Overview

Salesforce Sales Cloud is a CRM and sales-operations suite for teams managing leads, opportunities and deal workflows. It suits organizations that want pipeline, collaboration and compensation tools together and can budget for per-user software. Its free entry point lowers the barrier to trying the system, while paid tiers add capabilities and storage at a substantial price range.

Key features

Pipeline and prospecting

Pipeline Management combines a consolidated deal view with charts, deal insights and AI assistance, giving sales managers a way to follow opportunities in one place. Autonomous prospecting, lead research and qualification, contact enrichment and automated follow-up extend the workflow from finding prospects to continuing engagement. AI agents are positioned across the deal cycle, but some advanced capabilities are available for purchase rather than included in every tier.

Sales operations and collaboration

Configuration rules, quote templates, discount approvals and approval workflows cover the mechanics of preparing and authorizing deals. Commission calculation, quota management, plan simulation, payout tracking and compensation reporting also reach into sales planning and incentive administration. Teams can swarm on opportunities and share account plans, knowledge, files and data. That breadth can help teams coordinating complex deals, though a smaller team needing only a pipeline may not need the full operational scope.

Connected work

Automatic email, event and contact synchronization reduces the need to maintain those records separately. Starter Suite includes dynamic email marketing and analytics, and the product connects with Slack, Tableau, AgentExchange, AppExchange and Lightning Platform. Browser-extension and mobile access support updating CRM away from a desktop; mobile offerings include the Salesforce Mobile App, Sales Cloud Everywhere and full offline functionality.

Pricing

Sales Cloud uses a freemium model, with a 30-day trial and these per-user suite prices:

Free Suite: $0 per user per month, billed monthly, with 10GB per org. It is a no-cost starting point, but some advanced capabilities are available for purchase.
Starter Suite: $25 USD per user per month, billed monthly or annually, with 10GB per org. It adds dynamic email marketing and analytics, making it the more practical entry tier for teams that need those tools.
Pro Suite: $100 per user per month, billed annually, with 10GB per org. Its price is a significant step up from Starter; Premier Support is an add-on.
Core: $195 per user per month, billed annually, with 10GB per org plus 20MB per user.
Advanced: $395 per user per month, billed annually, with 1GB per user, enhanced security, expanded data capacity and Security Center.
Max: $550 per user per month, billed annually, with 1GB per user and 2.75M Flex Credits per org per year; contact sales for detailed pricing information.

The higher listed suites are billed annually, so their larger commitments may not suit teams seeking monthly flexibility. Storage also changes by tier: Free, Starter and Pro have 10GB per org, while Core adds per-user storage and Advanced and Max specify 1GB per user. Max adds substantial annual Flex Credits, but its per-user price makes it a choice for organizations that can justify its higher tier rather than a general-purpose upgrade.

Platforms

Sales Cloud supports browser-extension and mobile access. Mobile support includes the Salesforce Mobile App, Sales Cloud Everywhere and full offline functionality, useful for salespeople who need CRM access away from a connection.

Who it's for

Sales Cloud is a strong fit for organizations coordinating a team pipeline and wanting prospecting, deal approvals, collaboration and compensation workflows in the same suite. Starter is the clearest fit for teams needing email marketing and analytics without moving immediately to the annual higher tiers. It is less compelling for buyers who only need a focused forecasting or commission tool, or who cannot justify per-user costs at the upper end.

Pros and cons

Pro: Pipeline insights, AI assistance and collaboration tools bring deal work into a shared view, which can help teams coordinate opportunities.
Pro: Prospecting, qualification, follow-up, quote approvals and compensation features cover a broad span of sales operations.
Pro: A free tier and a 30-day trial provide ways to start without committing immediately to a paid annual suite.
Con: Some advanced capabilities are available for purchase, so the free tier does not represent the whole feature set.
Con: Annual billing applies to Pro and higher listed suites, and prices rise to $550 per user per month at Max.
Con: The 10GB-per-org storage allocation on Free, Starter and Pro may be restrictive for teams with growing shared data needs.

Alternatives

For a narrower forecasting need, Wizard AI Forecasts offers a free Starter plan with 10 AI credits per month, 10 bookings per month, 25 candidates, 10 companies, 10 content items, one court bundle and five documents; choose it when those bounded forecasting resources suit better than a broad CRM suite.

Aviso Sales Engagement uses custom proposals with tailored solutions, white-glove onboarding and free migration, making it an option for buyers seeking a personalized engagement deployment.

Gong Forecast has no free plan and uses per-user licenses plus a platform fee based on supported users; choose it when a paid forecasting product with customized proposal terms is the better fit.

RevenueGrid offers a $30.00 per month Activity Capture 360 plan, billed per user per month, with automated activity capture and real-time Salesforce integration. Its free trial and Salesforce connection may suit a buyer focused on activity capture rather than a broader sales suite.

Clari Forecast is another paid forecasting option for readers considering a focused alternative.

Goals.com offers annual billing at $49.00 per year or monthly billing at $59.00, with full platform access, all features and a 14-day free trial. It may suit a buyer who prefers those stated billing terms and platform access.

Revcast is a paid, web-based alternative for readers comparing revenue-focused software.

Revenue.io offers a custom-quote, seat-based Activate plan built for Salesforce teams of 15 or more seats, with a Salesforce-native dialer, real-time coaching, recording and routing. It is a more targeted option for a larger Salesforce team prioritizing those capabilities.

Readers comparing specialized tools can also browse AI Sales Forecasting Software, Incentive Compensation Management Software, CPQ Software, Revenue Planning Software, Sales Commission Software and Quota Management Software.

Verdict

Choose Salesforce Sales Cloud if your organization needs a shared sales pipeline plus the collaboration and operational tools to manage deals, quotas and compensation. Its range from a free tier to suites with expanded storage and security is useful, but the annual commitment and steep per-user prices at higher levels are the main reasons to look elsewhere.
