Overview

Freshsales is a sales CRM for teams that want lead, deal and customer conversations managed in one workspace. It is best suited to small and growing sales teams that need built-in communication and automation; the trade-off is that useful advanced controls cost substantially more than entry-level access.

Its strongest case is the combination of pipeline management, chat, email and phone, with Freddy AI supporting sales work. A three-user free plan makes it possible to start small, while paid plans begin at $9/user/mo (annual).

Key features

Lead and deal management

Freshsales supports lead capture, qualification, routing and tracking, with lead scoring and forms. A 360-degree contact view follows customers through their buying journey, and customizable pipeline stages, kanban cards and revenue forecasting help teams keep deals moving. Freddy AI highlights leads and deals, offers insights and closing recommendations, and can draft emails. This is a practical mix for teams that want prospect context and pipeline work in the same CRM; contact scoring and deal insights are among the capabilities reserved for Pro.

Communication and automation

Built-in chat, email and phone keep customer interactions close to CRM records, with integrations for Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp Business. Email sync, templates, customer journeys, task management, assignment rules, sales sequences, workflows and internal notifications cover follow-up and routine coordination. Growth includes basic workflows, so teams needing sequences or more developed sales controls should weigh the higher plans.

Integrations, mobile and security

The Freshworks Marketplace connects Freshsales with more than 100 apps, and APIs support custom integrations. Its iOS and Android apps include offline mode, Google Maps synchronization, check-ins and voice notes, with Gmail and Outlook add-ons. Freshworks describes data-center surveillance and current security patching; its Trust Center lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701:2019, SOC 3 and SOC 2 Type 2 materials. These are relevant assurances for teams assessing mobile access and security practices, though they do not replace their own compliance review.

Pricing

Freshsales is freemium. The Free plan costs $0.00 USD per free and is capped at three users, with 100 contacts included. That is a sensible starting point for a very small team, but the seat cap makes it a limited long-term option as the sales group expands.

Growth costs $9.00 USD per month, billed annually. It targets startups and SMBs and includes kanban view, contact lifecycle stages, chat, email and phone, email templates, custom fields and basic workflows. It is the entry paid tier for teams that need shared channels and routine automation without Pro-level controls.

Pro costs $39.00 USD per month, billed annually, for growing and mid-sized businesses. It adds contact scoring, deal insights, custom sales activities, territory management and sales sequences. The jump from Growth is substantial, so it makes most sense when those capabilities directly support a more complex sales operation.

Enterprise costs $59.00 USD per month, billed annually, and is aimed at mid to large-sized businesses. Forecasting insights, field-level permissions, custom modules, sandbox and audit logs are aimed at teams with greater governance and customization needs. Paid plans include 500 chatbot sessions once per account; a session lasts up to 24 hours, and validity aligns with the payment cycle.

A 21-day trial opens the fully loaded CRM. Users must choose a plan and pay by credit card to continue; accounts are suspended if they do not continue after the trial. Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express are accepted across currencies.

Platforms

Freshsales supports web, iOS and Android, as well as APIs and browser extensions. The mobile apps’ offline mode and location-linked tools can help salespeople working away from a desk stay connected to CRM tasks.

Who it's for

Freshsales is a strong fit for small and growing teams that want one CRM for lead handling, pipeline visibility and customer conversations, especially if basic automation and mobile access matter. The free tier suits teams of no more than three users; Growth gives small businesses a paid path to workflows and core channels. Teams that need territory management, sequences or tighter permissions should budget for Pro or Enterprise. It is less compelling for buyers who want advanced sales controls at the lowest tier.

Pros and cons

Pros: Lead management, kanban pipelines and chat, email and phone are brought together, reducing the need to separate everyday sales activity across tools.
Pros: Freddy AI can surface lead and deal insights and help write emails, while Growth workflows automate repetitive tasks.
Pros: Mobile apps include offline mode, maps synchronization, check-ins and voice notes, useful for teams that work in the field.
Cons: The free plan stops at three users, so even a modestly larger team must move to paid access.
Cons: Pro is a steep price increase over Growth, putting territory management and sales sequences behind a much higher annual-billing tier.
Cons: The 21-day trial does not provide an ongoing fallback: accounts are suspended unless users continue on a plan.

Verdict

Choose Freshsales if your small or growing sales team wants lead and deal management, customer channels and useful AI assistance in one CRM, with a free entry point for up to three users. Its clearest limitation is the cost of moving beyond Growth: teams that need territory management, sequences or governance controls should compare the higher tiers against alternatives before committing.
