Overview

FourKites Connect is a free web portal for carriers and logistics operators managing freight-tracking connections with FourKites. It suits organizations that need to onboard across transport modes and keep tracking credentials and data quality in order; its focus is connection management, not running a full transportation operation.

FourKites says most carriers are live within 48 hours, a useful onboarding target rather than a guaranteed turnaround. The strongest reason to choose the portal is its combination of broad connection options, quality alerts and built-in diagnostics at no charge.

Key features

Multi-mode connections

The portal supports Ocean, FTL, LTL, Parcel and Air, with credentials for more than 900 ELD/GPS providers. Connection methods include EDI 214/315, APIs, SFTP, flat files, ocean credentials, LTL PRO tracking, parcel API keys and air IATA credentials. Parcel API-key connections cover UPS, FedEx, DHL and regional providers. This breadth is useful for carriers handling varied freight or shipper requirements, though the practical fit still depends on the particular connection methods a carrier needs.

Connection management and tracking quality

Users can review connected ELD/GPS providers, refresh expired credentials, add connection methods and see which shipper customers are being tracked. Real-time tracking quality scores and Tracy AI alerts flag quality below set thresholds, giving teams a way to spot deteriorating tracking performance rather than merely confirm that a connection exists.

Diagnostics, support and data safeguards

Built-in diagnostics identify connection problems, data gaps and integration errors. Users can file and track support cases in the portal; connection-method help is also available through the carrier support team by phone or email. FourKites describes logical segregation of customer data, with network intelligence aggregated and anonymized. Its stated controls include AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.2+ in transit, role-based access and audit logging; it also says customer data is not stored by or used to train AI model providers. The Trust Center lists 300+ audited controls, with most compliance reports available through a click-through NDA and sensitive documents released within one business day.

Pricing

Free: Free. It is free to join and use, always, with no setup fees and no monthly charges. The plan includes carrier onboarding, compliance tracking, performance scorecards, a carrier portal and API access. That makes it a straightforward fit for carriers seeking connection and tracking tools without a subscription commitment. No paid tier is presented, so the portal is not a choice for buyers looking to compare graduated service levels or expanded paid packages.

Platforms

FourKites Connect runs on the web, so it is suited to teams managing connections through a browser. Mobile or desktop-native platform support is not part of its stated offering.

Who it's for

FourKites positions its carrier network for owner-operators, small and mid-size carriers, large fleets, 3PLs, brokers, freight forwarders, intermodal operators and NVOCCs. It is most compelling for organizations that need to connect with FourKites-tracked shippers and manage tracking quality across several freight modes. A business seeking broader transportation management functions should look beyond this connection-focused portal.

Pros and cons

Pros: Free to join and use, with no setup or monthly fees, while covering onboarding, compliance tracking, scorecards, portal access and APIs.
Pros: More than 900 ELD/GPS providers and connection options spanning five transport modes can accommodate varied carrier workflows.
Pros: Quality scores, threshold alerts, diagnostics and case tracking bring monitoring and troubleshooting into the same portal.
Cons: Its stated purpose centers on integrations, compliance and tracking; it is not positioned as a full transportation management system.
Cons: It is web-based, which may not suit teams that require a native mobile or desktop app.

Alternatives

For a broader set of carrier-management choices, see Carrier Management Software. Carrier Assure and MyCarrierTMS are web-based freemium alternatives with free plans, worth comparing if you want another free entry point. Infor Public Sector is a paid option across web, mobile, API, self-hosted and Windows platforms; its pricing is custom. Manhattan Active Inventory Replenishment is a paid web and API alternative with no free plan. McLeod Software Transportation Management is a paid option with Android, iOS, web, API and self-hosted platforms; its LoadMaster and PowerBroker products may suit readers comparing a transportation-management suite. GoodShip is a paid web platform with custom pricing. nShift TMS is a paid API and web system priced per shipment, with a modular Core base and optional Cost, Collaborate, Emissions and Report modules; it suits buyers who want shipment-volume-based pricing and modular choices. Trimble Freight Marketplace is another paid web option.

Verdict

Choose FourKites Connect if you are a carrier or logistics operator seeking a no-cost way to manage FourKites tracking connections across multiple modes, with quality monitoring and diagnostics close at hand. Its combination of broad integrations and in-portal troubleshooting is the case for choosing it; look elsewhere if your priority is a fuller transportation-management system or a native app.
