Overview

SpotOn covers service styles from casual and fine dining to breweries, quick service, fast casual, cafes and bakeries. Bringing POS and management functions into one system can suit operators looking to coordinate front-of-house and back-office work without assembling every capability separately. The trade-off is a more controlled setup: restaurant customers cannot use their own POS hardware or tablets, and integrations come through selected providers rather than an open API.

Key features

The POS includes table layouts, menu management, ordering, payments, reporting and employee tools. Reservation booking, table management and staff scheduling extend its usefulness beyond taking payments, particularly for restaurants coordinating seated service and staff. During an internet outage, SpotOn says stations and devices can stay connected and send orders to the kitchen; offline payments sync when connectivity returns, a practical safeguard for service continuity.

SpotOn Order connects commission-free online ordering to the POS and GoTo Place app. DoorDash and Uber Eats integrate directly, while Deliverect connects additional delivery platforms. The dashboard adds an AI menu assistant, dynamic reporting, marketing campaigns, remote management, multi-location tools and employee tools. This breadth is useful to operators who want several workflows in one system, though third-party integrations remain selective. Third-party software fees apply; there is no blanket integration access charge, but opting out of the Core Bundle brings a small monthly marketplace access fee.

SpotOn includes 24/7/365 technical support from real people at no extra cost. Its dashboard works in a browser on any device and is described as mobile-friendly. PCI PTS v7 and end-to-end encryption are specified for the Handheld device.

Pricing

Pricing combines subscriptions, processing and hardware or implementation costs, so the monthly software figure alone does not capture the commitment.

All-In Plan: 0.00 USD per free, with processing minimums and a 2-year minimum term. It includes POS software and hardware, ordering, payments, table layouts, menu management and reporting. The zero listed price is not a no-cost, no-commitment option: processing minimums and the two-year term matter.
Core Bundle: 50.00 USD per month, billed $50/month +20bps of GPV (capped at $200), per location. It includes Profit Assist, SpotOn Order, GoTo Place app, Marketing Assist and software integrations. The per-location structure suits operators wanting those connected tools, but the GPV charge and cap should be weighed against location volume.
POS Essentials: 55.00 USD per month, billed $55/station per month. Station 15 costs $750/each and a Handheld $297/each, plus implementation costs. Processing is 2.45% + $0.15 for card present (except Amex: 3.19% + $0.15) and 3.45% + $0.15 for keyed transactions. Per-station billing and transaction charges make this a more limited headline price than a flat software subscription.
Build Your Own: custom pricing for multi-unit, enterprise and other high-volume operations, with custom processing rates plus implementation costs. It is aimed at operators whose scale or requirements call for a tailored arrangement.

There is no free plan. POS Essentials is the stated paid starting point, but proprietary equipment and implementation costs add to the decision; operators should compare the full station, hardware, processing and term commitments.

Platforms

SpotOn lists Android, iOS and web support. Browser access to the dashboard from any device gives managers flexibility, while the proprietary POS hardware requirement limits device choice at the point of sale.

Who it's for

SpotOn is a strong fit for restaurants that want POS, ordering, reservations and management tools connected across full-service, counter-service or bar operations, especially where offline order continuity and multi-location management matter. It is less suitable for operators who need to use existing tablets or POS hardware, require an open API, or want to avoid per-station, processing and implementation costs.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad POS and management coverage, with ordering, reservations, employee tools and multi-location capabilities in the same system.
Pros: Offline mode is designed to keep kitchen orders moving and sync payments after service connectivity returns.
Pros: 24/7/365 technical support is included at no extra cost.
Cons: Proprietary hardware means restaurants cannot bring their own POS devices or tablets.
Cons: Processing, per-station equipment and implementation costs can materially change the cost beyond the software subscription.
Cons: No open API limits integration choices to selected software providers, and third-party fees may apply.

Alternatives

Consider Odoo Point of Sale if a free plan and unlimited users matter more than SpotOn's restaurant-specific combination; its One App Free plan includes one app and Odoo Online.

Resos is a freemium alternative with a Basic plan priced at 4523.00 EUR per month, 350 bookings per month and core features; it may suit a reader comparing reservation-focused booking capacity rather than an integrated restaurant POS.

TableSat offers a free public menu page and guest-facing restaurant page, but its Free plan has no online bookings. It is a narrower fit for operators prioritizing a basic presence over SpotOn's POS and management suite.

Wix Restaurants Table Reservations is free to install, with online bookings requiring an upgraded site plan; choose it when table reservations are the priority rather than a full restaurant POS.

HungerRush has a free Starter plan for qualifying businesses with one location and one POS terminal, making it worth comparing for a small operation that meets those criteria.

Tebi charges 0.00 EUR per free for the first €10k in monthly revenue, then 20.00 EUR per month for an additional €10k revenue band; its revenue-based structure may suit operators comparing that model with SpotOn's station and processing charges.

QUORiON POS is another POS option, with software pricing unpublished and hardware purchased through a reseller.

Eat App has a free plan capped at 100 guests monthly and a Lite plan at 99.00 USD per month, or $69/mo with the yearly option. It is a useful comparison for operators focused on guest and reservation capacity.

Verdict

Choose SpotOn Restaurant if you want a connected restaurant POS with ordering, reservations, operational tools and support for varied service styles, plus offline continuity for orders. Look elsewhere if using your own hardware or open integrations is essential, or if the per-station, processing and implementation costs do not fit your operation.
