Gears of War: E-Day launched worldwide on October 6, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time (15:00 UTC), according to The Coalition. Its early access began worldwide on October 1 at the same time for Premium Edition players and Game Pass subscribers with the Premium Upgrade. Xbox’s September 17 update said Premium Edition players could start up to five days early; Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members could play on October 6.

The Coalition lists Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Steam as platforms. Cloud gaming is a separate option through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW; it is not a native platform listing. Xbox said the game was available day one with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Check the service and store listing for current regional access and terms. What to know about Gears of War: E-Day
Story and modes
E-Day is an origin story set fourteen years before the original Gears of War. It follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as the Locust emerge and the Locust War begins. Xbox Wire describes the campaign as playable solo, in two-player split-screen or with up to four players online. The game also includes Horde Siege PvE and Versus PvP; Xbox’s showcase feature specifies Horde Siege for 12 players and Versus as 4v4. These are modes described by Xbox, not independent player-count measurements.

Standard and Collector’s Edition
The Collector’s Edition includes an Xbox Series X Premium Edition game disc, a 15-inch Marcus-and-Dom statue, a SteelBook, replica COG tags, a replica photograph and a Feral Wretch art print. It also includes Premium Edition digital bonuses. Xbox said it launched October 1 with early access, and noted that quantities are limited and availability varies by region. Xbox’s October 1 launch post also named an E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller, an 8BitDo controller dock with an October 9 target launch, and The Art and Making of Gears of War: E-Day from Insight Editions, which Xbox described as the official companion book.
