How to choose among the three recommendations
The useful distinction is what you want to do yourself. Baristina automates the basic grind, tamp and extraction workflow; Aromis is aimed at people who want a broad menu at the touch of a button; Touch Impress guides a more hands-on process and exposes settings such as grind size and brew temperature.

These comparisons reflect Ellis’s descriptions in her feature, rather than independently checked manufacturer specifications. The feature calls Baristina the affordable pick and Aromis expensive relative to the other two, but supplies no current price worth treating as a live quote.
Philips Baristina: a simpler move to whole beans
Baristina is the least involved choice in the lineup: add beans and water, insert the filter handle and start the machine. It grinds, tamps and extracts, while its open construction is described as easier to clean. That straightforward workflow makes it the natural fit for someone who wants freshly ground coffee without taking on many manual espresso steps.

The original Baristina’s missing steam wand is a decisive limitation if you regularly make lattes or cappuccinos. Ellis notes a standalone-frother bundle and a Baristina Latte variant with an integrated steam wand; confirm which version a retailer is selling rather than assuming those features come with the base machine.
Philips Café Aromis 8000 Series: variety at the touch of a button
Aromis is the fully automatic option for people who value a wide selection of drinks and customization over hands-on preparation. Ellis describes a touchscreen, HomeID app profiles, and separate carafes for hot and cold milk. She also distinguishes its cold drinks from simply pouring hot espresso over ice: the machine is described as extracting with cold water from the tank.

The trade-off in Ellis’s comparison is price: Aromis is the expensive pick relative to the other two. Since her feature does not establish a current retail price, check a live listing before comparing deals or deciding whether its extra automation and menu justify the cost.

Ellis also identifies genuine cold extraction as a feature. The machine is branded Sage in the UK and Breville elsewhere, so search for the local brand and confirm the listing is specifically the Barista Touch Impress with Cold Extraction.
