Vermette finished with 1,442 points, 66 ahead of Jordan Williams. The UCI described him as only the second American to win the Men Elite overall title. He placed eighth in the Lake Placid final, recording 72 km/h through the speed trap—enough to secure the season crown.
What was the Whiteface course like?
The UCI described the Whiteface descent as a two-kilometer, machine-built course combining technical wooded sections with faster, open terrain. Wet conditions early in the week gave way to a progressively drier and faster track by race day. Those details come from the UCI’s event report, rather than an independent course assessment.

Where did the weekend take place?
The October 2–4 World Cup finale used two separate venues: downhill racing was at Whiteface Mountain, while cross-country competitions took place at Mt Van Hoevenberg. The split matters when interpreting event schedules and venue directions; the venues are not interchangeable.
