Overview

Freshcaller is a cloud contact center for teams managing customer calls across support, sales, IT, or HR. It is best suited to organizations that need flexible inbound routing and call controls alongside Freshworks integrations. Its broad feature set is balanced by pay-as-you-go per-minute charges, which make call volume a central part of the buying decision.

Teams can use it on the web, Android, and iOS, with business numbers from more than 90 countries and bring-your-own-carrier support. Two-way marketplace integrations connect it with Freshdesk, Freshservice, and Freshworks CRM; Freshdesk users can place calls within the service and turn a call into a ticket in one click. Freshcaller belongs in the broader Call Center Software and Business Phone Systems categories.

Key features

Routing and call handling

Team-, time-, and intent-based routing, queue callbacks, and routing automation give managers multiple ways to direct inbound calls. An auto attendant and advanced routing are useful for teams with different queues or caller needs, but may be more machinery than a small team with a simple call flow requires. During calls, agents can hold, mute, transfer, conference, forward, and drop voicemail.

The tiers matter: Growth includes wait queues and warm or cold transfers; Pro adds holiday routing, agent statuses, automation, conferencing, and smart escalations; Enterprise adds speech-enabled IVR, abandoned-call metrics, and service-level monitoring. A team should choose based on the controls it needs rather than assume every routing capability comes with the entry-level paid plan.

Call intelligence and automation

Call recordings, post-call transcripts, call-lifecycle information, and live dashboards support conversation review and operational monitoring. Voice bots and speech-enabled IVR can handle repetitive queries and help reduce wait times. These tools are most relevant to teams seeking to automate routine caller interactions or monitor service; Enterprise is the tier that specifically includes speech-enabled IVR.

Security and mobile use

Freshworks says its services use AES 256-bit encryption at rest and HTTPS with TLS 1.2 in transit. Its Trust Center lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701:2019, SOC 3, PCI DSS v4.0.0, and other compliance resources. Freshworks says standalone Freshcaller is not PCI DSS applicable, while its data stores are encrypted and controls are audited against SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and Cyber Essentials Plus. The mobile app supports iOS 10 and higher and Android 5.0 and higher, but is available only in English.

Pricing

Freshcaller has a free plan and a 14-day trial with access to all Enterprise Plan features. The free plan is $0/agent/month, billed annually, with unlimited agents, but it also uses per-minute billing. It offers a low-commitment way to start, not a predictable cost ceiling for a team with substantial call traffic.

Growth costs 15.00 USD per month, billed annually, and includes 2,000 incoming minutes per month, number porting, wait queues, voicemail, warm and cold transfers, call recording, and day passes at $2/pass. It is the practical starting point for teams that want core call handling and recording with a defined monthly allowance. Pro costs 39.00 USD per month, billed annually, and includes 3,000 incoming minutes per month, holiday routing, agent statuses, routing automation, call conferencing, smart escalations, and day passes at $7/pass. It fits teams that need more routing and escalation controls, though the included allowance rises by only 1,000 minutes over Growth.

Enterprise costs 69.00 USD per month, billed annually, and includes 5,000 incoming minutes per month, speech-enabled IVR, agent statuses, abandoned-call metrics, service-level monitoring, and day passes at $12/pass. It is aimed at teams that need those higher-tier monitoring and automation features, not simply a larger minute allowance. All plans are pay-as-you-go with per-minute charges, so included minutes should be weighed against actual usage. Cancellation has no fee but takes effect at the end of the term. The plan prices are billed annually; the trial lasts 14 days.

Platforms

Freshcaller runs on web, Android, and iOS. Mobile access extends call handling beyond a desktop, but the app's English-only availability may limit its fit for multilingual teams.

Who it's for

Freshcaller suits customer support, sales, IT, and HR teams that manage inbound calls and can benefit from routing by team, schedule, or intent. It is particularly compelling for organizations already using Freshdesk or other Freshworks products. Teams with uncomplicated call needs, little interest in call analytics, or highly variable traffic should compare the value of the richer tiers against per-minute costs and included-minute allowances.

Pros and cons

Pros: Routing by team, time, and intent, plus queue callbacks and an auto attendant, gives call-heavy teams meaningful control over where callers go.
Pros: Recordings, transcripts, call-lifecycle information, and live dashboards support both conversation review and operational oversight.
Pros: Freshdesk calling and one-click call-to-ticket conversion connect phone support to ticket workflows.
Pros: The 14-day trial opens the full Enterprise feature set, letting teams evaluate higher-tier capabilities before choosing a plan.
Cons: Per-minute charges apply alongside plan allowances, so the monthly plan price alone does not determine cost.
Cons: The paid plans are billed annually, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the term.
Cons: Mobile support is restricted to English, which can be a drawback for teams that need another app language.

Alternatives

Choose CallHub if its paid, per-message/call-oriented offering and broad platform support are a better match; it has a free plan and trial. Genesys Cloud CX is an alternative for teams seeking a paid voice contact-center product with no free plan and a $75.00 USD per month annual plan. Amazon Connect is another paid option with a free trial and usage pricing that can vary by region and communication type. Consider 8x8 Contact Center if you want to compare a custom-priced contact center. Zoom Scheduler is a scheduling product rather than a direct contact-center alternative. RingCentral RingCX starts at $65.00 USD per user monthly and may suit buyers comparing a higher-priced contact-center plan. OpenScape Contact Center Enterprise is another paid contact-center option. C-Zentrix Contact Center has a free plan with 100 minutes of initial call credit.

Verdict

Freshcaller is a strong choice for teams that need structured inbound routing, call intelligence, and a direct connection to Freshworks workflows. Its main advantage is the range of call controls and routing options across web and mobile; its main caution is pay-as-you-go billing on top of annual plan prices, with included minutes that vary by tier. Choose it when those controls justify the usage-based cost, and look elsewhere if predictable all-in call costs or non-English mobile support are priorities.
