顺序性能：大文件够用，别把 180MB/s 当成全盘速度
官方的 180MB/s 是持续外圈读取上限，146MB/s 是平均数据传输率，不代表每个工作负载都能达到。机械盘越接近内圈、越接近满盘，顺序速度通常越低；USB 转接盒、控制器、文件系统、温度和后台任务也会改变结果。
StorageReview 在 128K 顺序负载中测得读取 157.3MB/s、写入 155.6MB/s，在当时测试组中处于中游。对电影、照片、备份镜像和游戏安装包等大文件，这一水平仍然实用；它的 SATA 6Gb/s 是链路规格，不意味着硬盘能达到 SSD 的约 600MB/s 级吞吐。
随机读写：不适合作为系统盘
在 StorageReview 的 Web Server 纯读取测试中，ST4000DM000 的传输性能约从 2T/2Q 的 74 IOPS 扩展到 16T/16Q 的 88 IOPS；同组 Hitachi Deskstar 7K4000 为 88 到 112 IOPS。IOPS 属于特定队列和线程配置，不能直接换算成所有电脑的体验，但足以说明它不是随机性能领先者。

可靠性指标不等于寿命保证
官方给出的 55TB/年工作负载、2,400 小时/年额定开机时间、1/1014 不可恢复读错误率和 300,000 次加载/卸载次数，都是设计或统计指标，不是“能用多少年”的承诺，也不意味着低于 55TB/年就不会故障。
任何单块硬盘都不应保存重要数据的唯一副本。4TB 硬盘发生故障后，完整复制或恢复可能耗时很长；SMART 只能帮助发现部分风险，不能预测所有突然故障。
兼容性与 4TB 识别问题
现代 UEFI、GPT 和新版本 Windows、Linux 通常可以正常使用 4TB。旧 BIOS、Windows XP、老磁盘控制器或旧外置硬盘盒可能受 2TB 限制，表现为只显示约 2TB或无法启动。作为数据盘时通常应使用 GPT；作为启动盘，还必须同时满足主板、引导模式和操作系统要求。

外置盒还可能因桥接芯片、供电不足或分区表问题报错。初始化前确认控制器和硬盘盒支持大容量，且不要为了“修复容量”而删除原有分区。
