Best conventional USB-C pass-through: Anker 633 Magnetic Battery. Best wall-outlet pass-through hybrid: Anker 733 Power Bank, if you can find genuine US stock. “Pass-through” is not a universal feature: the 633 supports simultaneous charging through USB-C, while the 733 supports it from an AC outlet but not when recharged through USB-C.
What pass-through charging actually means
A pass-through power bank receives energy from a charger while sending power to a connected phone, tablet, earbuds or other device. Depending on the design, some input power first serves the connected device, some recharges the internal battery, and some is lost as heat. It does not guarantee the device receives the charger’s full wattage or that power will remain uninterrupted.

1. Anker 633 Magnetic Battery: best USB-C pass-through for phones
The 633 is the straightforward choice when you want to plug a USB-C charger into the bank and charge a phone at the same time. Anker explicitly documents simultaneous self-charging and handheld-device charging through its USB-C Power Delivery port. See the official product page and specifications.

Magnetic versus wired charging
Magnetic attachment is convenient for a compatible iPhone or magnetic case, but it is slower than the wired 20W connection and can produce more heat. Non-compatible cases, metal plates, cards, wallets and movement can weaken or interrupt alignment. For speed, efficiency or heat control, use a cable.

Who should buy it
Choose the 633 for a compact, phone-focused setup: connect a USB-C wall charger to the bank, then charge your phone magnetically or by cable. Its ports can also power a second USB-A device, but it is not a high-output multi-device workstation or a sensible laptop-power recommendation.
Price and availability
Anker’s US pages showed a $59.99 list price with a $14 discount, while a collection page showed $45.99. These are dated price snapshots, not guaranteed prices. Check the current collection before buying.

2. Anker 733 Power Bank: best AC pass-through hybrid
The 733 combines a wall charger and a battery. When plugged directly into an AC outlet, it can charge connected devices while replenishing its internal battery. Anker’s documentation and FAQ make an important distinction: simultaneous output is not supported when the 733 itself is being recharged through USB-C.

|---|---|---|
| Wall-charger mode | Up to 65W total output | Useful for charging devices from an outlet while the battery tops up |

The 733 accepts 100–240V AC input and is rated at 37Wh. Anker says it should generally travel in carry-on baggage, but airline rules control. Its current presence was not confirmed in the reviewed Anker US collection, so verify model number, seller, warranty and US availability before paying.

Who should buy it
Choose the 733 if your workflow is “plug into a hotel or desk outlet and leave my devices connected while the backup battery replenishes.” Choose a different product if your required setup is USB-C-input pass-through, high-wattage portable laptop charging or guaranteed current retail availability.
How to set up each type of pass-through
Anker 633: USB-C pass-through
- Connect a USB-C wall charger to the 633’s USB-C port.
- Attach a compatible phone magnetically or connect a device by cable.
- Check that both the bank and device show charging.
- If charging cycles, remove metal accessories, try another cable or charger, disconnect extra devices and let the bank cool.
Anker 733: AC pass-through
- Plug the 733 directly into an AC outlet.
- Connect your phone, tablet or accessory to its charging port.
- Confirm the device is charging while the internal battery replenishes.
- Do not expect the same behavior when the 733 is recharged through USB-C; Anker says that configuration does not provide simultaneous output.
Safety, interruptions and troubleshooting
Pass-through creates extra conversion and heat. Some models omit the feature because mismatched input and output conditions can cause repeated power cycling; Anker explains this rationale in its 313 FAQ. Use suitable cables and the manufacturer’s recommended charger. Stop using a bank that becomes abnormally hot, swells, smells unusual or repeatedly disconnects.

- Low-power accessories: earbuds and similar devices can trigger trickle-charge or auto-shutoff behavior.
- Full phone: Anker says the 733 stops charging the phone once it is full; behavior varies by product and device.
- Recharge speed: Input wattage, battery level, device demand, cable quality, temperature and conversion losses determine the result. The 633’s quoted 1.8-hour recharge is an Anker test figure, not a pass-through runtime.
- Air travel: Carry power banks in cabin baggage and check your airline’s current rules. The 733’s listed 37Wh is below the commonly referenced 100Wh threshold, but airline policies can be stricter.
When neither pick is right
- For a laptop-first setup, seek a higher-capacity bank with documented USB-C Power Delivery output; neither model should be treated as a high-wattage laptop battery in portable mode.
- For uninterrupted equipment power, buy a dedicated UPS. Pass-through does not promise automatic transfer, regulated output or no-break operation.
- For a normal phone battery where simultaneous self-charging is unnecessary, a standard power bank may offer more capacity or lower cost.
- For newer magnetic charging standards, consider a Qi2 battery, but verify its exact pass-through input path rather than relying on the label.
