The most useful iPhone gadgets solve a specific problem: keeping the phone charged, holding it securely, improving one-handed use, or making a desk, car, or travel setup less cluttered. The right choice depends on your exact iPhone model, whether your case supports magnetic attachment, and which power adapter you already own.
Apple’s accessory catalog includes chargers, power banks, grips, stands, car mounts, and multi-device docks from several makers. Those listings establish the product categories, not a universal performance ranking, so treat every recommendation below as a buying framework and verify the exact model before ordering.

First, understand MagSafe and Qi compatibility
MagSafe combines wireless charging with a ring of magnets for alignment. Apple’s MagSafe Charger (1 m) is described as “certified for Qi2 25W and Qi charging.” It can charge iPhone 8 or later through Qi, but magnetic alignment is limited to the iPhone models Apple identifies as MagSafe-compatible.
That distinction matters. An older Qi-capable iPhone can receive power from the charger when placed correctly, yet it will not necessarily snap into place or hold a magnetic wallet, grip, or mount. A case can also block attachment unless it has a compatible magnetic ring.

Charging speed is model- and adapter-dependent. Apple lists up to 25W for specified newer iPhones when the charger is paired with a 30W USB-C power adapter, which is sold separately. Apple Support’s guidance published March 31, 2026, says iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini can receive up to 12W from MagSafe with the required power supply. Do not apply either figure to every iPhone.
| Accessory type | Best use | Compatibility and requirement to check |
|---|---|---|
| MagSafe charger | Desk or bedside charging | Qi charging for iPhone 8 or later; magnetic alignment only on listed MagSafe models; up to 25W on specified newer models with a 30W USB-C adapter |
| Magnetic power bank | Commuting and travel | Requires a magnet-compatible iPhone or case; battery capacity, output and included cable vary by model |
| Multi-device dock | Nightstand charging | Confirm which phone, watch and earbud charging modules are included and whether separate adapters are needed |
| Qi wireless pad | Older Qi-capable iPhones | Provides wireless charging without guaranteeing magnetic alignment; verify the pad’s power specification |
| Charging cable | Fastest, most predictable wired charging | Match the cable connector to the iPhone and the plug on your power adapter; cable wattage and data support differ |
13 useful iPhone gadgets
1. MagSafe charger for a desk or bedside table
A MagSafe charger is the most versatile starting point if your iPhone supports magnetic alignment. The magnetic connection centers the phone, so you can lift it off with one hand and replace it without hunting for a charging sweet spot. The one-metre cable suits a desk or nightstand, provided the power adapter can reach an outlet.
Check the charger’s stated iPhone list and your adapter before expecting maximum speed. Apple’s 25W figure applies only to specified newer models with a separately sold 30W USB-C adapter. For iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini, Apple Support specifies up to 12W with the required power supply.
2. Slim magnetic power bank
A magnetic power bank is for moments when an outlet is unavailable: commuting, airports, festivals and long navigation sessions. It attaches to the back of a compatible iPhone or magnetic case, leaving the phone usable while it charges.
Compare thickness, weight, battery capacity, output and whether a cable is included. A high-capacity pack may keep the phone running longer but add noticeable bulk. Magnetic attachment also depends on the phone and case, so confirm that the ring lines up before buying. The power bank’s advertised output is not automatically the same as the iPhone’s actual charging rate.
3. Three-in-one charging dock
A three-in-one dock consolidates a phone, smartwatch and wireless-earbud case in one nightstand footprint. It is useful when separate cables create a tangle or when you want all devices visible and ready in the morning.
Inspect the exact dock layout: some use a magnetic phone pad, some use a recessed Qi surface, and watch charging hardware can be model-specific. Confirm that the phone position works with your case, that the earbud case supports wireless charging, and that the dock includes the required power supply. Apple’s catalog shows multi-device docks from makers including Belkin and Zens, but a catalog listing is not an independent performance test.

4. Two-in-one travel charger
A foldable two-in-one charger reduces packing clutter for trips by combining phone charging with a second device position, commonly earbuds or a watch. It is easier to pack than two separate stands and keeps both devices aligned on a hotel nightstand.
Choose one that folds flat, has a clear list of supported devices and includes the cable or adapter you need. Check the hinge’s folded dimensions and the charger’s input requirement; a compact charger is not useful if you leave its power brick at home. Magnetic phone charging still requires a compatible iPhone or case.
5. Magnetic grip for one-handed use
A magnetic grip gives your fingers a secure purchase for texting, photography and reading on a larger iPhone. Unlike a permanently adhesive accessory, it can be removed when you want a flat back for wireless charging.

Verify the grip’s magnetic strength with your exact case. A thick, non-magnetic case can weaken the connection or prevent attachment. Consider how the grip affects pocketability and whether the maker permits charging through it. Apple’s accessory catalog includes magnetic grip products from makers such as PopSockets; that presence does not establish that every grip works with every case.

A grip-and-stand combines handling security with hands-free viewing. It can prop the iPhone in portrait for calls or landscape for video, making it practical on a kitchen counter, airplane tray or office desk.
Look for a stand angle that matches your use and a hinge rated for repeated movement. Magnetic models are convenient when you switch between bare phone, case and charger, but the stand must still hold the phone’s weight at the chosen angle. Confirm whether wireless charging works without removing the accessory.
7. Dashboard mount for navigation
A dashboard mount places navigation where you can glance at it without reaching toward the center console. A magnetic mount is quick to attach, while a clamp-style design can hold phones without a magnetic case.
Before installation, check that the mount does not block the windshield, instrument cluster or an airbag deployment path. Confirm the adhesive or suction method suits your dashboard material and temperature range. For magnetic versions, verify that the phone or case is compatible and that the mount’s angle keeps glare manageable. Scosche is one maker represented in Apple’s car-mount catalog; the listing alone does not certify a particular installation for your vehicle.

8. Magnetic car-vent mount
A vent mount is an alternative when you do not want adhesive on the dashboard. It keeps the phone close to the driver and can be moved between vehicles more easily than a fixed mount.
The trade-off is airflow and vent strength. A heavy phone may pull a weak vent clip downward, and directing hot or cold air at the phone can affect comfort and battery behavior. Check the clip design, the mount’s rotation range and the compatibility of your case. Never place a mount where it interferes with controls or visibility.
9. MagSafe-compatible case
A case with a built-in magnetic ring can add MagSafe-style attachment to an iPhone that otherwise lacks a magnetic connection, or strengthen alignment on a compatible model. It is the foundation for using magnetic chargers, grips, wallets and mounts without removing protection.
Confirm the case is made for your exact iPhone generation and camera layout. “Magnetic” does not guarantee the same alignment or holding force as Apple’s specification. Check whether the case supports wireless charging, how much it raises the screen and cameras, and whether the ring is exposed or integrated under the material.

Match both ends to your iPhone and power adapter, then check the cable’s stated power and data capabilities. Length is a practical choice: a short cable reduces desk clutter, while a longer one reaches a bedside outlet. Keep a second cable in your travel bag so a forgotten charger does not turn into a search for an outlet accessory.
11. Qi-compatible wireless charger
A standard Qi pad is a sensible option for an older Qi-capable iPhone that does not have magnetic alignment. It can also serve as a shared charging surface for several Qi devices in a household.
Unlike MagSafe, a basic Qi pad does not hold the phone in place. Center the phone carefully and expect charging to stop if it shifts. Check the pad’s input requirement, heat management and included adapter. If you later move to a MagSafe iPhone, the pad can remain useful for earbuds or another Qi device.

A magnetic wallet attaches to the back of a compatible iPhone or case and keeps a small set of cards with the phone. It is convenient for quick errands when you do not want a separate wallet.
Check the wallet’s stated card capacity and retention, then test it with your case installed. Strong attachment is essential because the wallet is handled by its edges and can snag on clothing. Carry only the cards you need and follow your card issuer’s guidance about contactless payment and magnetic accessories. A wallet can also make the phone thicker and may need to be removed before charging.
13. Camera grip or tripod accessory
A camera grip or tripod mount turns the iPhone into a more stable tool for group photos, time-lapse clips, video calls and low-light shooting. A grip is useful for walking shots; a tripod is better when the phone must remain still.
Fit is the first filter. Confirm the accessory’s exact iPhone dimensions, case clearance and orientation range. Check whether the mount covers cameras, buttons or the charging port. For magnetic camera accessories, verify the holding force for the phone-plus-case combination and use a secondary tether when a drop would damage the phone or equipment.
How to choose without a compatibility mistake
- Identify the phone. On the iPhone, open Settings > General > About and read Model Name. Do not rely on screen size or camera count alone.
- Check magnetic support. Separate “charges wirelessly” from “aligns magnetically.” If the model is not on the accessory maker’s MagSafe-compatible list, plan on a Qi pad, a compatible case or a non-magnetic mount.
- Include the case in the test. Measure compatibility with the case installed. Thick, rugged or non-magnetic cases can reduce attachment strength and charging efficiency.
- Match the power path. Confirm the charger’s required adapter, connector and rated output. Apple’s highest MagSafe figure requires a separately sold 30W USB-C adapter, and mini models have a lower stated ceiling.
- Choose the installation point. Desk chargers favor easy removal; car mounts favor visibility and safe placement; travel chargers favor folding size and fewer separate cables.
- Check what is in the box. A dock, power bank or mount may not include the adapter, cable, adhesive pad or vehicle hardware you need.
What Apple’s accessory listings do—and do not—tell you
Apple’s catalog is useful for discovering accessory categories and examples from Anker, PopSockets, Scosche, Belkin, mophie, Twelve South and Zens. It does not prove that every listed product is the best choice, fits every iPhone case or delivers a particular charging speed in your setup. Use the catalog to find a category, then read the individual product’s model list, power requirements, dimensions and included parts.
For a first purchase, start with the job you perform most often: a MagSafe charger for a compatible desk setup, a Qi pad for an older Qi iPhone, a power bank for travel, or a mount for navigation. Add grips, wallets, docks and camera accessories only after confirming that the phone, case and mounting surface work together.
Bottom line
There is no single best iPhone gadget for everyone. The best pick is the one that matches your iPhone model, case and power adapter while solving a specific daily problem. Verify magnetic alignment separately from wireless charging, carry the adapter requirements with every speed claim, and treat product listings as compatibility leads rather than guarantees.
