Overview

Formbricks is a feedback platform for collecting surveys on websites, in apps, and by email. It suits teams that need flexible survey targeting, respondent segmentation, or a choice between cloud and self-hosting. Its breadth is a strength, but cloud response caps and the work involved in running a self-hosted deployment make it a considered choice rather than a fit for every team.

It supports both types of Net Promoter Score surveys alongside broader feedback programs. For category comparisons, see Net Promoter Score Software, Survey API Software, and Survey Software.

Key features

Surveys and targeting

Hobby includes link-based and in-product surveys, all question types, conditional logic, hidden fields, partial responses, file uploads, and single-use links. That is a substantial toolkit for teams tailoring a survey to answers or controlling link reuse, though the cloud Hobby plan's 250 responses per month keeps it suited to modest collection.

Pro adds respondent identification, contact and segment management, and attribute-based segmentation. Teams that need to organize feedback by respondent attributes have a reason to upgrade; teams running straightforward surveys may not need those extras.

Follow-up and integrations

Pro adds email follow-ups, custom webhooks, integrations, iOS and Android SDKs, and AI translations. Listed third-party integrations include Airtable, Google Sheets, Notion, Slack, n8n, Zapier, and ActivePieces. This makes Pro the more relevant tier for teams connecting feedback to existing workflows or supporting multiple languages; those capabilities come with a higher monthly commitment than Hobby.

Security and self-hosting

Formbricks says it encrypts data in transit with HTTPS/TLS 1.3 and at rest with AES-256, and lists GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2 Type II, and ISO 27001 compliance. It also says it conducts independent penetration tests annually and makes daily encrypted backups for Formbricks Cloud.

Self-hosting is offered through one-click setup, Docker, and Kubernetes. The documented v6 baseline runs eight long-lived services, and its evaluation setup calls for 2 vCPU, 4 GB memory, and 20 GB SSD on one server. Those are meaningful operating requirements: self-hosting can suit organizations seeking deployment control, but it is not a hands-off alternative to the cloud. Self-hosted free users receive community support; EE license users receive prioritized support and updates.

Pricing

Formbricks has cloud and self-hosted options. The 14-day trial gives teams a short period to assess the paid product before committing.

Hobby: Price not listed. The cloud plan includes one workspace and 250 responses per month, with the Hobby survey features described above. It is the sensible starting point for small projects, but the response cap can constrain a growing feedback program.
Pro: 89.00 USD per month, billed monthly. It includes three workspaces, 2,000 responses per month, and unlimited seats. This is the tier for teams that need segmentation, follow-ups, integrations, or mobile SDKs; its response allowance is more substantial than Hobby's but remains capped.
Scale: 390.00 USD per month, billed monthly. It includes five workspaces and 5,000 responses per month. The higher quota and workspace count fit larger programs, though teams should weigh that capacity against the sharp increase in monthly cost from Pro.
Self-Hosting Free: 0.00 USD per free, billed Free. It offers DIY setup and maintenance, community support, moderate customization and control, and most advanced features. The zero price does not remove the operational work of maintaining a deployment.
Self-Hosting EE License: Custom pricing, fixed per month. It includes DIY setup and maintenance, prioritized support and updates, all advanced features, and full customization and control.

The published pricing note also gives a paid-from figure of $74/mo (annual), while the Pro plan is priced at 89.00 USD per month billed monthly. Readers should distinguish the annual paid-from price from the monthly Pro price when comparing costs.

Platforms

Formbricks lists Android, iOS, API, web, and self-hosted platforms. The Pro plan's iOS and Android SDKs are especially relevant to teams collecting in-app feedback; the wider platform range supports teams choosing between an integration, a web deployment, and operating the software themselves.

Who it's for

Formbricks is aimed at organizations that want to understand customers through feedback, with use cases spanning financial services, healthcare, e-commerce, nonprofits, government, market research, and retail. It is strongest for teams that will use conditional surveys, segmentation, or workflow connections, or that have a reason and capacity to self-host. A team needing only a small number of basic responses may find the Hobby cap restrictive, while a team unwilling to manage infrastructure should favor the cloud plans.

Pros and cons

Pros: Hobby includes conditional logic, hidden fields, file uploads, and single-use links, giving small teams more survey control than a basic questionnaire alone.
Pros: Pro combines segmentation, follow-ups, SDKs, and integrations, which can support feedback programs tied to customer attributes and existing workflows.
Pros: Cloud and self-hosted options let organizations choose between a managed route and greater deployment control.
Cons: Cloud responses are capped at 250 per month on Hobby, 2,000 on Pro, and 5,000 on Scale, so higher-volume programs need to account for tier limits.
Cons: Self-hosting entails DIY setup and maintenance; the documented baseline includes eight services and a specified server footprint.
Cons: The gap between Pro at 89.00 USD per month and Scale at 390.00 USD per month is substantial, so teams needing more than Pro's quota should assess the added workspace and response capacity carefully.

Alternatives

Fynzo Survey is worth considering when unlimited surveys, questions, and responses on a free plan matter more than Formbricks' stated segmentation and self-hosting options.

Refiner offers a free plan capped at 25 survey responses per month, making it an option for very small-volume use.

SatisMeter has a free plan with 25 responses per month, so it may suit a team whose feedback needs remain at that level.

Mapster offers a free plan with 50 responses per month and unlimited surveys, a lower-volume alternative for teams that want those terms.

Thermostat has a free plan limited to one user, one survey, and 200 surveys administered per month, suited to a narrow, single-user setup.

Survicate offers a free plan with 25 responses per month and three teammates, an alternative for small teams with low response needs.

IntouchSurvey is another paid web-based survey option.

Listen360 is another paid web-based option.

Verdict

Choose Formbricks if your team needs more than basic surveys—particularly conditional logic, respondent segmentation, workflow integrations, or a self-hosting route. The combination is compelling for organizations with an active feedback program and the capacity to manage its limits or infrastructure. Look elsewhere if you need a high response volume at a lower monthly cost, or want a simple survey tool without self-hosting responsibilities.
