Overview

Pushwoosh is a customer messaging platform for teams coordinating campaigns across apps, websites, and other channels. It is best suited to organizations that need automated customer journeys, targeting, and API access alongside push messaging. Its main trade-off is that billing depends on active users or unique email recipients, so audience size and email volume need to be part of the buying decision.

Key features

Journey Builder, behavioral triggers, segmentation, personalization, A/B testing, analytics, and autonomous AI optimization cover the main steps of building and refining campaigns. That breadth can help teams manage lifecycle messaging in one system; it also means the platform is a better fit for organizations with ongoing campaign needs than for those seeking a simple push-only tool.

Channels include mobile and web push, mobile in-app messages, email, SMS, WhatsApp, Kakao Talk, and Telegram. All plans include full API access through a unified API, and integrations include Adjust, Amplitude, AppsFlyer, Mixpanel, Segment, and Shopify. The wide channel mix is useful for teams coordinating outreach across services, while the free tier’s email allowance makes it important to plan sends before expanding beyond push and in-app messaging.

Pushwoosh says SDK integration, user import, and initial subscriber gathering take 2 to 10 days. It advertises 24/7 support and technical integration assistance. Its stated security measures include GDPR and ePrivacy compliance, ISO 27001:2022 certification, SOC 2 Type 2 auditing, HIPAA compliance, anti-DDoS protection, and isolated dedicated infrastructure. A 99.9% uptime commitment may matter to teams relying on messaging for regular customer communication.

Pricing

The free Pay-as-you-go option costs 0.00 USD per free, billed monthly, and covers projects with up to 1,000 MAU. It includes five AI requests per day, 20,000 email sends per month, unlimited push notifications, and unlimited in-app impressions. That is a useful starting point for a small project, but the audience cap and email allowance set clear boundaries. Additional email sends cost $1.50 per 1,000 emails.

Push only costs 7.00 USD per month, billed monthly. It includes mobile push, mobile in-app messaging, web push, and the full toolset. The price is a limited offer through December 31, with the price locked for 24 months after signup. It suits teams focused on push channels, but email and the other listed channels are not included.

Email only costs 5.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and includes email campaigns, the full toolset, and 20,000 sends per month in the pricing calculator. It is the lower-cost fit for email-focused campaigns, but does not provide the broader channel mix of Omnichannel.

Omnichannel costs 13.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and includes the full platform and all channels, including mobile and web push, in-app messaging, email, SMS, and WhatsApp. It is the clearest fit for teams that need cross-channel campaigns; email sends above the included allowance incur the additional-send charge. Custom pricing applies to plans offered when estimated cost exceeds $3,000/month. Custom plans include SSO, a dedicated private cloud, a dedicated manager, and commercial agreements.

Platforms

Pushwoosh supports web, Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. It also describes its service as available on all platforms and supporting known platforms for data and messaging. Mobile analytics, data export, and the core automation and targeting capabilities support teams managing app-based campaigns as well as web messaging.

Who it's for

Pushwoosh is a strong fit for app publishers and marketing teams that need automated journeys, behavioral targeting, and several messaging channels under one API. Small projects can start within the 1,000-MAU free limit, while teams needing email, SMS, or WhatsApp can consider Omnichannel. It is less compelling for a small sender whose needs are limited to one channel if the paid plan's extra capabilities would go unused.

Pros and cons

Pros: The free tier combines unlimited push and in-app impressions with 20,000 monthly email sends, making it practical for small projects testing multiple campaign types.
Pros: Full API access across plans and broad channel support give teams a way to coordinate messaging across platforms.
Pros: Journey Builder, segmentation, personalization, A/B testing, analytics, and AI optimization provide campaign tools beyond message delivery.
Cons: The free tier stops at 1,000 MAU, and extra email sends cost $1.50 per 1,000, so growing audiences or heavier email programs can change the cost calculation.
Cons: Billing may be based on monthly active users or monthly unique email recipients, requiring buyers to check which metric applies to their plan.
Cons: Push only excludes email and other channels; teams that need the full channel range must choose the higher-priced Omnichannel plan.

Alternatives

OneSignal is worth considering for a free start: its Free plan includes 10,000 email sends per month and 1,000 monthly active users, while Pushwoosh's free tier includes 20,000 monthly email sends for projects up to 1,000 MAU.

Airship Experimentation offers a paid alternative with app and web experiences, native UI, automation, and real-time orchestration. Batch is another paid option, with a customizable Enterprise plan, its full feature set, a dedicated account manager, and connectors for other MarTech tools.

Verdict

Choose Pushwoosh if your team needs automated customer journeys, full API access, and messaging across several channels, with a free tier for a project of up to 1,000 MAU. Look elsewhere if your campaign is narrowly focused and the active-user or email-recipient billing metric, capped free audience, or paid channel tiers do not suit its scale.
