3 AI Stocks to Watch in October 2026—and What Could Move Them

NVIDIA, Microsoft and Alphabet are three AI-related stocks to watch in October 2026, but the available evidence is strongest for NVIDIA and Microsoft. Their recent results show sharply different ways to benefit from AI: NVIDIA sells the computing infrastructure, while Microsoft combines cloud services with software adoption. Alphabet belongs on the watch list, but comparable current company-specific evidence is not available here. These are candidates to monitor, not a prediction that their shares will rise or a recommendation to buy.

Why AI stocks could influence the market in October

“AI stocks” do not move as a single group. Morningstar reported that its Global Next Generation Artificial Intelligence Index rose 6% in the third quarter of 2026, following a 42% gain in the second quarter. Its October 2 review described a rotation in Q3: hyperscalers and software advanced while memory, chip and industrial names stalled. That divergence makes company results and business exposure more useful to watch than an assumption that every AI-linked share will follow the same trend. Morningstar’s Q3 AI-stock review provides market context, not a forecast for October.

1. NVIDIA: watch whether demand meets a high bar

NVIDIA’s latest cited results show the scale of its data-center business and set a demanding near-term benchmark. In its August 26, 2026 release for fiscal Q2 2027, the quarter ended July 26, NVIDIA reported revenue of $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year, including Data Center revenue of $89.0 billion, up 117%. Those are realized company-reported results, not forward estimates. NVIDIA’s fiscal Q2 2027 results also included guidance for fiscal Q3 revenue of $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%; the company said the outlook assumed no Data Center compute revenue from China.

What to track

  • Whether subsequent results meet the company’s Q3 revenue guidance.
  • Whether customer demand and deployments convert into sustained revenue, and whether spending or supply constraints affect delivery.
  • How competition, export restrictions and customer concentration affect the outlook. The cited release’s explicit China assumption is one concrete policy-related factor, but it does not quantify the broader risks.

CEO Jensen Huang said in the August 26 release, “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue.” This is Huang’s characterization of the opportunity, not independent evidence that AI is profitable across the industry.

2. Microsoft: watch cloud growth and paid-seat adoption

Microsoft’s results show a broad cloud business growing alongside a reported Copilot adoption measure. For fiscal Q4 2026, Microsoft reported revenue of $90.0 billion, up 18% year over year. Microsoft Cloud revenue was $59.3 billion, up 27%, while Azure and other cloud services revenue increased 43%. Management also said Azure annual revenue surpassed $100 billion for the first time and Microsoft 365 Copilot passed 30 million paid seats. These are company-reported figures from the July 29, 2026 release, not a breakdown of AI-generated revenue or profit. Microsoft’s fiscal Q4 2026 results provide the company’s full context.

How to interpret the adoption signal

Paid seats indicate reported product adoption, but they do not establish how much incremental profit Copilot generates. Microsoft also sells extensive software and cloud services, so its total revenue and cloud growth should not be treated as AI revenue alone. CEO Satya Nadella said the company was “advancing the frontier on the cost-to-outcome curve,” and pointed to Azure’s revenue milestone and Copilot’s paid-seat count. That is management’s account of its strategy and adoption, not an independently measured return on AI investment.

3. Alphabet: a watch-list name with less comparable evidence here

Alphabet appears alongside NVIDIA and Microsoft in an October 2026 watch-list article surfaced by Yahoo Finance UK. The cited page was unavailable for full review, so it supports only the fact that these names were presented as candidates—not an analysis of why Alphabet will outperform. The Yahoo Finance UK article does not provide a basis here for an Alphabet-specific current revenue figure, AI adoption measure, valuation, management statement or risk assessment. Readers should consult Alphabet’s latest official results before comparing its business evidence with NVIDIA’s or Microsoft’s.

How to compare the three before drawing a conclusion

The evidence points to different business roles, not three interchangeable AI bets. NVIDIA’s cited figures center on Data Center results and forward revenue guidance. Microsoft’s combine cloud growth with a company-reported paid-seat adoption metric, while its broad operations make it difficult to attribute total revenue to AI. For Alphabet, this article’s cited material identifies it as a watch-list candidate but does not establish comparable company-specific results.

  • Separate results from expectations: NVIDIA’s Q2 numbers and Microsoft’s Q4 numbers are reported results; NVIDIA’s Q3 figure is guidance.
  • Ask what each metric measures: revenue growth, cloud growth and paid seats describe different things and cannot be compared as if they were the same measure of AI demand.
  • Check risks and execution: monitor whether demand converts into delivered products and durable business results, as well as supply, competition and policy constraints.
  • Use same-date valuation data: price and valuation comparisons need to be collected for the same date and on a consistent basis. The cited sources do not establish a comparable valuation set, so they cannot support a ranking of which stock is cheapest.

For October, the useful question is not whether AI shares will move together, but whether each company’s results and execution support the expectations reflected in its share price. The cited Q3 market rotation is a reminder that even companies linked to the same theme can diverge.
