Overview

Multi Service Fuel Card is a commercial fleet-card service for trucking businesses, with separate products for heavy over-the-road trucks and smaller mixed fleets. It is best suited to operators who need fuel spending controls and fleet reporting; its fit depends on choosing the right acceptance network and accounting for variable fees.

Founded in 1978, the company offers unsecured, secured and prepaid credit lines. Both card products support fleet-focused and NACM reporting, while the over-the-road card adds TMS integrations.

Key features

Networks and controls

The over-the-road card serves Class 7–8 fleets and is accepted at more than 8,900 high-flow diesel truck-stop locations across the United States and Canada. That focus suits long-haul operators who refuel at truck stops, but it is not the broader local network. The mixed-fleet card covers Class 1–6 vehicles using gasoline or diesel, with acceptance at more than 230,000 fuel and maintenance locations in the same countries. Both products offer detailed purchase controls to manage spending and prevent unauthorized purchases, plus odometer tracking.

App and security

The Android and iOS app and web service combine card management with truck-stop pricing and amenities, route and truck profiles, and account-specific pricing. Pricing covers approximately 6,500 truck stops, with data updated within the last 48 hours, so the app can help compare stops but does not cover every location in either card network. A time-sensitive One-Time PIN for each transaction is intended to help protect against fuel-card skimming.

Approved Insta Money transfers can cover lumpers, repairs or unexpected over-the-road expenses. Customer service is available 24/7/365; the OTR page cites average hold times below 25 seconds. The company’s privacy policy says it does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and describes safeguards including encryption, access controls, authentication, security monitoring and testing.

Pricing

The service is paid, with custom pricing. The Fuel Card account has no fixed published price: program maintenance fees range from $0 to $10 per month, fuel transaction fees from $0 to $2 per transaction, and money fees from 0% to 3% of the transaction amount. Those charges can add up for fleets with frequent transactions or money transfers, so compare the applicable fees against your expected use before committing.

A free plan is also offered, but its terms and included features are not established here. Support, spend controls, odometer tracking and fuel price tracking are listed as supported capabilities. The variable account fees mean this is not a straightforward no-cost option.

Platforms

The service supports web, Android and iOS. The mobile app’s pricing, route and card-management tools are most useful to drivers and fleet managers who need account information away from a desk.

Who it's for

Choose the OTR product if you run Class 7–8 trucks and need high-flow diesel locations, TMS integration and over-the-road expense support. Choose the mixed-fleet product if your operation uses Class 1–6 gasoline or diesel vehicles and needs a larger network that also includes maintenance locations. Fleets that do not fit either profile, or cannot make the relevant network work for their routes, should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Separate networks address long-haul diesel and local mixed-fleet needs rather than forcing both into one card model.
Pro: Purchase controls, fleet and NACM reporting, and odometer tracking support tighter spending oversight.
Pro: OTR TMS integrations and approved Insta Money transfers serve needs specific to trucking operations.
Con: Maintenance and transaction fees vary, and money transfers can carry a percentage fee, complicating cost estimates.
Con: The OTR card’s truck-stop network and mixed-fleet card’s broader fuel-and-maintenance network address different use cases; the larger location count alone does not make the mixed-fleet card a substitute for OTR coverage.

Alternatives

Radius Velocity is worth considering for UK customers seeking a free option; its free plan requires a Radius customer account. AtoB Fleet Fuel Cards is another paid card option: its AtoB Unlimited plan costs 3.00 USD per month, billed per active card, plus a $35 account set-up fee; it is prepaid, with spending limited to loaded funds and fuel and non-fuel purchases supported. Coast may suit teams comparing card and expense management at 4.00 USD per active user per month, or a separate Bill Pay plan at 99.00 USD per month.

Other options to compare include Eurowag Fuel Management, Fill-Rite FMS, link2pump, Track Star Fleet Fuel Management and Geotab. For more options, browse Fuel Management Software.

Verdict

Multi Service Fuel Card is a strong candidate for commercial trucking fleets that can match their vehicle mix and routes to one of its two networks and want purchase controls, reporting and dedicated app tools. Its clearest advantage is that OTR and mixed fleets get distinct card products, with TMS support reserved for OTR users. Look elsewhere if your fleet cannot use the relevant network or needs predictable costs: account, transaction and money fees can vary.
