Building a SaaS product requires more than a generic admin template. The key decision is whether you need interface screens and reusable components, or a fuller starter that also supplies application foundations such as authentication, billing, and database integration. A polished dashboard does not, by itself, make a product production-ready.
Colorlib’s July 31, 2026 roundup names 26 products across both categories. Its picks are the publisher’s editorial assessments, not an independent hands-on test or a guarantee of current features. Use the list to build a shortlist, then verify each product’s live documentation, demo, framework versions, license, and price.

UI template or full-stack boilerplate: which do you need?
A UI-focused template mainly helps you build the product’s screens and reusable interface components. A full-stack boilerplate aims to provide more of the application foundation, potentially including authentication, billing, database integration, and deployment-related setup. The actual scope varies by product, so confirm what is included rather than inferring it from the word “SaaS.”

Treat each as a capability to verify in the current product documentation and demo, not as a feature implied by the dashboard design.

How to choose a template or boilerplate
1. Set the scope before comparing designs
Write down which capabilities your product needs on day one and which you will build separately. Check explicitly for authentication, billing, user management, multi-tenancy, and subscription analytics where relevant. A dashboard can supply screens without supplying the services, data model, or business logic those screens depend on.

2. Match the framework and UI stack to your app
Choose a stack your team can maintain and that fits the existing application. Check the product’s current framework and dependency versions, component system, and styling approach in its own documentation. A name in a 2026 roundup does not establish that its code remains compatible with your current project.

3. Read the license for your specific use
Confirm whether the license permits use in a paid SaaS, client work, and your intended distribution model. Check seat limits and whether the license is for an individual developer, team, or organization. Terms differ between vendors: Shadcn Dashboard says its free assets may be used in commercial projects and paid client work, while its separate commercial kit is a paid offering. Do not apply those terms to another product.
4. Compare total price, updates, and support
Compare the current price alongside update policy, support scope, renewal conditions, and seat restrictions. Pricing can change, so verify it on the seller’s current page or at checkout. Shadcn Dashboard’s pricing page advertised its Ultimate Kit at $129 one-time when accessed in 2026; treat that as a time-sensitive vendor listing, not a market-wide price or a promise that the figure remains current.
5. Inspect the code and estimate integration work
Review the live demo and source repository where available. Consider how much effort it will take to adapt the design, connect real product data, and keep dependencies maintained. The amount of UI included is not a measure of how much backend integration your product still needs.
A free repository-based baseline: Next.js SaaS Starter
Vercel’s official Next.js SaaS Starter repository describes a stack using Next.js, Postgres, Stripe, and shadcn/ui, with authentication, Stripe integration, and a dashboard for logged-in users. It is a useful free code-based baseline for developers prepared to build on and maintain a repository. It should not be mistaken for a finished hosted product.
