figma, Penpot, Sketch, and Framer, along with contrast management, style and variable synchronization, and code generation. The available descriptions do not establish its pricing or make it a verified substitute for the three tools above. UI Color Palette documentation
