Hindustan Times reported on October 2, 2026, citing police and a complaint by Koli’s friend, that the incident happened near a Hanuman temple at about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The account describes allegations, not a court finding.
What reportedly happened in Malwani
According to the Hindustan Times report, which attributed its account to police and a complaint filed by Koli’s friend Aniket Kailas Gawali, autorickshaw driver Sanjay Kurade parked in the middle of the area where Koli and others were playing football. Kurade allegedly asked the boys to stop playing. The report says he then asked younger children to get him a cigarette; after they refused, he reportedly became angry and drove farther into the playing area.
