The $118.76 reduction makes this a compelling capacity-per-bay purchase for NAS owners, but the offer is time-sensitive and the drive is a poor fit for portable storage or SSD-like latency.
What the deal includes

What the ST16000VN001 is
This is an internal 3.5-inch SATA hard disk built for network-attached storage, not a USB desktop or portable drive. Seagate positions IronWolf for continuous operation in multi-bay NAS systems, stating that the drives are designed for “24×7 reliability, performance, and scalability in multi-bay NAS systems.” The manufacturer specifies support for NAS enclosures with one to eight bays.
| Specification | Manufacturer-listed detail |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 16TB |
| Form factor | 3.5-inch internal drive |
| Interface | SATA 6Gb/s |
| Recording technology | CMR |
| Rotational speed | Up to 7,200 RPM |
| Cache | 256MB |
| Maximum sustained data rate | Up to 180MB/s |
| Workload rating | 180TB per year |
| NAS features | Rotational-vibration sensors and IronWolf Health Management on compatible NAS systems |
These are Seagate’s specifications, not independent benchmark results. Actual throughput, noise, power use and rebuild times depend on the NAS enclosure, RAID or storage pool layout, network and workload.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Who should consider buying it
NAS owners needing dense capacity
The drive suits a home or small-business NAS used for computer backups, a large media library, surveillance archives or shared files. A 16TB disk can add substantial usable space while leaving fewer bays occupied than smaller models, although RAID parity, filesystem overhead and reserved space reduce the capacity visible to users.
Always-on multi-bay deployments
CMR recording, vibration sensing and the stated 180TB/year workload rating are relevant when several disks operate together around the clock. IronWolf Health Management can provide drive-health information only when the NAS platform supports that feature.

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Compatibility checks before ordering
- Confirm the bay and interface: the enclosure must accept a 3.5-inch SATA drive and have an unused bay, caddy or mounting tray.
- Check capacity support: verify that the NAS firmware and storage system support individual 16TB disks. Older enclosures can impose lower disk-size limits.
- Review the storage layout: replacing or adding a disk to RAID, SHR-like pools or other arrays may trigger lengthy resilvering and require matching or greater capacity.
- Check physical and environmental limits: allow for the NAS manufacturer’s approved drive list, cooling and vibration requirements, and available power budget.
- Plan protection separately: RAID improves availability but is not a backup. Keep an additional copy of irreplaceable data.
When the discount is not the right answer
- You need portability: this is an internal 3.5-inch mechanism and requires a compatible enclosure or NAS; a portable external drive is more practical for travel.
- You need very low latency: a solid-state drive responds faster for databases, virtual machines and interactive workloads. The 15% reduction does not make a hard disk behave like an SSD.
- Your NAS has limited capacity support: buying a disk that the enclosure cannot initialize creates an expensive compatibility problem.
- You need a different service package: compare the seller’s warranty, return terms and any data-recovery coverage before checkout. Those protections are separate from the hardware specifications.
How to judge the deal against alternatives
Use four checks rather than the headline percentage:
- Total landed cost: compare the final checkout total, including shipping and tax, and calculate price per terabyte.
- Bay and capacity fit: make sure the disk works in your specific NAS and that the extra capacity is useful in your planned array.
- Workload and vibration needs: a NAS-rated disk with a stated workload rating and vibration sensors is more appropriate for multi-disk, always-on use than a basic desktop disk.
- Warranty and recovery terms: compare the exact seller and manufacturer coverage, because a lower purchase price may not include the same support.
Practical buying verdict
At $670.99, this is a meaningful discount for someone who already owns a compatible NAS and wants 16TB of additional, continuously available storage. The approximate $41.94-per-terabyte price is attractive for a NAS-class hard disk, provided the listing remains in stock and the final checkout cost does not erase the saving. Buyers without a NAS, or those prioritizing speed and portability, should choose a different storage type instead of buying solely because the label says 15% off.
