Artist portfolio sites work best when the artwork is the focus, visitors can find related work easily, and the site makes the next step clear. The 21 names below are examples selected by published roundups—not a verified ranking of the world’s best portfolios. Use them to study different approaches, then choose a structure that fits your medium and goal.
21 artist portfolio websites to explore
SiteBuilderReport’s January 7, 2026 roundup includes the following artists. Its list is a source-curated selection, not an independent assessment or a claim that these sites are still live in the same form. Designs and platform details can change, so treat the names as starting points for visual research rather than a current platform directory.

Pixpa’s June 19, 2026 article broadens the field with examples spanning painting, illustration, sculpture, installation, and mixed media. That range is useful because a portfolio’s layout should respond to the work: a set of discrete images, a sequence of related works, and an immersive installation do not necessarily benefit from the same presentation.

What to look for when studying an artist’s site
Does the layout suit the medium?
A simple grid can make individual works easy to scan. Large or full-screen images can give a single work more impact, while video or spacious layouts can help communicate the scale and spatial character of installation work. The point is not to use the most dramatic layout; it is to make the work legible and compelling without letting the interface compete with it.

Can visitors understand how the work is organized?
Named collections or series help visitors navigate a varied practice. Look for whether the site gives each body of work a clear entry point and whether a visitor can move between projects without losing context.
Is the site built for discovery, commissions, representation, or sales?
A portfolio meant to attract commissions should make contact or commission information easy to find. An artist seeking representation may need prominent context about their practice and professional background. A shop-oriented site needs a clear route from viewing work to purchasing it. A site used mainly for discovery should make the work and artist identity easy to understand quickly.

| Example layout | Described structure | Potential fit |
|---|---|---|
| Montclaire | Simple, gallery-like grid | Individual works that benefit from a straightforward overview |
| Talva | Looser gallery layout | Artists seeking clients who want a more open presentation |
| Spotted | Large, high-impact artwork presented full-screen | Work that benefits from an immersive first impression |
| Kester | Simple grid with contact, shop, blog, and social links | An artist who wants portfolio browsing alongside several clear next steps |
| Toledo | One-page presentation with artist background, work preview, and contact or external portfolio links | A concise starting point or a route into work hosted elsewhere |
These patterns are useful as design references even if you use a different service or build a custom site. Select based on how visitors need to experience the work, not on a template’s name or visual novelty.
What an artist portfolio website should include
- Selected work up front: Lead with work that represents the practice and the audience you want to reach.
- Clear collections or series: Give bodies of work descriptive names and a predictable route into each one.
- Useful artist context: Add a concise bio or artist statement. Include a CV or exhibition information when it serves your goals.
- A visible next step: Make it easy to contact you, inquire about commissions, learn about your practice, or buy work if sales are part of the site’s purpose.
- Mobile-ready presentation: Review the pages on a phone as well as a desktop display.
Pixpa’s author, Gurpreet Singh, writes: “The best artist portfolio websites all do one thing well: they let the art take over the screen and keep everything else out of its way.” That is a useful design test, but it does not mean every portfolio should omit navigation, captions, or context. Those elements should support the work and the visitor’s task.

Choose a platform category before choosing a platform
A standalone website builder and a creative discovery platform solve different problems. SiteBuilderReport attributes platforms such as Squarespace, Format, Weebly, WordPress, GoDaddy, and Wix to some examples in its roundup; those attributions should not be treated as independently verified current details. A separate comparison from Squarespace discusses builders including Adobe Portfolio, Behance, Canva, Pixpa, Webflow, and WordPress.com, but its features and paid-plan prices are time-sensitive. Neither comparison establishes one best platform for every artist.
Recommended Free Tools
Artistivo’s September 17, 2026 comparison describes Behance as focused on creative portfolios and projects, ArtStation as oriented toward specialist portfolios and industry discovery for digital and entertainment artists, Artsy as serving art discovery and marketplace use, and Saatchi Art as a venue for selling original visual art. These are the publisher’s characterizations of distinct platform roles, not a guarantee of performance or suitability for an individual artist.

- High Transparency & Lies Flat When Open: Our presentation book with crystal clear PP sheet protectors offers complete transparency for checking through and organizing. Bound sheet protector lies flat when open, free your hands.
- Heavy Duty & Excellent Protection: Made from durable polypropylene which is archival quality, acid-free, non-stick, and non-glare, and water-proof. Thickened and sturdy cover won’t easy to crack and keeps your clear sleeves from being damaged.
- Large 11x17 or A3 Art Portfolio Folder: Folder measures 17 3/4" (L) x 11 13/16" (W) x 13/16" (G). Suitable for artwork storage and displaying your 11.18" x 17.4" or A3 artwork.
- Choose a standalone site when you want a destination organized around your own portfolio and visitor journey.
- Use a community or discovery platform when being present in a creative network or specialist audience is part of your plan.
- Consider a marketplace when discovery and transactions for art are central to your goal.
These routes are not mutually exclusive: an artist may use a personal portfolio as a home base and maintain profiles or listings elsewhere. Decide what each destination is meant to do before comparing features or prices.
