Overview

PhoneCopy combines backup, restore and two-way synchronization: data can move from a device to the cloud, back to a device, or between devices. That makes it relevant for both routine continuity and restoring personal information after a device change. It handles contacts, calendars, SMS, photos and videos on mobile, plus documents from PC and Mac.

PhoneCopy says photos and videos are retained at original resolution and quality, which suits users who want an archive rather than compressed copies. The Basic media pack is 1 GB, however, so a substantial photo or video collection can quickly outgrow the free tier.

Key features

Personal data backup and sync: Contacts, calendars, SMS, photos and videos can be backed up, restored and synchronized in both directions. This is a better fit for people who need their personal information to travel across devices than for users who only need file storage.
Computer document backup: PhoneCopy can back up documents from PC and Mac, and says those backups receive antimalware scanning alongside ransomware and antivirus protection.
Calendar and contact connections: Google Calendar Sync, CalDav, CardDav, ActiveSync and Windows 10 Calendar sync broaden its usefulness for people already working through those protocols.
Privacy and infrastructure: PhoneCopy says it encrypts data and stores it on physical servers it owns and controls. It says it does not access personal-cloud contents unless a user requests support, when access follows security procedures. Depending on features used, its mobile apps may collect account email, an installation identifier, contacts, SMS, call logs, photos and videos; that access is worth weighing against the convenience of centralizing personal data.
Device range: PhoneCopy says it supports over 11,000 devices, including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Android, iOS, iPad and KaiOS devices. That range is valuable for mixed-device households and older hardware.

Pricing

PhoneCopy is freemium. Basic has no published price and includes 500 contacts, 500 calendar events, 500 tasks, 500 notes, two devices and a 1 GB media pack. Those caps can be enough for a modest personal setup, but the two-device ceiling and small media allowance limit it as a long-term home for growing data. When a Basic account exceeds its limits, synchronization is blocked until the user reduces stored data or upgrades; the data remains accessible.

Premium costs 1.99 EUR per month, billed €1.99 per month. It removes the listed item and device limits, provides a 2.5 GB media pack, keeps deleted data for one year, and adds priority email and discussion support plus an ad-free portal and apps. It is the clearest fit for users who need more than two devices or the Basic item quotas, though the 2.5 GB media pack remains modest for large photo and video libraries.

For larger media collections, Premium + 50 GB costs 2.99 EUR per month, Premium + 100 GB costs 3.99 EUR per month, Premium + 500 GB costs 5.99 EUR per month, and Premium + 1000 GB costs 9.99 EUR per month; each is billed per month and includes the named media storage. The Premium + 50 GB Media Pack, Premium + 100 GB Media Pack, Premium + 500 GB Media Pack and Premium + 1000 GB Media Pack cost 2.99 EUR per month, 3.99 EUR per month, 5.99 EUR per month and 9.99 EUR per month respectively, billed at the matching monthly amounts, with Premium included. These larger choices suit users who need expanded media capacity alongside Premium’s broader limits and support.

Basic includes a one-month deleted-data archive, compared with Premium’s one year. That shorter recovery window is another reason not to treat Basic as equivalent to a full archive plan.

Platforms

PhoneCopy supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web and Windows. Its stated compatibility extends to iPad and KaiOS as well as other device types, while computer-document backup is available for PC and Mac. This breadth helps when a household or workplace mixes operating systems; the service’s strongest purpose remains synchronizing personal data rather than serving as generic cloud storage.

Who it's for

PhoneCopy is best for people who want one service to move contacts, calendars, messages and media between phones, with the additional option of backing up documents from PC and Mac. It is especially relevant when restoring a device or keeping several platforms aligned matters. People with small collections can start with Basic, but anyone relying on more than two devices, larger item counts or a larger media archive should account for the upgrade requirement.

Pros and cons

Pro: Backup, restore and two-way sync cover personal information as well as photos and videos, making PhoneCopy more useful for device transitions than a media-only service.
Pro: Original-resolution photo and video storage and support for more than 11,000 devices suit users with varied hardware and existing media collections.
Pro: Premium raises the device and listed-item limits and adds a year-long deleted-data archive and priority support for 1.99 EUR per month.
Con: Basic is constrained to two devices, 1 GB of media and 500 of each listed item type; synchronization stops when account limits are exceeded.
Con: Premium’s 2.5 GB media pack may still be insufficient for users with sizable photo or video libraries, requiring a higher-capacity plan.
Con: The mobile apps may collect contacts, messages, call logs and media depending on enabled features, a meaningful privacy trade-off for a service handling personal data.

Alternatives

Choose IDrive instead if a cloud-backup option with a 10 GB Basic storage plan or a 100 GB IDrive Mini plan at 0.25 USD per month better matches your storage needs; PhoneCopy’s distinguishing emphasis is device data synchronization and restore. Ente Photos is another freemium choice, with a Free plan offering 10 GB, one replica and 100 Locker items, for readers prioritizing those stated photo-storage terms.

PhotoSync may suit readers focused on photo transfers: its free tier provides basic transfers, while full-size transfer, RAW, NAS and cloud features are paid. Rawback offers a free 5 GB plan with monthly AI credits, face recognition and public sharing, so it is worth considering when those specific capabilities matter more than PhoneCopy’s broader personal-data sync.

Tonfotos offers a free lifetime license with full paid-version functionality but limits the number of people on photos. Immich is free and self-hosted, making it an option for readers who want to run the server themselves. Pho offers a free local gallery and describes its core sync engine as open source, with Pro features extending that open core. FOREVER is another freemium alternative.

Verdict

PhoneCopy is a strong fit for users who need more than a photo backup: it combines personal-data backup, restore and two-way sync across a wide device range, with computer document backup as an extra. Its main reason to choose it is that breadth; its main reason to look elsewhere is the Basic tier’s tight device and storage caps, followed by Premium’s still-limited media allowance. Start with Basic only if its quotas fit; otherwise, budget for Premium or a larger media plan.
