Overview

Trymata brings remote usability research and product analytics together for teams studying websites, apps, and prototypes. It is best suited to research and product teams that want several study formats alongside session-based analytics. Its breadth is useful, but testing quotas and the short PayGO results-retention window can constrain some workflows.

Key features

Trymata supports remote tests of websites, apps, and prototypes on desktop and mobile. Teams can run moderated or unmoderated studies, impression tests, interviews, and focus groups, covering both task-based evaluation and broader qualitative research. Tests can collect video and audio, written survey responses, task outcomes, and UX scores, giving teams more than one way to assess participant feedback.

Product analytics plans are organized by monthly session volume, with all features unlocked at each tier. That makes the fit relatively clear for teams that know their traffic, though the higher-volume tiers carry sharply higher prices. AI video summaries and automated video annotations are paid add-ons, so they add cost for teams seeking those analysis tools.

Usability testing and product analytics customers get access to Research repository features for one year. A dedicated partner API lets customers use Trymata testing software from a partner site; named partners include QuestionPro, IdeaScale, Chisel, and Fresco. For agencies, separate client data and billing with gated access address the need to keep client work distinct, while unlimited seats remove a seat cap.

Pricing

Trymata has a free plan and a 14-day trial. The trial offers two weeks of Enterprise-level features and a first test at no charge, with no credit card required. PayGO costs 0.00 USD per free, with no subscription required: customers can buy test credits as needed for any number of studies, but results are stored for up to six months. That suits occasional research better than a recurring subscription, provided the retention limit works for the team.

The Team plan costs 399.00 USD per month, billed monthly or annually. It includes 10 panel testers per month, 10 own-user invites per month, two seats, and three highlight reels per month. Those quotas make it a defined team package rather than an unlimited testing option. Enterprise costs 2000.00 USD per month, billed monthly or annually, and has the same stated monthly tester and invite quotas, two seats, and three highlight reels; teams should weigh that seat and usage cap against the higher price.

Product analytics is sold separately by monthly sessions: 0–4,000 sessions costs 300.00 USD per month, billed annually; 4,001–15,000 costs 650.00 USD per month, billed annually; and 15,001–40,000 costs 2000.00 USD per month, billed annually. Each tier unlocks all features, so the primary distinction is session volume. The 40,000+ monthly-session tier has custom pricing.

The Agency plan has custom pricing and is billed annually. It provides separate client licenses, data, and billing, plus unlimited seats, making it the most clearly tailored option for agencies managing multiple clients. The stated testing quotas on Team and Enterprise may be restrictive for heavier research programs, while PayGO avoids a subscription but limits result storage to six months.

Platforms

Trymata is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Its usability testing supports desktop and mobile websites, apps, and prototypes.

Who it's for

Trymata is a strong candidate for teams that need both remote usability studies and product analytics, or researchers who want a choice of moderated, unmoderated, and discussion-based formats. PayGO is a practical route for occasional studies without a subscription. It is less compelling for teams that need long-term PayGO result access, included AI video analysis, or testing volume beyond the defined monthly quotas.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple study formats and several forms of feedback let teams use one service for varied research needs.
Pros: PayGO allows buying test credits as needed without a subscription, which suits intermittent research.
Pros: Agency accounts separate client data and billing and include unlimited seats.
Cons: PayGO results are stored for only up to six months, which may not suit teams maintaining a longer research record.
Cons: Team and Enterprise both specify two seats and limited monthly tester and invite quotas, constraining larger or higher-volume teams.
Cons: AI video summaries and automated annotations are paid add-ons rather than included analysis tools.

Alternatives

Consider Userfeel if a free plan with three monthly credits, one admin, and the option to bring your own tester matches a smaller testing program. QuestionPunk may suit teams prioritizing AI interviews and follow-ups, with a free plan capped at 20 responses per month. For a low-cost starting point with 15 monthly credits but no recordings or participant panel on its free plan, consider UXArmy. Lyssna offers unlimited quick studies on its free plan, alongside 15 self-recruited test and survey responses and three seats.

Maze, UXtweak, HeyMarvin, and Condens are also alternatives to compare. Browse more options in UX Research Software and Usability Testing Software.

Verdict

Choose Trymata if your team wants remote research in several formats, product analytics by session volume, and the option to buy occasional study credits without a subscription. Its strongest case is the combination of testing and analytics; look elsewhere if your work depends on long PayGO retention, included AI video analysis, or more than the stated Team and Enterprise quotas.
