Overview

ZEST Security is an exposure management platform for security teams coordinating vulnerability remediation across cloud, code, containers, infrastructure as code, applications, and supply-chain assets. It is best suited to organizations with several cloud providers and security tools that want help turning findings into a prioritized resolution plan. Its appeal is the focus on reducing risk without directly changing cloud environments; its clearest drawback is custom pricing beyond a short, limited trial.

Key features

ZEST simulates possible fixes and mitigations to identify paths intended to reduce the most risk with the least effort. Contextual prioritization and asset-criticality context make that approach more useful than treating every exposure as equal, particularly for teams facing a large backlog. The platform's value depends on connecting the accounts and tools that reflect the environment being assessed.

Its agents cover asset mapping, root-cause analysis, prioritization, impact simulation, code generation, cloud-policy and guardrail analysis, and resolution building. That range supports several parts of remediation planning, although the platform is not described as making production cloud changes itself. ZEST says it uses read-only cloud access.

AWS, Azure, and GCP are supported. ZEST says deployment takes minutes through a read-only cloud account and built-in connectors, and that it supports more than 50 integrations across cloud security posture management, vulnerability management, software composition analysis, and application security posture management. Named integrations include GitHub, GitLab, Terraform, Jira, Slack, ServiceNow, Qualys, Rapid7, Tenable, Snyk, and Wiz. This breadth is a strong fit for teams already using a mix of security tools; the plan limits on integrations still matter.

ZEST says each customer receives a separate tenant hosted on AWS in the US or Europe, customer data is not sent to external AI services, and its in-house language model runs within its AWS infrastructure. It also states that it is SOC 2 compliant. Those controls may suit organizations cautious about cloud access and AI data handling, while the US-or-Europe hosting choice is the stated regional scope.

Pricing

The Free plan is free and is a billed 14-day trial, not a continuing free tier. It covers one cloud project or account, configuration-only drift detection, limited AI prioritization, one IaC integration, and one security-stack integration, with US working-hours technical support. That is enough to assess a narrow setup, but the project and connector caps make it a poor fit for evaluating a broad multi-cloud environment.

Security Teams (lean teams) has custom pricing on a yearly subscription. It includes 100 cloud projects or accounts across AWS, Azure, and GCP, up to five security-stack integrations, one code-repository integration, and US working-hours support. The project allowance and multi-cloud coverage suit lean teams managing several accounts, but the five-stack and single-repository limits may constrain teams with more varied tooling.

Enterprise also has custom pricing on a yearly subscription. It raises the allowance to 300 cloud projects or accounts, includes AWS, Azure, and GCP, and removes the stated caps on code-repository and security-stack integrations; support is 24/7. It is the stronger fit for larger environments or teams that need round-the-clock assistance. Both paid plans are billed yearly, and neither has a published price to compare against the trial.

Platforms

ZEST is available through API and web platforms. Its cloud coverage is AWS, Azure, and GCP; it is hosted on AWS, with separate customer tenants in the US or Europe.

Who it's for

ZEST is aimed at security teams trying to move from managing a risk backlog to resolving it. It is most compelling for organizations that need contextual prioritization across multiple cloud providers and want to connect existing security and development tools. Teams seeking a permanent free plan, or a platform with broad repository and security-stack connections under a low-cost entry tier, should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: Simulated resolution paths focus on reducing risk with less effort, rather than only surfacing findings.
Pros: AWS, Azure, and GCP support plus more than 50 integrations can accommodate teams with varied cloud and security tooling.
Pros: Read-only cloud access and an in-house AI model that ZEST says stays within its AWS infrastructure address concerns about production changes and external AI services.
Cons: The 14-day trial is capped at one cloud account, one IaC integration, and one security-stack integration, limiting evaluation at scale.
Cons: Paid plans require yearly subscriptions with custom pricing, so teams cannot compare a published price before contacting ZEST.
Cons: Security Teams limits repository integration to one and security-stack integrations to five, which may not cover more complex toolchains.

Alternatives

Exposure Management Software is a useful place to compare the broader category. Choose Mondoo CSPM if a free-forever option matters: its Open Source Tools plan includes cloud, Kubernetes, OS, SaaS, and API scanning. runZero is another freemium option; its Community Edition is free and caps use at 100 assets, one organization, 10 recurring tasks, and 30 days of data retention.

Qualys Enterprise TruRisk Platform is a paid alternative with a free plan and free trial. XM Cyber Exposure Management is a paid, subscription-based SaaS option with custom pricing. For a published entry price and a generous stated license allowance, Obsonis Exposure Management Platform offers a Small Business Remote plan at 25.00 USD per month, billed per license, for up to 50 licenses and unlimited assets.

Outpost24 Attack Surface Management uses packages customized to cybersecurity goals, teams, and timelines, and has no free plan. Zscaler Private Access is another paid option, with its ZPA Standard (Essentials Platform) plan limited to private access for 5% of users. Cymulate Platform offers a paid subscription tailored to the organization, with price depending on package, assets, and scenarios.

Verdict

Choose ZEST if your security team needs to coordinate exposure resolution across AWS, Azure, GCP, and a broad toolchain, and values simulated remediation paths with read-only cloud access. Look elsewhere if a permanent free tier or transparent pricing is essential: the trial lasts only 14 days, is tightly capped, and the annual paid plans are custom-priced.
