Overview

Vetspire covers much of a practice’s daily workflow in one system: patient records, appointments, client communications, online booking, inventory, financial reporting, analytics, internal chat, tasks and payment processing. That range may suit practices trying to coordinate clinical and operational work in one place. Its audience spans general practice, emergency, specialty and mobile clinics, as well as universities.

Vetspire describes its implementation experience as white-glove. The platform is cloud-based and accessed in a browser, which makes the stated device requirements important: it requires broadband with at least 10 Mbps download and upload. Practices with unreliable or slower connections should weigh that requirement against the convenience of browser access.

Key features

Records and AI tools

Real-time documentation, multi-user editing, customizable input types and record sharing support teams that need to work on the same patient history. AI Scribe transcribes conversations into SOAP notes, while AI Summary surfaces patient history and visit information. These tools address documentation and context retrieval, although practices should assess whether the AI workflow fits their clinical process.

Scheduling and client communication

The scheduler supports drag-and-drop rescheduling, custom appointment types and durations, and reusable schedule templates. Clients can book online at any time, and recurring appointments are supported. Teams can email or text clients and referring veterinarians from patient charts, with messages triggered by events. Telehealth is also supported, giving the platform reach beyond in-clinic scheduling and records.

Operations and integrations

Inventory management, financial reporting, analytics, payment processing, internal chat and user tasks extend Vetspire beyond clinical records. Listed integrations include IDEXX, Antech, Zoetis, Twilio, RingCentral, Covetrus vRxPro and Vetsource. This breadth can be useful for practices seeking connected workflows, though each clinic should confirm that its required services are covered.

API and security

The API uses secret keys for authorization and requires HTTPS. Because the documentation says those keys provide read and write access to organization data, practices should manage them accordingly. GraphQL query depth is capped at eight, a practical constraint for teams building deeper queries.

Pricing

Vetspire is paid software with custom pricing. Its Vetspire plan has no published price and asks practices to schedule a demo, so budgeting requires a sales conversation. No seat limits, quotas, trial length or renewal terms are stated.

For practices comparing costs, Vetspire’s custom pricing makes it difficult to judge against a fixed monthly commitment before speaking with the vendor. The breadth of clinical and operational functions may make consolidation attractive, but whether that offsets the cost depends on the quote and the practice’s existing tools.

Platforms

Vetspire runs in a web browser on Mac or Windows computers, iPads, Android tablets, and iOS or Android smartphones; Chrome is recommended. The platform list also includes Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, web and API. Its minimum broadband requirement is 10 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. Vetspire provides a Help Center and user manual, while its system requirements page says support cannot troubleshoot hardware issues.

Who it's for

Vetspire is a plausible fit for general practices, emergency hospitals, specialty clinics, mobile clinics and universities that want records, scheduling, communication and operational functions together. Its stated audience also includes independent clinics and enterprise groups. Practices that need predictable published pricing or cannot reliably meet the broadband requirement have reason to compare alternatives first.

Pros and cons

Pros

Real-time, multi-user records with customizable inputs support shared clinical documentation.
Scheduling, online booking, recurring appointments, telehealth and event-triggered email and SMS cover several client-facing workflows.
Inventory, analytics, reporting, tasks, internal chat and payment processing extend beyond core practice records.
Integrations include major diagnostic and veterinary service names such as IDEXX, Antech and Zoetis.

Cons

Custom pricing requires a demo before practices can assess the cost.
The 10 Mbps minimum in both download and upload can be a constraint for locations with slower broadband.
API keys allow read and write access to organization data, requiring careful handling.
The API’s GraphQL query depth limit of eight may constrain some integrations.

Alternatives

NaVetor is worth comparing for practices seeking a free option: its Patterson Pay plan is free when using Patterson payment services, subject to transaction-volume eligibility, and includes full feature access.

Provet Cloud offers a Core plan at 99.00 USD per month, billed at $99 per vet per month, with a $249/month platform fee that includes one vet; it may suit single-site practices comparing a priced plan with Vetspire’s custom quote.

DaySmart Vet starts at 123.00 USD per month, with pricing varying by practice, making it another priced option for clinics seeking a monthly starting point.

Covetrus Pulse is another paid veterinary platform with pricing available through a demo.

Shepherd discusses pricing during a demo and includes unlimited users, unlimited work stations and Shepherd Pay.

Vetstar is a paid alternative available as self-hosted software or on the web.

ezyVet has a starting package at 199.00 USD per month, with pricing varying by hospital or practice size, and supports a broad range of platforms.

Digitail has a free trial and a Mobile plan covering cloud-based SOAP records, scheduling, online booking, inventory, billing, payments and more than 40 integrations.

Verdict

Vetspire is best suited to veterinary organizations that want clinical records, scheduling, client communications and practice operations in one browser-accessed platform. Its strongest reason to choose it is that breadth, including AI documentation tools and online booking. Practices should look elsewhere if a firm published price is essential or their internet connection cannot consistently meet the 10 Mbps download and upload minimum.
