The CPI(M) will conduct an internal inquiry into an allegation that Thrikannapuram councillor Ajin S demanded ₹10 lakh over a land dispute, state secretary M V Govindan said on October 3, 2026. The allegation is disputed: complainant Sanju says the money was sought to resolve issues concerning his plot, while Ajin denies it and calls the recordings released by Sanju fabricated and AI-generated. No inquiry or police finding is reported in the available coverage.

What prompted the CPI(M) inquiry

Sanju, a Thirumala resident, alleges that Ajin demanded ₹10 lakh in connection with a plot he had bought at MLA Road. According to the reports, Sanju says Ajin raised questions about liability and encroachment and sought money to resolve them. The New Indian Express described the property as 19 cents. These are claims attributed to Sanju, not established findings.

Sanju released audio and video clips described in reports as purported evidence. The coverage does not independently authenticate the recordings or settle the competing accounts.

What the councillor says

Ajin denies the allegation and says the audio and video clips were fabricated and AI-generated. The reports do not establish that the clips are authentic or that the alleged demand took place.

What the party has announced

CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan said: “The Thiruvananthapuram district committee will conduct an inquiry.” He declined to comment further. The announcement is of an internal party inquiry; the October 3 reports do not say that it had concluded or give an outcome.

What police and the Corporation have done

Police complaints

The reporting says Sanju filed complaints with the Home Minister and Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner. Mayor V V Rajesh said police had recorded Sanju’s statement. The reports do not provide a police finding or case outcome.

Mayor’s account of the Corporation’s role

Rajesh said the Corporation had examined available facts, that discussions remained to be held, and that strict action would be taken. He also said the Corporation had not filed a complaint and was examining legal aspects. He described limits on Corporation inquiries into individual councillors: land matters, he said, should be investigated by Revenue Department officials, including the Village Officer, Tahsildar and District Collector, while the Corporation would intervene in building-construction matters.

Rajesh said: “There are some discussions to be held in this regard. Strict action will be taken.” His comments describe the Corporation’s stated position; they are not a finding on the allegation.

What is known—and what remains unresolved

  • Party: The CPI(M) district committee is to conduct an internal inquiry, according to Govindan.
  • Complainant: Sanju alleges a ₹10 lakh demand connected to land-related issues and released recordings he presents as evidence.
  • Councillor: Ajin denies the allegation and says the clips were fabricated and AI-generated.
  • Authorities: Reports describe complaints to state and city officials and the recording of Sanju’s statement, but no finding by police, the party inquiry or the Corporation.

The next substantive development would be an attributable update from the party, police or Corporation. Until one is reported, the allegation should not be treated as proven.
